Many of Bruces instructors in Wing Chun in China would have had no trouble defeating him. He was not a favored student, he was only 18 when he left China so he was never taught all of the wing chun system, thats why he developed Jeet Kun do because he hadnt learnt all there was to know by 18.

Everyone seems to forget octagon matches have rules. On the street, there are no rules. Throat strikes, gouging the eye, groin, ripping your throat out... that is what true martial arts can teach you. That is why it is so annoying hearing uneducated people say UFC fighters are the best blah blah blah. There are many people in the world who are just normal people going to work, living their normal lifes that would severely devastate any one of those fighters.

He was able to make it work, but most people who study under that style will most likely, never acquire the speed, strength, pinpoint accuracy and master the timing / distance dynamics he demonstrated in his fights. That is why 95% of all fights end up on the ground, AND YES... I am a supporter of ground fighting skills. One should always have other "styles" at their disposal.

Virtually none of the strikers I've observed in the Octagon possessed any of those traits, which is why "strikers" have lost to other styles. It is a very, very, VERY rare occurrence to come across strikers in that category, which is why 95% of fights end up on the ground.

Many of Bruces instructors in Wing Chun in China would have had no trouble defeating him. He was not a favored student, he was only 18 when he left China so he was never taught all of the wing chun system, thats why he developed Jeet Kun do because he hadnt learnt all there was to know by 18.

Karate is to boxy, TKD is impratical if your opponent creates distance etc. Also his film makers state that they had to have him slow down. With a camera today still couldn't catch it unless you had a high speed. Film speed hasn't changed. 24fps. Also, 200lbs to 15 ft ceiling. idk.

And yes, fighting has changed. It changed as knowledge of human anatamy did. Everyone seems to forget octagon matches have rules. On the street, there are no rules. Throat strikes, gouging the eye, groin, ripping your throat out... that is what true martial arts can teach you. That is why it is so annoying hearing uneducated people say UFC fighters are the best blah blah blah. There are many people in the world who are just normal people going to work, living their normal lifes that would severely devastate any one of those fighters.

He was able to make it work, but most people who study under that style will most likely, never acquire the speed, strength, pinpoint accuracy and master the timing / distance dynamics he demonstrated in his fights. That is why 95% of all fights end up on the ground, AND YES... I am a supporter of ground fighting skills. One should always have other "styles" at their disposal.

@Siniztar88 For any of those "striking arts" to work, one has to exude lightning quick speed, pinpoint accuracy, deliver with devastating impact, and be skilled at timing / distance dynamics. Virtually none of the strikers I've observed in the Octagon possessed any of those traits, which is why "strikers" have lost to other styles. It is a very, very, VERY rare occurrence to come across strikers in that category, which is why 95% of fights end up on the ground.

All you guys are silly, go look up some vids of SGM Ed Parker, including the ones with him training Bruce. Mr Parker hosted the IKC in Cali for years. the very events that showcased all of Bruce lees demos. Lee was a great martial artist and showmen. He did aide in the Martial arts movement, but Mr Parker was a bad man!

@Siniztar88 I don't know much about bruce lees record, but he had more speed, agility and strength than a lot of the ufc fighters and fedor. He probably put up more weights than them on certain lifts as well. He easily has the strongest core out of all of them which is pretty much where a person's power comes from.

I don't need to go read about martial arts, I participate in it. Power is speedxweight and although fedor is much heavier, he is slow compared to Bruce lee too. If it stays standing BL all day. I don't think Fedors looping telegraphed punches are going to be quick enough. Agreed on BL demonstrations though. can't be done in ring.

@adamzez Bruce was a great fighter no dough back then? now we have a different type of fighters, yes Bruce had speed and submission skills, but very limited? i beleive Bruce would defeat any UFC fighter on speed wise. But sooner or later during the fight i would guarantee that the more skillful submission expert would counter Bruce's speed by taking him down. There's a lot of skillful fighters that have advance there skills in extreme measures that can compete to Bruce, beleive it or not!
