  • @NoaOno so do you play drums? I love complex music and for you to say as someone who most likely is not a drummer that Danny's drumming isn't as complex as the prog drummers out there you're sadly mistaken. I've listened to many prog bands and all of their drummers sound exactly the same. They are robots. Danny Carey puts so much feel into songs that you can tell instantly that he is playing.

  • @slanderous19803 much agreed

  • @worldcitizenforever He is one of the best drummers ever, you will have to admit. However, I will agree that Tool has programmed shows. Tool hasn't been spontaneous for years. They repeat playlists year after year, so yea, he's playing these over and over and over. Especially when they aren't currently putting out a new album. Anyone can go to any playlist sight and see that unfortunately they are all very similar for years... :(

    VOTE!

  • I laugh at Danny Carey as one of the best in history. We're talking skills now?

He plays really nice in the tool songs, like that stuff, but hm takes an average drummer to that. Just accept that he ain't no drum god guys! If you want proof of hundreds of better drummers, dig into some jazz and metal. Prog.

  • @NoaOno Dude, danny carey was a jazz drummer, he has been studying so many different drummer technique, I love metal, and death metal, for example: Meshuggah, Decapitated, Opeth, Katakalysm, my two favorite drummers are Danny Carey and Tomas Haake. It's not all about speed and what you can play, it's about the music you can create. Tool is very complex music.

  • @steinarao "Tool is very complex music." True. But it's hard to put my finger on it, but maybe he and his style is just a bit old? I don't know... The groove is missing in his playing. But I just started thinking of some Aenima songs, I think Jimmy, and started remember the his experimentality, creativity, niceness. Maybe Tool songs shouldn't have groove.

The drummer in my new fav band by the way, Periphery, is THE god of groove. Heh. But it's totally different ways of using musical skills.

  • @NoaOno LOL you think he has no groove? i saw them live, holy crap hes a good drummer, he played this awesome solo during "Schism" and its freaking complicated stuff. but yer if you think he has no skill go listen to Eulogy or Lateralus, he is definately no average drummer, besides when you get on a drum kit. it is the most impossible shit to play! seriously impossible to play for even a good drummer

  • @iWentToNam Yup I like complex music, that's how I know that this drummer isn't by far the best in the world. One famous example is meshuggah, maybe you don't like the music but that's far more tricky for the drummer than Tool. Danny is good, but don't say he is best or god, that's pathetic.

  • @NoaOno and for your information... tomas haake learned from danny carey on how to play drums. yea meshuggah plays with some interesting time signatures...but danny has the skill of playing his drum set with three SEPERATE time signatures at once. if you're really not a drummer, you have no say in who is the best if you dont understand the whole meaning and complexity of drumming. not only does danny carey get lost in his own music, he explores every meaning of percussion...more than just drums

  • @worldcitizenforever Your entitled to your opinion. But your obviously not a drummer, or anybody with an appreciation of music whatsoever. Let me guess, your favourite drummer is Gene Simmons??????

  • @worldcitizenforever troll detected.

  • @worldcitizenforever yes, we understood. Now shut up.

  • @worldcitizenforever i got to desagree dude danny carey is totally better than any drummer just because he never get trapped in one rhythm , he goes out of the lines of reason with the times

  • @worldcitizenforever cuz you can totally judge all of dannys soul, groove, and style from a solo he played during the middle of a song right? perhaps the solo fits the song better than a style of your preference? danny isnt limited to the contents of this solo

  • hes the neo of drums!

  • although i completely love danney carey, i couldnt stop watching the trippy shit going on behind him

  • there's nothing wrong with the sync of the audio/ video. hes just that goddamn fast!

  • @09mcmahon I've the original video and Youtube clearly fucked up the sync

  • actually dna tests proved he was a robot about 5 years ago. it's in popular science magazine

  • @worldcitizenforever im guessing you can judge him cuz your better?

  • Excuse my rant, but, Danny Carey is a classicaly trained percussionist. He is a true innovator, yes, but he is not re-inventing the wheel. He is building on what has been handed on to him by generations of percussionists. He approaches his instrument with great reverence, leaving asside all carelessness. He is not beyond human, nor is he more evolved than anyone else. He is simply dedicated, disciplined, and gifted.

  • What Drumkit did Danny use here and on the 10,000 Days tour? The Wood Sonor one or the Paiste Bronze one?

  • this band makes me want to devour sheet after sheet of acid

  • why is it that in any mainstream big events where they need a drummer they always have travis barker when danny carey is so much better

  • The cool thing about Danny isn't if he's the "best" or not. It's his genious way of hearing music, and laying down beats. GREAT!!:)

  • 46 & 2 refers to Melchizedekian Theory where the body would reorganize DNA into 46 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes as a way of Evolving. If you are saying Danny is the next evolution of drumming, well i guess i would have to agree.

  • yeah, p[eople are currently 44 and 2. 46 is the next level of evolution

  • i would agree that he is the next step in drumming evolution lol but its actually Jungian theory if im not mistaken that states the next chromosome step is 46 & 2

  • i never thought of that...but when you listen it makes sense...46 & 2 ahead of me...

  • his drumming makes me moist in my rude places

  • if your a female i want you

  • @GoddamGoobacks Hahahahahhaah I loved that.

  • i like that STAT jersey he's got on.. sick.. this show must have been in phoenix

  • he is 46 and 2 lmfao!

  • he's actually 48 now.

  • one might say thats 46...& 2

  • AAAAH i see watcha did there, aaaaah, yus yus, v..ve..very good, Very good

  • its in the middle of the song....

  • it keeps the rhythm constant so he has something to follow. It's the opposite of what drummers do when a guitarist is soloing (fyi)

  • its called a vamp

  • That was played by 46 years old man. Amazing

  • holy shit he's 46!!!?? he has the physique of a dude in his 30's!

