@magikk wow what you wrote cannot be further from the truth. Some of the greatest minds of our time for example Albert Einstein were considered to be "bad communicators" yet they are still considered to be the some of the greatest intellectuals of our time. It is hard to believe that you truly think that one's ability to communicate ideas is more important that one's ability to rationalize.
Gawd I thought it was hilarious that Emily had to kept correcting the interviewer.
Emily: We love to play music and share our music and it's that simple, I think these big record companies complicate that and we try to stay away from that.
Karen: So like, I guess the main goal would be to get a big sign from a majour record company.
Emily: No.
Holy crap poor Emily and James, they had to suffer through this ditz.
If you put yourself in the interviewer's shoes, I don't think you'd be so quick to criticize. In many more places she kept this interview conversational, and that's a very hard thing to do sometimes - when you have questions you know you want to ask, and your subjects go in different directions with their answers, as jimmy and emily do here.
The host is a moron. They had this huge rant about how they dont want to sign to a major label and then shes like 'i guess the main goal is to sign with a major label? like, how do undeserving people get all tehse kick ass jobs? ill never understand.
The host was asking "So I guess the ultimate goal INITIALLY, when you are unsigned, is to get that deal.." there is a difference between what she said and "So i guess the main goal would be to get a big deal from a major label" And I personally think, yes most bands have that goal in sight from very early on! In my opinion.
@carvin1657 FOR REAL>>>>>> this interviewer is a total dumbass Im sorry.... as a muscian I love what Emily Haines says about the simplicity of muscianship......
Metric can be a intimidating interview for members of the press. Partly because group doesn't "play the game", sometimes the answers are a bit cryptic. Also because Metric are quite intellectual and cerebral - which is can be a challenge to some more vapid interviewers.

I don't think she's so bad. Very basic questions. At least she's not trying to be something she's not.

Metric is a great band, I'm really dissapointed in the interviewer. She comes off as dumb. Perhaps she is dumb? Yeah, probably.
