  • That's bullshit towing. WTF

  • @09victoryrc I agree.

  • Would of been better just pushing it home...

  • @ubcs109 Triple-A and a flatbed.

  • @artistmac. You right. If done properly you won't damage anything. First the tow driver needs assistance from highway patrol (trooper) to perform without fear. I am in this type of job and we always request assisttance

  • Watched the whole video. Flat beds are not freeway trucks. That truck there, is the ones for freeway patrol services. They are there to remove cars out of the freeway. Not to tow you home. And its your fault your car breaks down or crash so don't complain about damage.

  • @Leduan81 First of all, if it's done properly, moving a car off the expressway shouldn't rip apart the rear fascia, as happened here. Second, you're not seriously suggesting that expressway breakdowns are the owner's fault, are you? Cars stop working, Leduan. That's why carmakers offer warranties. That's why every car has either a spare tire and jack or, in the Corvette's case, run-flat tires. And that's why I have a AAA membership, so IDOT never gets near my car.

  • It's on the freeway. The driver just did that just to get the car out of there. And do it better outside the freeway. Driver are risking their life there so a car that's totalled isn't worh their life.

  • wow... just wow...

  • That is an "amazing" video. =p

  • isnt that the danryan if so accidents happen all the time on that freeway

  • This was a lousy tow job. The driver did not secure the steering wheel, Did not have the care secured to the wheel lift, He had the car too high for the front end & this should have went on a flat bed.

Now I don't know if he was an experienced driver or not, but he's sure got some explaining to do.

  • See, this is why you don't buy those cheap ass rims.

  • Where was this by??? Montrose Outbound or Inbound?? Cant tell...

  • @Breze84 It was in the inside southbound express lane of the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/94), just north of 47th St.

  • Surely that's not the correct way to tow a 3 wheeled car - let alone a corvette?!

  • @snoozinghipo This is exactly the wrong way, and it's the reason that anybody who cares about their car at all has a Motor Club membership so they don't have to deal with IDOT if something does happen.

  • Idioti ! Nu le v-a ajunge salariul sa plateasca daunele provocate masinii.Mai bine se lasau pagubasi.

  • Wow was that ever painful to watch! If I were the owner of the Vette, I would have raised complete hell because of that. Corvettes are all too damn common where I live, seems like everyone and their mother has one, but theyre ok at best for me, all a personal prefrence.

  • @93SaturnSL1 I'll always wonder if the guy at the very beginning of that video, leaning against the Jersey barrier, is actually the owner. He looks way too calm, considering that a $50,000 car he was driving just smacked the wall and lost a wheel.

  • The IDOT seems like an IDIOT

  • Were do you work that still has you at the office at 2am?

  • @dpimpchris I wasn't at the office. I work at home most of the time.

  • wow wtf i hope he lost his job for being such a dumbass

  • Thats what you get for buying a car made out of plastic, haha.

  • that tow truck driver deserves to be shot.. what an idiot... seriously... have some respect numb nuts...

  • @wrangomonger He meant IDOT. It stands for Illinois Department of Transportation....

  • That was painful to watch, going to go back to the cops pepper spaying hippies to cheer me back up.....

  • @NTW64 To that brief but heartfelt assessment, I can add absolutely nothing :D

  • No such car....Z05!

  • wow

  • Alot of people are commenting on the procedure of the tow truck driver and how they failed. Whats your advocation here artistmac?

Amazing how many "Corvette haters" here but then again people only hate because they cannot have.

  • @tangledline You really hit the nail on the head about the Corvette haters. Even if they could afford a used one, the insurance, especially on the under-25's, would crush them.

As far as the tow-truck driver (he and his colleagues should treat other people's cars as their own) he should be horsewhipped, but he's not as much to blame as the Corvette driver, who managed to make one of the best-handling cars in the world swap ends on a clear, dry, warm morning on a gentle interstate curve.

  • @artistmac Sheesh that blows. Here in Texas, insurance is fairly priced however it does help if you have a reputable driving record. I pay about $100/mo for full insurance on my Z06. Some see that as good and some see that as bad (the elderly)

Either way there is no way I would leave my Vette without making sure it was on a flatbed. I think that Vette would have been totaled out though-they can be pretty expensive to repair.

  • @tangledline My God, the rates in Texas really are low. I was paying that much a month for full coverage on the Fiero back in '84 here in Chicago. I was 28 then; when I turned 30 in '86, that same coverage dropped by almost half. Not such a big price break on car insurance for having turned 50, but the medical insurance jumped sky-high. This age obsession insurance companies have is really getting -- forgive the pun -- old.