  • damn his hands are one in the same. my right hand is stronger, but it looks like his hands are equal.

  • Lmfao I swear, there is no humanity in a video like this. His precision, his power, his speed and the technicality within his drumming technique..he's a fucking robot. That is THE only explanation.

  • @d1mw1t666

robots can't FEEL like he does

  • was this in vegas

  • he is unique

  • my god...umm yea,,,that's about it

  • Comment removed

  • This guy is AMAZING!

  • fuck their so good live its amazinh

  • HOLY FUCK @ 2:07!!

  • Wonderful grammar asshole

    Danny's fucking amazing

  • THIS MAN IS A ROBOT! look at how quick he can rotate when hitting his toms. its like if he looks at a peice of his kit, his hands teleport there without missing a beat.

  • Right near 2.06 it looks as if he has one left hand hidden at the back which kicks into action.

  • Goddamn his style is so unique and badass.

  • yea i think when tool calls it quits for good probly after there next album it would be cool if they had a dvd with a shit load of cool shit on it

  • A live dvd, at the very least. I agree, one more album then quits.

  • The show I was at he did a solo but not this one this would of been sick

  • maynards just standing there =P

  • As i would be!

  • they should make a fucking live DVD.

  • They wont make a live DVD. They dont even like people making video of there concerts. It takes away from the live experience. Like Maynard says its like looking at a post card of the grand canyon its always nicer to be there.

  • Yeah you're right. Also i can't imagine how a Tool live can be filmed. Look at 2001/2002 concerts, and try to imagine a DVD of this. It's kind of hard because of the absence of light , and on Maynard especially. But I think they will release a DVD later

  • Tool won't be releasing any DVD's. You should know that if you know anything about the band or Maynard.

  • They actually did put out a dvd, it's called salival. You should know that if you know anything about the band or Maynard.

  • I meant live performances. They wouldnt capture their live performance on a DVD because you can't get the same feeling sitting on a sofa. Like Maynard has said you have to experience them live yourself. Audio of a live gig is a different thing. All the videos on Salival are music videos off their singles as far as I know.

  • owned lol

  • lol stfu

  • then they should make a dvd of the grand canyon and a dvd of tool and then you will see why they need to make a dvd of tool

  • this is good.

  • cant wait to see these guys play here in chicago this summer

  • i love danny carey, he is definatly one if not the best drummer in history....but i hate him for making it look sooooo easy, lol

  • i could be wrong, but this looks like the show they played at the staples center. that was a good fucking show.

  • TOO...MUCH...AMAZINGNESS...(bleh) died happy ;)

  • I will buy a freaking plane ticket to lolla if they dont come to SF this summer!

  • the man is quite an articulate machine

    remenisant of John Bonham

  • 1:41-end=Machine...Freakin brutal. favorite drummer of all time...Check out his signature stics from vic firth They are the most ingenious design i've ever seen

  • wooooooooow fuck

  • my mind cant handle this awesomeness

  • from about 1:17 until the end it just gets SO sick. mind blowing to say the least.

  • Danny is killing!

  • Danny...

    The master.

  • world class ........

  • holy shit.

  • If Danny Carey opened up a Church of Drumming I would drop everything and join it.

  • agreed. i think there needs to be a drum college. where a bunch of drummers go and just drum together, and learn from the masters. or a music school where ppl just work together, bass guitar and drums and you find ppl of similar taste and play and find what fits. rather than the whole "school" process of sitting in a class. let the ppl play all day i say, that would be a sick school.

  • Danny Carey is arguably the best drummer today, but whoever would argue that deserves to be struck down by Maynard's lighting rod.

  • This proves that Danny Carey is actually a robot.

  • danny carey is the shit

  • Still remains the best player alive,

So much feeling, fantastic original style of playing, unique and he doesnt feel himself to good towards others

i think this is a very good person to look up to and learn from.

  • i agree....

i also met him in my dream last night... nice guy.

    ;)

  • I agree as well. Western culture doesn't recognize the Guru/Disciple relationship as much as in the east. Also, the West has an entirely different ball game in its hands. Carey is most definitely a guru worthy of any genuine student/disciple's desire to learn. TOOL is four brilliant philosophers/scientists/prophets/magicians veiled and protected behind one of the world's greatest bands.

  • Finally, some one who understands and knows what they're talking about.

  • If anything magic science and knowledge all pale in comparison to music and its power of people...i mean would you rather know the times tables or a card trick then have a new (favourite band) album?

  • IAMSOUP, what you don't get is those things are what make the music different, better, and a better understanding of whats around you allows you to better understand the music within you

  • fuckin a. his hands are magic. its just incredible.

  • There are only two cocks in this world I would willingly suck.

    And Danny owns both.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • @zearottm that's gay. but, i get it.

  • @zearottm Fucking faggot lol

  • praise allah, those floor toms sound good!

  • lol

  • i was happy they came to Sunrise...ah, I got to go to both the Orlando and Sunrise concerts, they were absolutely sweet. its insane how the audio quality although alright, still can't compete with the real thing.

  • His hands look like a butterfly's wings when he does the 1-1's on the toms.

Damn, it made me feel.. I don't know. Yes, desperate, like I was looking at something not real.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

  • this is the most terrifying thing ive ever seen.... scary good

  • i was in the 1st row........i was scared.

  • scared? why? :D

  • Because it was so good ! :D

  • wow.

  • In the middle of the song. :)

  • was that before or after he was busy playing the bass rhythm through this whole thing?

  • I sat on the 12th row of the Birmingham Alabama show earlier this year and when they played this Justin sparked up a bowl. I saw it clear as day...

  • i was there. 6th row. most amazing show ever!!
