I teach Science & every year after Science Fairs we give our students a questionaire asking them what books they read, shows they watch etc. We were surprised in last couple of years that more kids say they watch the original series than the new series.
So I wonder, can you make a CGI series like the Japanese do where we could use original cast's voices for their 'younger' avatars?
I know most of the original fans who didn't like the new series, would join these students in watching. Possible?
Look up Richard Hoagland. He has uncovered new evidence regarding a conspiracy of the space program. He believes there is a big cover up going on regarding true origins of the human race. The the true history of the human race is closer to the plot of star wars or this show in 1978 BSG. Look up what Richard Hoagland says regarding the Egyptians and space. It reminded immediately of this wonderful show. It begs the question where did george lucas and the producers of BSG 1978get their ideas from!
'Saga of a Star World' was a tremendous opening to the show. Originally made as a stand-alone mini series, and with a simultaneous cinema release, when the Network saw it they were so impressed that they asked for it to be made into a series instead. But the budget they offered for the remainder of the series was miniscule compared to the cost of the initial mini series episodes, resulting in many of the special effects shots having to be reused endlessly.
I'm having a hard time getting use to watching the remake. The original is still the best despite there were problems in making it.Besides Edward James Olmos who would make a great Adama if he is given a great script,I've never heard of the actors in the new one.Richard Hatch,Lorne Greene,Lloyd Bridges,Brit Eckland, those were names I knew before Galactica was made.Hey FOX,let Glen know the offer still stands to bring Galactica to your network.
The Show was such a GREAT HIT, easily trouncing its Sunday competition week after week. WHY DID THEY CANCEL IT when they show was going up the ceilling?
Critics may have derided it as "Star Wars on TV", but its fanbase definitely rivalled that of the Lucas film.
Our parents were big fans, have entired dvd collection. We weren't born yet(3 roommates) but we actually like this original version better than the 2005 version. One of us works in Cable Company programming. We were told that the original series had far greater ratings than the 2005 series for instance. But Lucas sued the producers for it being too close to Star Wars. That's why last season had no space stuff, combat etc, all on earth. Dad hated Star Wars people forcing this series off the air.
Nice show-- I'm not being sarcastic--, although at the same time it feels like a spin-off of Star Wars, released last year (in context of the show), even the Stu's music score strongly resembles John Williams's!
The effects of the intro are a WOW! Not bad when working on a much smaller budget than a movie!
Mcnee was the right choice to play the cylon imperious leader and do the narration. On one of the websites it was revealed had Galactica got a second or third season, one of the storylines was that Lucifer and the centurions were to launch a coup to remove the imperious leader from power and Lucifer become the new Cylon leader making them even more dangerous and deadlier. The Cylons versus Darth Vader's empire in a space war,my money is on the Cylons.Anyone disagrees with me?Weigh in on the debate.
This is one of the best introduction of a movie and/or TV series I have seen.If Universal Studios had given Larson in pushing back production of the TV series for one year,he may have killed Star Wars.Which brings me to the question everyone is asking. If the Cylons and Darth Vader's empire were to get into a war,who would win?My money is on the Cylons.
Actually I'm one of the 9% of the Germans who do (moderately) support Bush. Furthermore I'm one out of 1/82500000 million Germans who like Ann Coulter.
But I don't like it when someone is going after our Inseläffchen. That's our job.
It's a Kraut-Tommy thing.
You know: one world cup and two world wars.
USA has nothing to do with football (you don't even call it football).
The Galactica movie was one of the first ever movies that I watched on VHS video as a kid in the early eighties. I remember being blown away by the eerie and majestic title themes. As an opening sequence, it still looks and sounds good today.
I still really like the feel of the original series. There are parts that are pretty camp, but at its best it is pure space opera. The new one has a much different feel. Less epic but far more real and imersive.
You know what had it not been for the orignal BSG there would be no re-imagine. Personally I'd like them to go back and clean the film, and digitize it like they did with the Original Star Trek series. Had BSG been giving a fair chance it could have kicked ass like Star Trek and Star Wars.
Are you kidding? Gino is the worst series I've ever seen! I can't stand such a blantant rip-off of the original. Everything that made the 1978 series a classic, Gino ripped-off and ruined.
Hey believe me, I like how the original series portrayed the fall of the colonies, how the crew aboard the Galactica watched their fall. The Living Legend was an awesome episode, and I thought the Return of Starbuck was a good episode as well. Maybe it's because I wasn't alive to originally see it, but from today's perspective it's quite outdated in comparison to "GINO" as you wish to call it.
How is GINO a rip off? It obviously is a differently interpreted version. If you don't like it that is your opinion, but who can bash the new series after episodes like Resurrection Ship and Exodus 1&2? Have you even watched the entirety of the new series? The miniseries is mostly trash compared to Seasons 2 and 3.
Wow....the intro to the original "Battlestar Galactica" is like "Star Wars", but without the opening crawl that tells the story of an episode. I haven't seen "Battlestar Galactica", so I'm going to watch it anyway....
Hah. It's the fad to bash old stuff. The new series is too boring, the original is fun. Sophisitcated cumless bucket sophisticants don't know that word at all. Fake Galactica fan

A bunch of evil robots vs. English accented junior officers with bad teeth? Hmmm....
Pohlerbear00 4 years ago
What is this about the bad teeth. You might have more ppl without any health care than England has inhabitants after all.
And I guess these around 50 million have good teeth - do they? Or the working poor.
Let the Inseläffchen alone.

I remember the various promos for this back in '78. One was "First there was Star Trek, then there was Star Wars, now there is Battlestar Galactica!"
Another was "The excitement of Star Trek, the wonder of Star Wars, and now the deep space adventure of Battlestar Galactica!"

Upon closer inspection, this theme song is just a rip off of the star wars theme song, this show is a rip off of all previous shows, it suck, huge.
