I love your pics n the vignettes too! It reminds me of film photos. I am a member of The RebelPixel Photography and we love your works!! U are most welcome to Singapore n we would love to collaborate with you!
I noticed the strong vignetting also and was was wondering if you are adding that in post. I also have the 5D MKII and have shot many images with the cheapie 50m f1.8 and do not have much vignette at all. It looks good in your images but was wondering what 50m lens you were using.
Bert - you're an inspiration. This is a amazing. A really really great idea. You have a lot of talent to be able to find so many different ideas and angles - such an exercise really pushes you!
From a technical point of view I notice your 50mm has a LOT of vignette :)
Awesome! Sometimes I feel restricted to shooting what I have to professionally and don't enter this universe of shooting random things for practicing and improvment. Thanks for sharing this idea.
thanks for sharing this, and also all of your other more instructive videos! it's great material for a learning photographer as myself. The only thing i'm not so keen on is that music :) it's not as emotional as the shots you take ;)
besides that, great shots, and interesting project! keep it up :)
I am being constructive. They are, largely, uneventful snapshots.
Who says you have to come up with "genius" every day? Why not just settle for something meaningful? I re-watched this and some of them are decent, but there's a lot of crap here. He needs to learn how to edit his work and filter out the throwaways.
Also, I don't post my photos on YouTube. I'm a published photographer and I make my living at it -- that's all you need to know.
who says you have to come up with genius every day? you are. he is doing a 50-day photo-a-day excercise, of course they arent going to be all genius.
It is pretty stupid that you are attacking him for doing this, when it was the community of his fans that wanted him to do this in the first place. if you look at the comments, nobody else agrees with you; they love his work and that is why they requested this, because they wanted to see more.
as a professional photographer, you should know that
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
His "fans" are stupid YouTube users. What the fuck do they know? I would hope he would have the smarts not to make important business decisions based on what the average YouTube'er thinks of his photographs.
Also, I'm not really "attacking" him. I said his photos were boring, which they are, and haven't really taken it beyond that.
I am also not going to show you my website! LOL. I am extremely proud of my work but I don't associate it with my YT comments at all. You will have to sit & wonder.
You are a troll. You will not associate your photography with your account because a) you have no photography or b) you are unwilling to associate your work with your ignorant bullshit.
His fans know good photography, and I would argue that they are much more inteligent than the average youtube user. And yes, you are attacking him. You said his photos are boring, but did not offer an explanation. That is not a critique, and is not valuable discourse.
I don't use my youtube account to showcase my photography, I use it to comment on other videos. I like to be able to separate my professional life with YouTube.
This whole line about "his fans know good photography" etc, is a crock of shit and you know it.
The photos in this video are mostly boring snapshots. That's good criticism because it's an honest assessment of what they are. They don't hold much meaning to anyone but him. Even he would agree with that.
1-bertstefani does not seperate his professional life with youtube, and as a result he has many more jobs than you do. Like chase jarvis, he realizes the job is more about networking than good photography.
2- it's a fucking photo-a-day excercise. obviously these aren't all going to be great, but as a whole they are very impressive, and if you look around you'll notice that you're the only one complaining.
finally, based on your channel comments, you pull this bs on every video you find. gtfo
I make enough to keep me going. If he is doing better, more power to him. I still think it's important to take good photos, especially if you're going to attach your name to them and post them on your website.
You could look at a photo/day exercise as meaningless and take meaningless photos, or you could use it as an opportunity to take fifty really great photos.
Anyway, there's no point in arguing this now. I think he's deleted the last few comments I made anyway.
Bert, fantastic pictures. quick question, how do you like the 5d II vs your 1d III and 1ds II. im thinking about going for the 1d mark III but the full frame on the 5d mark II is pretty appealing too
Great idea and great results!

There are some great shots in the video.
I like it, it shows life as it is, mostly family.
Didn't really care for the music though.

if you dont have anything constructive, say nothing.
#1 it is pretty damn hard to come up with pieces of genius every day, yet he did a much better job than most can do
#2 let's see your attempt

Which 50mm lens are you using Bert?

In one of his videos he says he uses the 50mm 1.4 USM. Saying the 1.2 L doesn't do enough more for the price to him.