  • @artistmac Hah...getting old and sick is inevitable-wrecking your Corvette is not hence the forgiveness on insurance rates. I am GenX btw.

  • @tangledline Wrecking it may not be inevitable, but in certain parts of the country, theft and vandalism are almost a guarantee -- the vandalism courtesy of those haters we were talking about . That's why I decided not to buy a used C3 Corvette back in '84. The purchase price of a nice '70-'72 convertible would have been about $7,000 - less than a new Fiero. And one of the few nights I left the Fiero parked on the street in 28 years, some idiot tried to pry off the hood medallion.

  • @tangledline The Corvette driver was equally at fault for not have a membership in a Motor Club, which would have dispatched a flatbed to tow him the minute he said he had a Corvette. This whole situation could have been avoided. I've been stalled on an interstate shoulder in the Fiero with a busted alternator belt, and waved off one of IDOT's trucks because I knew a AAA tow was coming for me. A big shout-out to AAA.

  • typed in "idot" and this was the first video

  • they shouldve sent a flat bed to pick tht up not a truck tht size

  • Well, he didn't or maybe even couldn't close the claw on the wheel lift part so it could of been broke and he just didn't know it but as a general rule of thumb, you don't want to block or have any sort of obstruction on the highway or any road way so they may of just been trying to move it to a better spot for safety reasons

  • Wait..IDOT..huh! I read it as "IDIOT" like 5 time >.>

    *rub eyes*

  • how bout this, dont be a drunk fuck and you wont have to worry about getting your shit pile corvette towed/damaged

  • Why is that new Vette on the side of the road in the first place? Did the driver run out of gas or fry the clutch? Dumbazz.

  • for some reason my eyes read IDOT as IDIOT....oh well, pretty interchangeable at least in this clip.

  • I hope the fire department were on their way to save that Vette from that moron.

  • @Myka138 Thanks. I guess he started his weekend a little early. They really should vet the people they sell high-performance cars to.

  • Looks like he wasnt trained on the correct way to tow low profiled sports cars, especially using a BIG ass tow truck to begin with, i mean call out a flat bed or put some wheel dollies on the front to rise it up of the ground ?? But i guess thats why MOST tow companies are inssured for idiots driving for them like this

  • @bnetx1 I suspect IDOT had procedures in place to tow low-slung sports cars, and this guy didn't follow any of them. BTW, one of his co-workers wrote me asking me to take this video down. Ain't happenin'; it's staying up. If he had given some North Shore personal-injury lawyer's Bugatti Veyron this kind of treatment, he (and IDOT) would have a lot more to worry about than a 6-minute YouTube video.

  • Corvettes can only be towed safely on the back of a rollback..never a tow truck.

  • tower is aweseome!

  • n00b tow truck driver

  • i hope you turned that video in to the cpd thats bull shit the tow driver must have been drunk or somthing idk but he ruiend that guys vette you can see the guys wheel fell off someone clearly didn't tighten the lugs i'm sure the rotor was done but overall the car was fine untill the tow driver showed up i hope the owner of that car sued the shit out of the city for that i'm sure you're video could help. you have the time and date i'm sure that's I-94 they can look up insident reports that day

  • The point of what the truck driver did was to move the vehicle to a safe location to hook up to it properly! If you couldn't tell, he was on the left shoulder (the unsafest place to be for a two truck driver) I would have done the same thing!

  • they can still sell the engine and trans for a couple k's lol

  • Thats not trash- boy they got it wrong

  • WOW! It's nice that that fire department showed up so quickly to put out the fire from the sparking wheels!

Why didn't he just winch it from the front? Or call in a flatbed "scooper"....?

  • @SeberHusky How do you winch it from the front on a busy interstate? Not like they can close the entire interstate just so the truck can turn around and winch from the front..... What if IDOT doesn't have flatbeds or one isn't available? You can't just leave the car there. Insurance will cover the damage and no one died. Sounds like a good night to me.

  • @gtasalova6969 in germany they close the entire street, just to give the truck driver enough safety.

The cops always have to ensure the scene of accident, when it's located on a Autobahn (like the interstates in USA).

There is to much traffic on our streets even in the night and on the most road sections it's allowed to drive as fast as your car goes. So it's always necessary to have cops or fire fighters do make it save.

