Im native american, can you please explain why they do this? Thank you and hopefuly im going to wales to live so i will get a chance to see these good lookin guys march :)
@MrDiamonds01 What you mean is obviously the right escort to the officer running to take up his position. There is another guardsman on the left running to the position to the left of the officer. It's not a mistake, they run in order to overtake the whole detachment. It's a tradition to provide these escorts when the squad goes in the streets and leaves the relative protection. In London, they provide the escort to the Colour, since it's paraded there and that's where the tradition comes from.
He's the Director of Music for the Band of the Welsh Guards. He conducts the band when they are stationary and playing music for the entertainment of the tourists while waiting for the sentries to be relieved.
A big thank you from Australia. I love the job you have done and so readily shared with other band devotees. Keep it coming, the edits are great as are the musos.
I don't think that the cornet players are required to have their instruments parallel to the ground.
They're much more relaxed than compared to say the Canadian Ceremonial Guard.
I was told by a member of the CG band that musicians in the Canadian CG are soldiers first, musicians second while in the UK, they're musicians first, soldiers second.
That's to say that music is their priority in the UK.
I didn't know that the army will salute a Chief Constable. Watch the guard on the right of the screen as he is finishing a salute--just as the C.C. exits the Post.
Well spotted.. yes the CC holds the Queens Commission and is entitled to salute. It was not a clumsy or unfortunate situation, the guard made the right call. You don't salute a Military band but you are required to stand to attention when they pass..... Good times.
It is most impressive to see this great band march through the tunnel (which magnifies the sound) playing the introduction to Bravura. A perfect beginning. Many thanks for bringing me to the parade route through your videos.
This was right in the middle of the Easter Court. I take it the guard change was in the lower ward because of the weather? Surprised the band went out with water on the floor bless 'em lol!!
To might great surprise the first march is an American march Bravura by Charles Duble! Wow, why do they sound so superb when played across the seas! Thanks for posting. Bob M Houston Texas
The drum isn't actually strapped to the leg. What you can see is called a drum apron and is there just to stop the trousers and lower parts of the tunic getting ruined as the drum can do some damage
You keep posting and we will keep loving them. By the way, perhaps you might want to subscribe to my march of the day list? Every day [almost] a new march from a far part of the world. Last really far one was Fiji! Bob M

Great job! Thanks for these videos. I love to watch it! Great music!
The Drum Major seems to be the DM Tony Moors, Grenadier Guards. Senior Drum Major of the Household Division at the time? Sorry if I'm mistaken.

Police officers in London salute the Colour, so I don't see why not.

Well down 'windsorsoldiers' for your time & effort, you are doing a grand job. The Welsh Guards have a superb Regimental Band well worth your skills!

No offence, but the Brits play it at a nicer pace/beat. :P

Agreed - no offense taken. I also like the way they utilize the bass to emphasize the march AND the presence of the band. Bob M
