  • could anybody tell me kindly by playing records in certain companies sounds loud or soft when its playing?

  • come on apple, move around once again

  • Comment removed

  • im so young i thought that was a stove at first

  • I like the record version better than the traditional version: it sounds warmer and more passionate.

  • rjciccone i envy you so much i cant find any beatles on vinyl anywhere >.<

  • @countryandpivot Actually, Abbey Road is being produced on vinyl to this day. Imagine my surprise when I was able to pick up a brand-new copy at the mall! I don't know about their other albums, though. They should all be available.

  • @EmilyARTS thanks for the heads up il be sure to keep my eyes open ^_^

  • LOVE the sound of REAL VINYL......sooooo miss that :)

  • <3 <3 <3 and on vinyl <3 <3 <3

  • @yomommaeatstwinkies I was talking about the record not the song

  • Damn! This video sounds way better than the other videos, what more if you were listening to the turntable playing the vinyl itself.

  • I just posted this in my facebook status, thank you! To our Paul: happy 69th!!!

  • Oh god, when he gets into the "When you told me you didn't need me anymore

Well you know I nearly broke down and cried

When you told me you didn't need me anymore

Well you know I nearly fell down and died" part it hits me hard. My heart just dies for a little bit. So much soul.

p.s. we all know who this song was for *cough* John *cough*

  • @mylifeisemo101 Indeed, that part you quoted does hit me hard too, it's one of McCartney's best vocal performances ever. As for "who this song was for *cough*" ... yeah, Lennon wanted to sing it -- but I think that he wasn't really the one who should have sang "Oh! Darling", any more than Paul should have sang "I Want You (she's so heavy)" and there is at least one bootleg with McCartney singing lead on that.

  • @rjciccone Oh no I didn't mean it that way. haha This song is McCartney's and no one could ever do it as much justice and paul himself, although the Across the Universe version was nothing short of fantastic in my honest opinion. I meant it in a who it was written for or who inspired it kind of way. But don't take this too seriously, it's just a little joke that some may or may not get.

    Peace <3<3

  • It always sounds better on a record rather than digital.. Can't beat the sound of the record

  • @xxCCBBxx hard to argue with that

  • @18laxplayer lmao I'm 13 and I have the abbey road LP

  • what most 13 year olds are thinking is what is that

  • you rock my world paulie my darling!!

  • i have this :P

  • Oh Darling! :)

  • crunch crunch crunch crunch.

  • The only thing missing from the record is the smell. :D

  • I love it!

  • in response to the 'who sang it?' thread... while Paul sang it, one cannot avoid feeling that Paul was imitating John more than a bit.

of course this leads to the joke that Paul got a job in a Beatles tribute band but had to play John because the guy playing Paul was better than Paul at it.

  • My 8 times buying Oh Darling!:

    1.-Single 45RPM EP Vinyl, 2.-33RPM LP Vinyl, 3.-8 Tracks Tape, 4.-Casette Tape, 5.-CD Disc, 6.-Mp3 Digital, 7.-DVD Vid, 8.-2010 Remastered Version.....Whats next?.... I'll buy it....... What The Heck !!!!!!.....

  • @recharchic you must REALLY love this song and of course the Abbey Road album to have made all those purchases on all the kinds of recorded formats! Got to ask - when was "Oh! Darling" ever a single 45 RPM EP? Guessing that is outside the USA/UK. There is one format you didn't mention: reel-to-reel tape, and I know the album was issued that way.

  • @rjciccone Actually this 45 RPM Vinyl EP, was relesaed outside UK and USA , I bought it down in Mexico, when they use to sell it for comercial use to play in The Jukeboxes all over The Cafes and Restaurants, I ask You: reel to reel tape format?.......Don't even tellme, because I'm ready to buy it!!, player machine included!!! LOL, thks for your coments...Beatles Forever!!!!!!

  • @recharchic 7" reel-to-reel tape, mini disk. But don't know if they are issued.

  • amazing, nothing else

  • Firstly, thanks v much to the upper. Second, yeah I can understand John maybe being a bit jealous of Paul's singing abilities when he was alive. (Little did he know exactly how much his "imperfect" voice was revered.)

Whatever, Oh Darlin' has gave me many happy times in the bath and on the way home from the pub.

    Great song Paul!

    Stevie

  • To my Taylor

  • i think john may have been a little jealous of paul on this one because in an interview john said that he didn't think that paul sang this very well ,but i dont know what he was talking about paul did an excellent job on the track.

  • @Soadownz45 Yes, Lennon did say in an interview that he wanted to sing "Oh! Darling" and I agree, John probably was jealous of Paul - I can see how some of Lennon's insecurities might have come from being in a band with such a formidable talent as McCartney. It's hard to imagine Paul doing any better a job of singing this track as it is on the album.

