This is a great rendition. I have a hard time choosing between this one and the one by Ileana Cotrubas. The latter is a gentler voice; Zeani comes across as way more powerful. I'll save both of them to my favourites.

She sang it, as far as I know, just in Bucharest in 1971, aged 45, where this recording was made. As you say, she really sounds ideal for the role, regal, dignified passionate and tragic. I need to research the other cast names.
