good to see this video again. i think it was this video that gave me the idea to use real audio on a part of one of my videos titled: South Haven Railroad Train Fest 2011
@srr7312 ok,the problem with me buying steam locomotives for my layout is that the grades on it are extremely unrealistic, and usually steam locomotives being that they are usually lighter than diesels have a tough time on em, if push comes to shove, ill double head with my GTW 2-8-2.
@srr7312 yeah,i mean we were really limited on space when we where building my layout, its a 4' 8' layout, if i could have made it one foot wider on each side, they would be more gradual, but usually with two locomotives it makes a little better, i try to stay on the track of only D&H locomotives, but the day that someone makes a plastic shell d&h steam locomotive it will be the end of the world, haha.
@shininghappyperson7 Haha most likely. We had a good amount of space to place our two 4x8 sheets in an L shape, so we were able to acquire a nice fleet of locos and rolling stock. Some stuff that we have tried to acquire won't run on our 18 degree curves, but almost everything else will.
@srr7312 yeah, usually my desire for something comes before me thinking "is this going to look good on a 18 inch radius curve?" i bought a IHC D&H alco c628 that was a mistake, the only other thing that was kinda bad was i bought a B&M E8 locomotive witch is probably worse, i love the "RS" series locomotives, so i have about 6 RS-2's and one rs-3,being that i have such a small layout, i have way to much power and rolling stock, well some day i would like to expand, then maybe it will all even out
@shininghappyperson7 The one time I got an N&W J class 611, and that of course didn't fit, so we settled for a C&O Hudson which somehow managed just fine. I would have liked to make our set DCC but all of our stuff is analog only so we would have to start over with our fleet. Eventually we'll make it into the 21st century.
@shininghappyperson7 thats exactly like me! lol i only run a 4x8 and yet i have 80 locomotives steam ad diesel and like 100 pieces of rolling stock! im a collector but i always enjoy getting new engines
@TheDeputation no not yet. im working on that @srr7312 told me that they were a very exceptional locomotive, so im pondering buying one of those, i know its kinda odd how i have 6 rs-2's but there is a story behind it, i started out with 2 D&H Kato ones, then my dad bought 2 CP ones also kato, witch he gave to me, and then he bought 2 Proto 2000 B&Ms and ended up giving those to me, and he got all different locomotives, haha, i made out pretty well, what are some of your locomotives?
@shininghappyperson7 cool man! and i have to many to describe, most of my stemers have the "6" wheel arrangement meaning six main drive wheels i have 3 0-6-0s with tenders, 2 0-6-0Ts, 3 2-6-0s, a 4-6-2, and a 2-6-6-2 i like the "6" wheel arrangement but i have 3 0-4-0s, a 4-4-0, 2 4-8-2s, a 4-8-4, and an 0-8-0 those are my steamers and they are all different roadnames ATSF SP, C&O, SCVR (made by me) and so many others my channel has videos of all my engines
@TheDeputation wow thats quite a collection!! i would have more steam locomotives if the grades on my railroad weren't so steep and unrealistic. diesels are heavy because of their boxy shape you can cram more weight into the shell, but with steam locomotives, unless they have a metal shell, there isn't much room to add weights in,and still have a boiler that is to scale. so i only have a few that i have tried to modify and add more weight to,i want more, but the same thing happens every time, lol.
@shininghappyperson7 i know right im working on a new 0-6-0T made by MDC its in need of rod work and i have steep grade on the back of my 4x8 but it doesnt do alot to affect them
@TheDeputation i usually run diesels because of this, im trying to get enough money to get a brass D&H steam locomotive, but you know as well as i do those things aren't cheap haha.and ill never see the day that they ever make an accurate plastic she issues ll D&H steam locomotive.so unless i run my 2-8-2 with a short train on full speed you can forget it making it up those hills all alone, if the train is to long ill just slap a Rutland rs-3 infront to give it a boost,it is a CN loco too.
@shininghappyperson7 why did u make such big grades? and brass is in my opinion ridiculous, u get the same drive mechanisms as a plastic dc engine but they think that being made of brass makes it $400 more but the only brass engine i want is a 2-8-2T "minaret" logger
@TheDeputation well with brass i whole heartedly agree, its ridiculous.people will pay thousands of dollars for a toy train that could be going towards something of actual use. like a new car or maybe even a house, idk, the point is its stupid, lol, with the grades, i actually didn't build the layout, it was originally my fathers and when i was oh i dont know around like 9 years old he gave it to me,and we finished it,so i really had no control on what it looked like or what track plans, hehehe
@TheDeputation pretty much, i mean we could but the only way that we could has two choices, we could either have absolutely nothing else in the room besides the table,or it would have to me moved into my room, and as much as i would love it in my room, we have cats, they would probably hop up their every chance they would get, so im kinda stuck.

@srr7312 its pretty detailed looking, its like a step up from a 2-8-0 but not too long.

@shininghappyperson7 That's true. Even though the decapod runs well I don't know about how it will do on grades.
