I totally agree with franklispeaking1, I keep coming back to it too, it's totally amazing, every performer on that stage is truly truly gifted and talk about being complimentary to one another...jeez they've got it all....anyone answered my earlier query about whether this was ever released as CD......I'm not a prayin' man but if there is a god let him/her release it ib=n THEIR label!!
Astounding, and very reminiscent of someone that Humphrey Lyttleton played on one of his Monday night shows. He said the guy played the "Puckalo", it was either Dahoud or Joy Spring and he was just as amazing.
Just so everyone knows, the pan flute is definitely a chromatic instrument (ask Zamphir!). I know because I've performed with Damian and played the instrument. It's a "G" scale. He is able to get chromatics by bending the flute (his own technique). He is an amazing artist. the instrument
That little dot below his lower lip...obviously a secret air hole connected to fuel rods hidden in his pants. Amazing if you notice..he's not playing the lead pan flute line, but actually the bass.
@shizohal Technique and practice....Howard Levy does stuff like this on harmonica...half blowing to get desired notes as well as other techniques.....I can't even imagine the level of finesse.
I love it! I Would never believe that it could be possible to play this kind of Jazz on Pan flute! Chapeau! great arrangement! Thanks to Ulrich Herkenhoff who gave me the link... Cheers to all music lovers. Alexandre Cellier
Wow - sounds amazing Damian. BTW for those who don't realize it, the pan flute is not a chromatic instrument. The ability to play bebop on it at all is as amazing as the speed with which he plays it. A one of a kind talent!
Hey Damian, finaly your concert is on youtube, I was waiting so long for it, great your playing and manny thancs for your dedication to the panflute in this way :)

Amazing. FYI: Eddie quotes Clifford Brown's "Joyspring" at 4:38, prompting a "Whoa" from one of the other band members.

The pianist is Randy Porter. He resides in Portland, Oregon and is one of the best pianists I've ever heard. Check out his website and cd's.

The panflute does not seem to be diatonic, unless he is bending the notes.

Correction- to the previous post. It should say "not a chromatic instrument". The pan flute is a diatonic instrument.

The Drummer is the Great Reggie Jackson. He is Diane Schuur's stick man and also plays behind Columbus Piano/Organ virtuoso Bobby Floyd.
