I love hearing the reactions of people who listen to her for the first time. I definitely shared their reaction, completely blown away and awestruck. love her style, her songs, and her as a person. one of my favorite musicians. :]
Oh, and anyone who even claims that she has 'no feeling' in her music should go off themselves from the music world because you have NO idea what you're talking about. Go listen to "Until We Felt Red..." and then "Dreaming Of Revenge" both in whole and then get back to me/
lololol at people saying Kaki rips of Michael hedges. She's way more melodic and has so much more dynamic a style. Kaki doesn't to the tap/slap thing all the time, and anyone who thinks that obviously hasn't listened to any album of hers as a whole. She does a lot of finger picking, and jazzier stuff.
You have to listen the pionner Michael Headges then listen PRESTON REED !!! please. kaki King and the other artists are coping them but without feeling. they will need a few years more yet.
@rachulguitar I sort of agree but I find Kaki definatly brings her own style into it like you can tell its her ya know ? I admit she is no where near Hedges level but given time I think she will get there
right on, listening to king actually gives me a headache it's so redundant...no feeling. I'm not sure i've seen anywhere king giving respect to Hedges...

Oy. Clearly not Ritual Dance. It's an original. Definitely a Michael Hedges disciple though, although every excellent acoustic guitar player must truly know Hedges to be among the best; its a prerequisite like Bach for composers.
@CastABlueStone A Preston Reed disciple more correctly. This is his style. Which is different than Hedges although Hedges did more for compositions on Acoustic Guitar!
You might already know this but this is not Ritual Dance, and also Michael Hedges, the pioneer of this style of playing wrote and performed Ritual Dance originally. check him out if you haven't heard of him. : )
Well said....This woman's playing while very good and indeed totally influenced by Hedges is flashy but not all that musical, Hedges was THE total package.
I agree with Philmacrakken about Hedges. Also this song sounds an awful lot like Preston Reed's "Blasting Cap". I guess we all "borrow" licks here and there...
@wanderingendorphin I think it's more in homage (as John Frusciante did with Maggot Brain), yet this is a bit more coherent in my opinion. both great tunes, but I prefer this one.
i love hearing peoples reactions to her play when they see her for the first time. lol. kinda like me, before i got so used to her style.lol. but im still always amazed tho.
Too bad the video doesn't continue. I was at this festival and my mind was blown when the band kicked in.

Dear Kaki King,
You are amazing. Your skills make sweet love to my ear vagina.
sincerely, Guy who hates that you are unavailable to his gender.

Well, she DOES do good improv.
But this is, for sure, Bone Chaos in the Castle.
I've listened to the album a lot.
