If you buy a Samsung 9-series in the same price class as a MBP, you're going to get about the same battery life. Remember tha most people have really cheap pc's, and of course they will have bad battery life compared to ha really expensive one. My Samsung get about 6 and a half hours

@THEETRUTHTELLER There's no such company that tests their battery pushing the CPU to 100% from 100percent to total battery drainage. You probably won't render video, import =>export RAW photos or play games when you're taking notes on class. Surfing the web and working in Microsoft Word is the best test.

Don't bother with a Quad core laptop / macbook ... They're hot and the battery is beyond terrible, doing Photoshop, 3Dmodeling I can get about 45 mins battery... did I forget they're LOUD! ... I'm actually going to downgrade my Quad Core Laptop for a Macbook pro 13 inch just so I have better battery.

I series processors are supposed to be better on the battery life. For example, check out the Toshiba Portege R835-P56x, one of the many Windows laptops with better battery life than a MBP.
