  • good shit. PERIOD!!!!

  • dam this is fucking clear as fuck is this HD?

  • the omg part someone else sampled that or something. wish i knew what the song was

  • Shout out listening to this at Club Strawberries in Asbury Park, back in the day on this one!

  • Yo, I remember back in the NY. how people use to free-style to this...this was classic Hip Hop!

  • Anyone have the original video? I love ya Pete rock but the original was ILL! Big up to Cortez with the Wicked visuals

  • THIS IS THA TYPE OF SHIT I HEAR N MY DREAMS...AND WHEN I AWAKE....I HUNT DOWN ALL M.C,S!!!!

  • Man, tracks like these are like medicine, help out a lot, daily struggle status...real hip hop/music has a social message, beyond petty and aesthetic shit, about crystal, hitting bitches, and all the shit that is corrupting us as people...

    Quotable:

But sometimes he slips away because he has an army

    They always give me trouble

mainly Hatred, Jealousy and Envy they attack me

    They think they got me

But I use my super science and I twist all three...

For all of the folks keepin they head up

  • a step into a time machine..

  • xDDD damn nice

he know about dim mak ;D

not many people know what it is ;D NICE LINES !

    LUVE IT!

  • ONE DAY I GOT STUCK BY KNOWLEDGE OF SELF IT GAVE ME SUPER SCIENTIFICAL POWERS, NOW I...

  • sounds like a production that could have been for I.N.I

  • Cuz not everybody appreciats lyrics like we do

  • how the fuck do people choose wiz shitty khalifa over this?

  • @Waky78695 radio doesnt play this so they dont hear it. they dont have a chance to choose.

  • @HesterDW lool i know what you mean. im 16 and iv been listening to this kinda stuff since day one

  • hip hop acid trip

  • one the greatest stories (rap analogies) ever spun.

  • i enjoy it cauz its pete rock, but compared to most of his masterpiece, this beat seems too simple...just my opinion, pete rock is still my favorite rap producer

  • I dip. Do A back flip

  • Hype s---!

  • classick!

  • I'm not gonna lie I busted a nut when I heard this remix, but to each his own. In my opinion the original beat by Premier captures the essence of the story better than Pete's version. The original's sharp and dangerous sounds keeps you on the edge of your seat and has an almost paranoid feeling to it, almost like approaching a corner of a street at night. Pete's remix is like listening to something out of Aesop's Fables while coolin out.

Both have their merits depending on the listener. Peace.

  • pete rock smooth&ruff dj

    my fav..

  • Thix remix is superior

  • mmmmmmmmmm nice !!

  • great remix,

but Premo's beat takes it in my opinion

  • These youngins don't know nothing about this. KEEP IT THAT WAY!!!!! All they gonna do is try to use these old school beats for some whack ass shit (like puffy did with them older school joints, you know what I mean). Only WE know where the essence is at, YA HEARD!!!! Live in the land of crooks, YES BROOKLYNS the borough.

  • All you kids that think hip-hop is somethin' that just recently manifested in the last decade really need to go to school. We was bangin' this ish back in '94. I remember when stretch armstrong played this mix on his radio show... puffy was the guest that night. Stay in school kids... study hard!

  • AW MAN THIS USED 2 BE MY ISH

  • i wonder what ever happened to jeru???

  • @remo2009

he had some beef with premo n after that shit he produced an album with his own beats but the succes wasnt so big...

  • This is ILL!!!!!

  • this is the shit!!!!!!! REAL HIP HOP!!!!!

  • I've had this beat as an instrumental for about 6 years I've played it to so many people n this is the first time I've heard it with the lyrics. This is going straight to my favourites :)

  • one of my favorite remixis of ALL TIME

  • i miss the real hip hop

  • @kbosati, me too

  • this is one of the best beats ever made

  • I lied. I am commenting on Jeru a second time.

13 years ago this was the best record my friend had in his collection.

