Hi Chris. Many thanks for this and your other instructional videos. After many years playing guitar I just bought my first mandolin (Epiphone MM-30S) and am falling in love with it (and, truth be known, you too, just a bit :-) ). You're a great teacher.
What is the Mandolin your playing, it has a great sound. I just received my Kentucky KM-160 but it doesn't ring out like yours does. Also which strings do you reccommend for a beginner ? My strings are really hard to fret, that is the reason I want to change strings, maybe that will help.
Thanks so much for your lessons, your the best on the net.
@debrunskys This is a solid top Flinthill mandolin. They sound great and are pretty inexpensive (less than $200). Mandolin is pretty tough to fret for most beginners. Make sure that your string action is correct. If it is high, that will make it really hard to play. Choose a light weight string instead of a medium weight string. They won't be as loud, but they will make it easier until you get some callouses.
Thank you Thank you Thank you! You not only have an amazing musical talent, but your teaching is great as well!!! I hope to find more of your videos on line.
i want to say thankyou for doing such a wonderful job at teaching this song...i started playing mandolin today and am already playing a song....please please teach more on the mandolin you make it so easy to learn...