  • DOES THIS REMIND ANYONE ELSE OF....that scene in the 1999 movie, "Office Space" where the tow truck drivers are trying to tow Lumburgh's Porsche out of the parking spot, and they rip the rear bumper completely off? lmao

  • @himster22 would love 2 hear your brilliant explanation of why corvettes are trash! Could it be that your just to much of a broke ass to even afford 1 so instead your just gonna hate on em? You sir are the trash!

  • @himster22 Explain, please.

  • @artistmac He drives a Prius

  • @Bounding4miles Ah, Toyota's electric doorstop. That explains his foul mood :D

  • @himster22 and you probably drive a car that books for a whopping 500.00 You probably never drove anything in the price range this car is in or even close to let alone owned anything in that price range.

  • i would have told the towtruck driver to call in for a flat bed.

  • dont u mean idiot not idot

  • @chevyv8350 No, I meant IDOT. Illinois Department Of Transportation. That's the state agency that operates those yellow Minutman tow trucks.

  • @artistmac aww alright

  • mdrchod truck driver...

  • OMG! I would have kicked the shit out of that guy if he did that to my vette! First off, you don't raise the rear of a corvette that high with how low they are in front. This tow driver is a complete jackass.

  • i think the guy was rushing to tow it before the cops showed up t save the Vett drivers from getting arrested for being too dumb to drive

  • hahahahaahahahaha shit box the driver has ben arested for being stpid enuf to crash going in a srait line most vet owners cant drive o i think the towtruck guy just wanted to finish the car off the hole other side is gon

  • hahahahaahahahaha shit box the driver has ben arested for being stpid enuf to crash going in a srait line most vet owners cant drive

  • I desperately waited for his head to be crushed under the axle. But alas, he lives to tow another day.

  • hahahaha..thats hilarious..stupid ass tow truck driver..musta been his 1st day

  • ohh its sooo bad ....but i cant stop watching! its like a car-guys horror movie! deffintly a scam of some sort to be just leaving your vette....on the side of the fing freeway...

  • I.D.O.T. is used to clear the highway of hazards to traveling motorist. If by chance the owner of the corvette had called a flatbed tow truck, I.D.O.T. would have still removed the corvette off the highway. Unless the flatbed would have been on scene when I.D.O.T. arrived. This is for the safety of all involved, in regards to the tow truck operators actions he should have manually controlled the stinger to make sure it was connected properly.

  • AAA doesn't tow from an accident scene... You think the police are going to wait around for 2 hours before they show up??

  • @MasterBiss The police would have to arrest me before I let this happen to any car I valued and cared about

  • @MasterBiss AAA DOES tow from accidents. had a car totaled and used AAA to snag it. On a highway it may be a different story. Also, they're not always 2 hours out. That's usually when it's stormy and there are a lot of accidents.

  • @MasterBiss AAA DOES tow from accidents. had a car totaled and used AAA to snag it. On a highway it may be a different story. Also, they're not always 2 hours out. That's usually when it's stormy and there are a lot of accidents. Also, this tow truck driver looks like a moron lol.

  • Where is the owner in all of this? It's likely one of the guys you see in the beginning, but after awhile they all disappear. If I were to wreck my car (I am a Fiero owner myself, btw) and I need it towed I'd be around the whole time and if possible I would've been riding shotgun in the tow truck. Then again I'd request that they use a flatbed instead, unless it is a writeoff...

  • @akroto My sentiments exactly. Somebody who can afford $50,000 for a Corvette should be able to afford $87 a year for a AAA membership, so that if something like this happens, they're sure the car will be flatbedded to wherever it needs to go. As the owner of two old cars, I'll never risk being without AAA. Ever.

  • @akroto

I think all wheel lift tow trucks should be equip. with dollies, and this guy obviously needs one.

. Towing is easy to do, along with common sense.

  • oh why couldnt the corvette fall on the dumbass when he was hooking it up?

  • i saw a tow truck in los angeles did the same thing! he was getting on the freeway and the brake rotor was diggin a loooooong hole in the freeway. some people...

  • I don't want to watch, but I can't look away!

  • @TheFiremonkeyman Luring the unwary YouTube viewer; it's all a part of my nefarious plan! Because I am....... Dr. Evil! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

  • @artistmac Hows Mini Me Doing?? I miss that little shit?

  • the sparks at the end is the best part!

  • if the tow truck driver happened to brake a leg and i happen to be the only one helping, i would tie a rope to his ankle of his good leg, and start dragging. fucking asshole.

  • 0:58 whoa! nice wheels!

  • @trd88noz Spokeless. The latest thing;)

  • @artistmac lol exactly! its like tron legacy stuff.. lol

  • @trd88noz

    Real high quality. lol

  • move along nothing to see here. No crash, no action.

