While I don't enjoy supporting the "slob down the street" I also don't enjoy supporting the "rich asshole buy a new car" either - it isn't so much a matter of giving everything to people who don't work, but rather ensuring that there are incentives to work your tail off while at the same time making sure that the wealthy don't have an iron rule over everyone.
But with socialism where everyone get's the same thing, and working hard to make extra money is considered Greedy and wrong, where is the incentive to improve? Where is the incentive to do a good job?
The wealthy are already paying a greater percentage of taxes than the middle, and the lower pay class does not pay any taxes.

While I generally agree with what you say here, I think that you're making a gross overstatement relative to the current state of affairs. While I don't enjoy supporting the "slob down the street" I also don't enjoy supporting the "rich asshole buy a new car" either - it isn't so much a matter of giving everything to people who don't work, but rather ensuring that there are incentives to work your tail off while at the same time making sure that the wealthy don't have an iron rule over everyone.

skyrere - The rich are hardly taxed enough. Thanks to Bush's tax breaks back in 2001-2002 they barely have to pay what they should be paying. Someone with a private business who made over 150,000 dollars yearly would not be taxed any higher then someone who made only 75,000 a year, it's absurd. And all of this "socialist" stuff is paranoia at it's worst. Not to mention these people you're talking baout ARE NOT LAZY. They have jobs and work just as hard as the "rich" people do and need money.

I would rather give to the charity of my own choosing instead of to the government to create more welfare programs. How about the creation of jobs? Wealthy people creat jobs by opening businesses. It was just an observation. I rarely see anyone who is black, gay or a celebrity that isn't a democrat. I know Chuck Norris is a republican. Other then him, I can't think of any other celebs that are republicans, that are outspoken that is. I also have a few gay friends, and only 1 is a republican, and he said all his other gay friends both male and female, are democrats. So that is what I am going off of. I don't know if it is a TRUE statistic.