  • @rjciccone i completely agree

  • @Soadownz45 it seems the same way Paul was jealous of Come Together - I guess Paul wanted to sing the song himself :)

  • Comment removed

  • @radekbayek I've actually never heard about that before.

  • Paul rocksssssss!!!!!!!

  • its so cool how sound just come out awesome i wish i had one of those

  • it sounds better than the remasters.

  • this is my favorite beatles song... hard to pick maybe change it tommorrow... but no.. i love ths song...

  • I wish other bands would at least make an effort to make a final album as good as this...GO BEATLES!!

  • Perfect! This is exactly how I remembered it! When I was 13 I used to play this as loud as I could in my room and sing along, screaming the lyrics right along with Paul. It drove my parents crazy! I played it so much I was able to imitate his voice on this with fairly decent accuracy.

I have to say, when I first heard those cracking sounds on the LP as I watched this video, I started to cry.

  • I have an original Abbey Road LP. And I'm getting and original Please Please Me LP and With The Beatles LP!

  • If someone sang this to me, I would damn well stay!!

  • still it´s my opinion... you know what they say about them....

and also talking to a fanatic person (to an extremist) it´s mostly useless

  • Comment removed

  • it´s very well played, recorded, composed etc... still is blues.

If i feel like blues, then i would listen to real blues ( mostly original compositions) by those great afro-american guys (From mississipi? SORRY, I don´t wan´t to sound like a racist=). GUYS Like buddy holly or muddy waters, bb king etc..YOU NAME IT etc... etc...

  • i am a funny guy! but still, a lot of ROCK bands (ZEPPELIN, BEATLES, PURPLE, DOORS, ETC...) played blues covers or original compositions still in the blues style...

IN THE case of the beatles and in this particular BLUES song...well, maybe it´s because that they didn´t have that orinial thing that they really have in other original compositions/songs (like Something, Rain, etc... you name them=) this particular song: oh darling...

  • kids today dont understand that apple going around in our heads in the 60's

  • records are so much cooler. i dont even have an ipod cuz i am so old fashioned. and i like to stay as simple as possible

  • I have the original abbey road LP also.

  • On a seperate note, this is possibly my favorite Beatles song.

(The other tune vying for the title would be "Here Comes the Sun".)

  • nothing better... if i was made to pick my favorite beatles... this is it...

  • another band of white folks playing the blues...

I MEAN COME ON! SAME OLD STORY !

  • @jagacom Are you serious???

  • yeah i´m death serious, it´s like a blues style, and i am not racist, i am white and from argentina but i know that i can play tango with more feeling that a british person... and a british person would probably play rock with a better feel than mine... or any example you like

    it is cultural...

  • @jagacom

thats the most hilarious thing i've ever read. ever. thanks for the laugh!

if the beatles recorded themselves taking a shit, it'd be better than anything you could ever do.

  • This is one outrageous rocker! Wheeeeehaww!! McCartney really ripped it up.

  • Love your series of vinyl videos... and THIS is the perfect song for the series! Abbey Road on a turntable... what could be sweeter?

  • great song

  • I can't believe I avoided Beatles all these years. I always dismissed them as a pop band but it's amazing how the majority of their discography is actually rock. This was the first song of Beatles I fell in love with, which isn't something you'd expect from something as obsecure as Oh Darling. But yeah, Beatles are fucking insane and rock harder then most of the so called metal bands today.

  • is this an original abbey road record

  • @34LOLWTF Yes, this is an original LP copy

  • @rjciccone wow how much is that worth do u know

  • @rjciccone And I just finished listening to mine.... :)

  • 1:15 gives me chills.

  • omgosh my dad would love to have his hands on one of these!

  • even the crackling noise at the end of a beatles record beats all other ones.....

  • Paul went into Abbey Road for over a week to sing this puppy so that all of us could hear this vocal....then and now....he smokes it

  • Some songs i swear just dont age, they're always gold. Thats what makes this so different from todays bullshit.

But in my personal opinion, to hear a song this passionate on a vinyl is frightening, but i cant get enough of it.

  • "Oh! Darling" and "Here Comes the Sun" are my favorite Beatles songs.

  • You know your Beatles, rjciccone. :-) From the time I was about 10, I devoured a lot of Beatles books and learned whatever I could about them.

  • i don't exactly know which song from the 50's or 60's this has always sounded like, because there are so many, and they all have the same musical pattern; anyway, I am a devout beatles fan, and have almost all their material on CD's

  • irishstew dancing all nIGHT what an endless memory THOUGHTS AREAS IF THEY WERE JUST YESTERDAY WHAT AWESOME MEMORY!!!!!!!!!!!! SO MUCH FOR THE FUTURE HUH .....