  • meanwhile in Africa...

  • fuck this car

  • I CANT WATCH THIS!

  • @ThatBomber Yes, you can! A beautiful sports car getting this kind of treatment is tragic. But... you can look all you want without causing a gapers' block!

  • Do people posting here not realize that the driver of this car already f'd it up when he spun it and crashed into the wall???? The passenger side of the car was destroyed. Who gives a shit about $3000 rims when two of them were already destroyed by the driver. The DOT driver is paid to remove a hazard from the road, not protect people's property.

  • Amazing. He drags it without a front wheel, and at the very end the car has twisted half off already. He's going to lose the whole car into traffic.

  • @OneFastZ06 At least one IDOT driver has seen it: diamonddave713. (See above.) According to him, IDOT has new drivers watch a 30-minute training video, and then sets them loose on an unsuspecting public. I really hope that's not true; if it is, that would explain what happened in this video.

  • That man really loves his job :D

  • is this in chicago!

    hahaha

  • @moy6bandit Yes, this is in Chicago, in the southbound express lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway at 47th St.

  • @artistmac hahaha knew it!

this anit the only time, i seen this like four times

  • HOW IS THIS DIFFICULT???

  • IDOT, missing an 'I' after 'D'

  • @akuhenshin Illinois Department of Transportation, idiot

  • @wonderbread06 yes, my point exactly

  • @akuhenshin ____ Department of Transportation perhaps?

  • @akuhenshin Hey fucktard its his states DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, the "I" before it could be his state. Good game.

  • @akuhenshin

    Illinois Department of Transportation

  • @akuhenshin IDOT: Illinois Department Of Transportation

  • i also blame the owner for not taking care of what's happening to his car and using this kind of truck drivers

  • OMG are u kidding me, how did this guy ever get a licence!!!

  • What kind of Idiot is this truck driver?

It seems that the truck driver was drunk or is it usual in the states?

If this happened to my car and the tower would act like this, he should run fast.

  • @canislupus6633 hahahaha, it was the stupid corvette driver that wrecked his own shit ! :)

  • @Noisyfm1 the corvette driver damaged his car, maybe the garage is guilty, too. Because they forgot to screw the wheel correct on. But the truck driver wrecked it totally. They used the wrong towing truck.

In Germany we only got this kind of towing trucks only for towing other trucks. Cars are picked up on the back of the truck. Only in special cases it's allowed to tow it this way.

  • @canislupus6633 Really? The car was trashed anyway. Insurance will cover all the damage done by the truck driver. The point was to move the car off the interstate to hook up properly.

  • I work for IDOT and don't see anything wrong in this video. Our drivers are mandated to watch a 30 minute training video before being allowed to run calls on their own.

  • @Diamonddave713

Then you and IDOT are a bunch of moronic idiots. You not only tore the guy's rear bumper to shreds, but you then proceeded to drag it down the road trailing sparks, because you left the end with NO WHEEL on the road. Stupid all all around. I hope everyone sees this video, and your comment, so they know to steer clear of you and your company.

  • @Diamonddave713 Lol nothing wrong with wrecking some ones bumper or dragging a car? You are are a rookie.

  • @Diamonddave713

Thirty Minutes of video is more than adequate training. Almost excessive, if you think about it.

  • @Diamonddave713 So you work for IDOT, eh? Then you're probably the perfect person to ask this: Are any IDOT Minuteman trucks flatbeds, and if not, why not? It would have prevented this fiasco (in the hands of a tow driver with more experience than watching a 30-minute training video, that is). In any case, I'm keeping my AAA membership paid up so this kind of thing doesn't happen to either of my cars.

  • I have a feeling something like this happened to my hyundai when it got towed from downtown =/ it never quite drove the same even after the $1200 towards fixing the suspension

  • короче не знаю в чём там суть описания но я бы на месте владельца прострелил бы эвакуаторщику руки... безмозглый ублюдок!!!

    искренне жаль владельца автомобиля!!!

  • video should be renamed to: 2 idiots and a very expensive car

  • If i was the owner of that corvette..........I would have found that towtruck driver and beat the living shit out of him!!! Wrecker drivers have no respect for other peoples cars....bastards!

  • Sure, it's just a Corvette. I have a GTI and would be in tears if something like this happened to it. I have done a lot to my MKV GTI, but still. Just because Corvettes are massed produced, doesn't mean they aren't cool vehicles. A new Corvette of any trim can outrun any car costing at least 3-4x it's amount so I'd have to say they are a pretty sweet vehicle. Flame all you want.