I loved using it in mix tapes. its too bad he didn't have 2.

we used the shittiest record players + radio shack mixer and still mixed it up.

WORD ONRY JP JP JP. JERU ONRY??!?!?

  • found it, 2006 - invented the remix

  • what album is this off

  • @4barkilla the original song is off of "the sun rises in the east," i don't know where the remix is from

  • pete rock is a monster but at the and of the day premo is the better one!

  • Pete Rock did his thing with this remix!!!

  • god damn this beat is dope

  • The original and remix give me two different conceptualizations of the story...I like this one better

  • i like the remix better

  • @RealHipHopSucks93 . u wack, u probably liek soulja boy muisc

  • @RealHipHopSucks93 So then you acknowledge that this is real hip-hop. Idiot.

  • what ?? @ evil and yaah ?? the jump around remix of pete rock is soooo much better than the original !! damn !!

  • RETARDO!!!!!

  • i am the creator of the "HipHopApostles" group on facebook and would like to share my tastes in music with the people who give respect to the real hip hop and remember people its hip hop appreciation week

  • 1 of my favorite songs ever

  • I personally like Pete Rock better than Premo.

But they have different styles. It's just personal choice.

I don't think either one is better than the other b/c they're so different and unique.

But yeah, this remix is dope.

  • This beat has sparked many rhymes. Why can't we have this vibe still thriving in the Hip-Hop community. Let's bring it back...

  • 94' the eastcoast was gradually coming back after the westcoast sound dominated the early 90s.

  • One of the most underrated MC's of all time. It's a shame hiphop these days can't bring it back to this era when everything wasn't about money and possessions.

  • I LOVE THIS BEAT

  • this is one of the dopest remixes ever...i love this beat i love to freestyle on this shit

  • Damn I havent heard this version since like 95. Great upoload.

  • The link is broken yo

  • I don't know which is better, I love both versions too much. Plus both producers are the best.

  • @hennylo68 Same here. I can't pick one over the other both the original and remix are crazy dope!!

  • pete rock best dj of all time!!

  • Get me back to 1994 i wana be 16 again.

  • no the oh my god didn't start from doug e or busta rhymes, it's from some graffiti movie

  • Im more of a rock and metal guy but for fucks sake i wish hip hop was like this these days :D

  • @0nzer0 I'm more of a Hip Hop R&B guy but for fucks sake I wish rock was more like old Rage Against the Machine and less like the shit that's out now! (LOL)

  • kudos to Pete Rock !

  • I'm so shocked people think this wersion is beter then the original, in my opinion Premo did it so much better and that scratch "can't a god damn thing stop me" u just can't top that...

  • Really great song! That little voice going "Oh my god!" I heard that elsewhere I believe, anyone care to tell me what originally which song that came from? Please and thank you!

  • a lot of people sample "oh my god" from the song A Tribe Called Quest "oh my god" and its Busta Rhymes' voice.

  • nah.. thats not where this 1 is from.. that one i believe is from a Biz Markie track...

    -.-

  • i'm pretty sure its from a Biz Markie track.. the beginn'n i think is Doug E. Fresh beatbox'n, then u hear it go "Oh my God!.. O, o, oh my God!"

    -.-

  • Yea it is. It's from the track 'The Show'. The other 'Oh my God' that is constantly sampled is Busta Rhymes on the tribe track 'Scenario'.

  • Sorry, the track The Show is actually by Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh.

  • pete rock tore this track up.

    rock > primo

  • ete killed this shit...Big up to Primo, he might admit that this version was "more jonblaze"

  • @ROORWANT

Definitely more jonblaze than album cut!

  • premos mix fits the album better as a whole, but compared as a single, this track takes 1st place...barely...

  • Original Beet is Better !!!!!!! Pppppp--ppp--PremieeeeeR PREEM baby

  • One Of The Sickest Beats & Storytelling Rhymes Of All Time. They Should Link Up The Rest Of The Story Comic Style Like Madvillan's ALLCAPS. That Shit Is Also Sick.