  • the most original music vid on youtube lol

  • love how paul sings alone at 55

  • I Fucking love this song and i will alway's remember the day it wuz recorded,it wuz recorded on my birthday:) and wuz recorded for lidna for her birthday

  • Paul just absolutely kills it on this rack.

  • @isaacthorn that's right ... Lennon wanted to sing this song which would have probably been just as amazing ... but it belongs to Paul, and it still kills forty some odd years later.

  • @rjciccone The reason Paul would not give it up to John to sing is because it's a song Paul wrote with John in mind ;)

  • @isaacthorn First of all you meant track. Secondly this is Mr. John Lennon singing. Just to correct you.

  • @markenhagen paul is singing, not john. are you just guessing or is this written somewhere, cuz i can tell just by listening.

  • @markenhagen I think people understood what I meant to say. Thanks though... input from random people on the internet is always appreciated. Your wrong though... it's Paul not John. Read the description; that sums it up pretty clearly. Or just google it.... or just listen a little harder.

  • @isaacthorn Sorry Brother. Its not Paul singing. I read it in rolling stone. Its Lennon. Nice guess though.

  • @markenhagen

On the album it was attributed to Lennon/McCartney but it was written and performed by Paul McCartney. I don't care what rolling stone says. It's Paul; you can tell just by listening.

  • @markenhagen It's Paul, sorry but it's true.

  • @markenhagen Dude, no way. Do you have ears?

  • @GodofDoors Ok. I have bugged enough people. I know its Paul. Thats how good and mellow this music makes us feel. Nobody got angry and wanted to rip my head off about my comment. Goes to show the power of great music like this.

  • @markenhagen This is in fact Paul McCartney singing the song.

  • I've always wanted to collect records, but it's really expensive . . . and this is one of my favourite Paul songs too :D

  • i heard this on across the universe...good to see the real "beatle" version. :)

  • nothing better then vinyl...cd's even with all that supposed 5.1 and re-mastering dont touch ...vinyl.....

paul really nailed the vocal ...having heard earlier takes...the final master vocal is exceptional....as is the backing track....the drums on abbey road were recorded beautifully....

  • @StraightTwoDVD Yes indeed, McCartney's vocal on "Oh! Darling" is one of his best -- Lennon really wanted to sing this, but it really belonged to Paul. 'Abbey Road' drumming and the sound of them is classic. About the only audio format that might rival vinyl is DVD-Audio or SACD -- I've heard albums on these kind of discs and they all sounded great, certainly better than normal CDs if not a clean LP copy of, say, Dark Side of the Moon, or any of the Genesis albums from the recent box sets.

  • pure unadulterated eargasm.

  • I'm supposed to get an Apple pressing of the album for my birthday in 3 weeks!

  • Vinyl sounds sooo good, the way it was meant to be heard

  • oh johnny! if you leave me ill never make it alone...

  • I've got to get myself a new record player since my old one died. There is something special in unwrapping the cover, opening the sleeve and carefully putting the vinyl on the turntable while making all the other adjustments. CDs cannot match the experience.

  • Holy shit! The mix sounds different! Way different. Sounds way better!

  • @MrDrProfessorJrMD totally agree. the bass is much richer. love it

  • Holy cow the memories!

  • i like vinyl records over today's ipods, it seems classier

  • hell yeah !!

  • @CloneCommanderEnki And it makes it a lot more fun to listen too as well. The whole ritual of vinyl.

  • @CloneCommanderEnki WAY classier! Agree with you!

  • Yep. I used to have plenty of old Beatles vinyl! Wished I still had them but I did get the new remastered box set last month.

I also like how you can spin the records backwards on your player. I always had to take the belt off on mine and turn the record backwards by hand.

  • sounds like popcorn poppin after the song ends.

  • such is what an old vinyl record can sound like between tracks, that or Rice Krispies!

  • i have this LP too :)

  • theay should put the mono or stereo remasters back on vinyl too that woud be sick

  • That would be nice to have the Beatles' remasters to come out on vinyl, I agree

  • Indeed. The re-press of this was my first true vinyl purchase, but I was ticked to learn that to make the initial re-press of Abbey Road on vinyl, they used the hated 1987 CD master tape to cut the master lacquer of it. I don't hardly listen to it now as a result, besides the fact there were pops and ticks on side 2 the VERY FIRST TIME I PLAYED IT! I was saying 'What the heck?' I've since learned that Capitol's new vinyl operations have horrid quality control.

  • Must get yourself an original Apple pressing of this album -- that is what is in this clip.

  • @Patriot1776 Same here!! On side 2, there is that constant clicking sound!

  • @Patriot1776 That Happened To Me As well! :0

  • I just hate to listen from mp3, I do not know I just get a different kind of satisfaction.

  • dedicated to my aunt carmen luz

  • One of my favorites off this album...gonna go listen to my Abbey Road vinyl right now! Thanks for the upload dude. Kick ass player too.