  • just a vette. no big deal people.

  • Wow incompetent pieces of shit

  • also, WOW, if the car's missing a tire now, wouldnt the tower think of putting at LEAST a spare tire on the front if he was gonna tow backwards?!

  • @ApSykesThewolf

The whole hub assembly could have been ripped apart. Otherwise yea, we've used spares on many occasions.

  • @JackinFaBeats still no cops are involved, if an axel is missing a wheel, it should of been flatbedded no cops i assume so its either insurance or he called it in

  • Remember the tow truck driver didn't crash the corvette in the first place! He probably saved that guys life.

  • clearing a crash can take hours some times and it just makes me wonder why we don't have the same type of quick service that Chicago has. I notice it took less than 6 min to clear everything up even to the point that that tow driver beat the fire department to the punch! I believe it would have been even better if he had dragged this corvette on its roof, just to show people with lead feet what the consequences can be.

  • @TheOlds69 you are assuming he caused it. could have been an accident.

  • @matthewmccombs

yes it was an accident! an accident that could have been avoided by driving the limit! I know that curve, you have to pay attention and take it easy around that curve. Plus the guy that posted the video said it was 2 am Friday night with clear dry conditions. Hmmm, that driver must have done something wrong.

  • @TheOlds69 lol still, lets say, YOU was driving a car, motor broke down, Highway patrol towed your car out of the freeway, THIS happened to your car. how would you feel? Yes, they Tow cars that broken down OFF freeways and into parking lots off freeways.

or you got in a wreck? their still gonna tow it.

  • @TheOlds69 how do you know the rim didn't fall off while driving the car. and time does not prove stupid driving i get off work at midnight. Maybe he dosed off. all i am saying is you are assuming he is in the wrong because of type of car and time of day. next we should assume he is a rapist because he has a dick.

  • @TheOlds69 Amen. That curve is infamous, going all the way back to a couple of weeks after the Dan Ryan opened in 1962. Things have gotten a little better since the '07 rebuilding, but not much. I've got other videos on YouTube of the aftermath of drivers wiping out at that same curve, all during clear, dry weather, all but one of them late at night. They're just not paying attention. Sometimes I hear the crash and don't even bother filming them. This was a lucky catch.

  • In Chicago these trucks are responsible for removing crashes quickly so that the motoring public is safer. I hate that my commute is impacted by delays because police and emergency equipment need to do their job by closing and blocking the roadway all because of someone's ignorance. In the western suburbs they have to block the expressway until paramedics are done and then they wait for a flat bed to come and pick up the crash.

  • What is missing from the story is how badly the corvette was damaged from the other side with both passenger side tires gone. Also the location is prone to crashes, and the car was in the lane, wonder why the crash occurred in the first place? Was the driver of the corvette drunk?

  • OH MY GOD A NEW CAR THAT BREAKS DOWN. THAT'S AN AMERICAN SHITBOX.

  • These type of tow trucks need to die. I can't tell you how many I have seen destroy cars. I have seen 2 this year alone towing AWD audi's with just the front wheels up

  • The vehicle recovery operator is a disgrace. Totally unprofessional.

  • You have a corvette, and can't afford a flatbed?

  • Plastic car falls apart like plastic?! No way!

  • Good one less piece of trash on the road.

  • IDOT=IDIOT!?

  • meh, just a vette...

  • 2:10 ),=

  • Wow. My jaw dropped when I saw the tow truck life the car the first time.

  • whos the real idiot lol. someone can spell idiot for the vid title haha

  • @stuntrider15 the towing company is called IDOT...

  • @stuntrider15 IDOT stands for Illinois Department of Transportation, the state agency that oversees those green Minuteman tow trucks. haha yourself;)

  • @artistmac like everyone else knows that cause we all live there........

  • That truck driver will pay back from the vette for the rest of his life.

  • Time to go to the corvette forum and watch grown men cry *trollface.jpg*

  • if I were your boss I'd fire you

  • Ya know it's funny you call the tow truck driver an idiot. This makes you so much of a hypocrite considering you spelled idiot wrong in the first place you dumb fuck. By the way this is a fourteen year old telling you this. And just for the record I am a Chevy person I love them, but Corvettes sure are not Ferrari's. Don't get me wrong though I would choose American over import any day!

  • @patwwe

He wasn't calling the driver an idiot. IDOT stands for Illinois Dept. of Transportation. This happened in Chicago.

  • @litrojan Haha thanks for the information. Sorry long day yesterday...