  • appears on pete rock's "underground classics" on rapster records. track 10.

  • oh shit best time in hip hop when i think of high school these fresh beats come to mind

  • Oh i think the rock version is much better than the premo version

  • idk...they're too different to compare for me....the rock version is smoother but the premier version is so hard....regardless, jeru must be nice to have two legends wanting to work on the same song

  • i like the feel of the song this beat gives more than primos but i love primo so why don't we all group hug with rock and primo

  • One of the only times I'll ever say this. But Pete's version completely destroys the original, which was made by the G.O.D DJ Premiere.

  • @1UpGamers remember who made the original beat that he remixed! :P

  • @1UpGamers I think Preems is better, but the Real Hip Hop remix by Das Efx I thought he outdid Preem.

  • premiers is far better balanced in terms of technical work. but pete rocks has something a bit more dramatic about it...both are fuckin amazing, probs to both prods.

  • although both their production work tops almost everything, pete rock won a few direct battles from preemo, his remixes of both 'real hip hop' (das efx) and 'you can't stop the prophet' (jeru) are better than the original.

  • I find the original boring compared to this. Stellar work by Mr Rock, as always.

  • No offense to Preemo, but this beat was better.

  • Real hip hop RIGHT HERE

  • *****DOPE*****

  • that scratching in the intro is nutssss

  • Damn I don't know which version is better, they are both to dope, maybe premo's very very slightly.

  • I love Pete Rock's work but the original beat fits the feel of the tune lyric-wise.

  • i always felt that Pete Rock brought justice to an amazing rhyme with a sick beat, but preem produced this originally

  • "they hit me with a dart filled with the pork chop serum" wtf????

that ish was crazy right there...

    and i eat pork lol...

  • Wow, Pete Rock's remixes are ALWAYS so much better than the original, kinda feel sorry for the original producers, but up staging Preem is no easy feat! (DJ Premier IS the greatest)

  • @EvilDeadEchoes They're a tie,just like both versions of Kool G Rap's On The Run. C'mon U gotta give it up 2 both versions...

  • @effmunee Yeah of course, I'm not saying Premier's version is below par, it's good! However...... Pete's version is great.

  • @EvilDeadEchoes not even

  • @EvilDeadEchoes

he didn't kill the beat on jump around though.. but I agree :)

  • @huilen1 Lol True, although to be fair on Pete, the original 'Jump Around' uses one of the craziest samples ever! xD!

  • @EvilDeadEchoes yeah it's hard to make a classic song sound much better when Primo produced the original. I personally like this remix better, but I still love the original. It gives you 2 different "flavors."

  • @ssaleem92 Yeah, I completely agree with you on that one.

  • @EvilDeadEchoes Yeah that's like the Pete Rock remix to Juicy that never got released because they know it was better than the original :/

  • @EvilDeadEchoes uea he sonned preem up on this one

  • dopest dopest dopest dopest

  • a pure dope !!! Regards from France :)

  • ya can't stop it no diggedy

  • does anyone know where i can get Pete Rock Invented the Remix?

  • much better than the original beat!!

  • 1 of the most underrated

  • This beat is orgasmic .....man!!!

  • Pete rock is the best at remixin' tracks!

this one, Das EFX real hiphop and so many other classics...

    but Preemo's still No1

  • i like the beat but i dont think it fits the mood of the song

  • Of course it does. Anything can and will fit to anything when it comes to music. That's why it's called art, in it's form.

  • I dunno, to me it seems to happy. Like, the guy's talking about battling his arch enemies and there's this, for lack of a better term, happy beat playing. It kinda dulls the impact of the song imo.

it's a great beat, i just dont think it fits the mood

  • That's the problem. You THINK the beat doesn't fit the lyrics. Just FEEL the whole song for what it is. Production and lyrics together regardless of what's going on, and maybe you'll catch a different vibe. Give it a chance.

