Well, I don't particularly think that Matt believes in any kind of higher being...He IS an Atheist, and in Take a Bow ("burn in hell for your sins") he's just using that line to show how bad the leaders of the world actually are. "Burn in hell" is a pretty emotive way of putting it. It's a simple phrase with a lot of meaning, whether religious or not.