  • i dont understand what you mean when you say "production and lyrics together regardless of whats going on" . i actually think this fits the song okay and can be an alternative versuion of the song. like this beat makes him sound more triumphant when he talks about his enemies, like hes actually winning, while the other one sounded like he was lockked inn a deadly struggle.

i dunno i like both, i just prefer the first mood better

  • Exactly what I meant. You"ve just explained it, in the first paragraph. Now do you see how 2 different productions can change a whole vibe, to what you FELT to 1 song? That's what music is about, no rules making it, to any certain way. It doesn't have to sound, or be a certain way to effect you. You've already complimented on THIS version, but you like the original better and that's OK.

  • here is the question who is better primo or pete rock anyone any ideas?????????

  • it's close, but ima go with primo.... he always came wit those funky, hard beats.....id choose him just for come clean alone....but pete rock is one of the best ever dont get it twisted

  • i used to think premo, but now i think pete is way funkier.

  • wack name

  • DAAAMMMM.

    pete rock KILLIN this shit!

  • Pete Rock may be the dopest remix producer ever! This **** is raw!

  • sounds great

  • I listen to both version and all i can think is How can two musical genius of the same genre both emerged during the same era. At least 00's has 9th. And yes i am comparing 9th to Premo and Pete Rock cuz there all beasts imo.

  • marco polo is this generations preemo

  • Fuck u! Jeru wasnt picked to work with premier for nothin

  • Such a sick song thats been slept on.

  • True. I feel like Jeru was slept on.

  • Pete rock was not playin when he made this beat

  • you mean it ... its chilled but also a bit hardcore one of the best remixes of pete rock

  • person without a life!!!

  • lol

  • Wow. The lyircs are quite profound. Can someone direct Soulja Boy and his fans to this video? Please?

  • they are too stupid to understand what words like "ignorance" means. kind of ironic. Thats why they choose to listen to gay radio music, they dont want songs to have a message, just money, cars and hoes with a catchy hook.

  • @mariusbleek Yeah all those stupid club tracks that do nothing but make the youth of today even more likely to stay stuck in poverty instead of trying to better themselves. Tracks just disrespect women and it sadly gets play.

  • @mariusbleek I generally agree with your comment but to call the commerical radio bullshit 'gay' is a little ignorent in itself. no homo word

  • Why? They'd hate it like the ignorant "people" they are.

  • it made me smile so much the other day when XM radios Backspin channel played this song. love Jeru.

  • Yo I love this track... I have the instrumental version.... I just like to chill and just listen to it...

    HOT

  • It's amazing how Pete Rock's style contrasts DJ Premier's style in this remix.

Premo has the darker Jazz sound in the original track, while Pete Rock goes with the smooth Soul Jazz formula in the remix.

  • I'm tripping balls holy fuck. This song is incredible.

  • i cant stop listening to this song this is the dopest shit ever

  • Me neither!

  • One of the DOPEST REMX'S EVAAAAAAAA

  • after the explosion nothin left/ cuz i know dim mak poison hand/ touch of death.

    SICK!!!!!

  • Chocolate Boy Wonder!!!!

  • one of the best shits I have ever heard/

  • this is one of the greatest most profound records of any genre...pete rock is a genius...and jeru's analogy is unmatched even to this day...a song with an ill ass story line and an even greater message...that's what i miss most in hip hop...

  • much props to primo for the original definately on point, but petes version, just took me to the zone, this remix will go down as one of my alltime favorite hip hop tracks

  • the original version and the remix both kick ass!!!!

  • WORD.

  • peace

  • the only time primo and pr on the same track

  • nope dj premier made real hip hop-das efx, and pete rock made a remix as well.

  • as far as i know jeru didnt like that he wasnt the one that can decide anything and this soo who knows what type of beat he would use for it ..

i like the primo breakbeat and this ones good aswell... thx for upload

but the vid i guess isnt original.. how u changed it in an edit proggie or with avs studio winamp :D (i love avs and worked with it 1999-2006)
