This is amazing! I'm currently doing a dissertation based on what campaigns would make young people stop binge drinking, and compared to some of the recent campaigns I really believe this video has the power to make a lot of people think twice about drinking so much socially. Well done :)
@brinjefferies Oh thank you! :) I did have another one with me actually speaking but it caused a lot of trouble at school so I took it down. I would liked to have more true stories but at the time I couldn't find many. Thanks a lot! :)
Bravo. Awesome video, man. I appreciate you for being brave enough to take a stand and post this video. Our younger generation needs to hear this type of stuff. I am a recovering alcoholic and started at an extremely young age. I have experienced the effects of under age and binge drinking first hand. It has permeated and ruined every avenue and aspect of my life..physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, financially, legally, etc. etc. But hey, we only live once, right?
God damn, talk about a buzz killer lol. I've been drinking 1-2 times a week for 14-15 years. My brain is still working to some degree, so I don't plan on stopping ;)
@kingb013 Yeah, well i'm not talking about 1-2 drinks a week. I'm talking about going out drinking all night and eventually ending up at some bar at 6 am in the morning. Usually it's just once a week though, and I don't touch alcohol any other day of the week. I am extremely poorly organised though, and a friend of mine suggested that it could have something to do with me starting to drink heavily at too young an age. Ohh well. We only live once
@kingb013 Because I want to have fun. I'll happily give up 10 years of my life so I can have fun and enjoy the other years more. Besides who knows what technology will do. I'm getting close to 30, and every grandparents I've had has made it over 90. So i expect at least some technological advances in life extension in that time. I would like a long life, but death doesn't scare me either. If i die, I die, but at least I've enjoyed my life and had a lot of fun living it.
I run a support group for people with substance abuse issues called Lifering in Northern Ireland. Brilliant video, thanks for taking the time to make it...... Snow Patrol come from my neck of the woods as well :-)
I am 51 yrs old.drank for 33 years.the last 15 I was a raging alcoholic.Sober 3 years and I still have my monthly withdrawal syndromes.AND I have a hole in my brain from it.I still wonder how my body accepted 100 proof straight out of the bottle every day at least a pint more like half a litre towards the end.And today? I am STILL simple.Sigh,Please stay safe and well my friends.the phone really doesn't weigh 2000lbs.Although it did at first...H.
It's called natural selection, you'll eventually perish if you're stupid enough to engage in hazardous activities constantly, and maybe your genes aren't worth that much.
I'm 16 and have been drinking since i was 8 years old. i started drinking heavily at age 10-11, I dont think my brain's looking like that downes syndrom brain you showed. I used to drink 15+ beers every friday and saturday night. Not so much anymore but i still drink almost every weekend. I did almost die 2 times from alcohol poisoning though... Not a joke, just dont try to show off and stick to beer or mixed drinks (no straight liquor) and try to steer clear of bombay saphire if you can and 151
As a young(ish) person (I'm 23), I'm really happy to see someone else my age making an informed decision that will impact their life for the better. You can tell this video wasn't made by a judgmental parent, counselor, or an out of touch preachy doctor. This was made by someone who has been negatively affected by an unhealthy and desperate culture, and I find it to be very socially responsible. Thank you, for posting this. I hope a lot of people will watch this and take something away from it.
@sometimesisetfires I'm actually only 17, I was about 15 when I made this but yeah you're right. I have seen stuff I wish I hadn't and dealt with issues that are now in the past. I just wish other people my age and younger wouldn't abuse alchohol. :(
It strikes me that whoever put this up has personal knowledge of the problems associated with alcoholism-maybe themselves-or lost someone close to them through this disease. All I can say is thanks for uploading it, you're gonna reach some kids out there who may think twice. You're doing a seriously good thing by taking the time to do this ! If someone in your life still suffers from this problem-have patience, give them the support & love they need, they CAN change ! Again WELL DONE !!
@MTHKITEBOARDS You CAN still make a new start-because did you realise if someone took your virginity whilst you were under the influence of alcohol-that is classed as RAPE!-you can start again with a clear conscience ! You are the better person! He is a user and a bad person. You are able to put this behind you-it may be hard-but well worthwhile-you are a different category of person alltogether. Seek some counselling to help you on your way from your doctor or student counselling-Bless you
@debbie32452 MTHKITEBOARDS looks like a guy you fucking asswipe. Not every person that says that is a fucking girl. I hate people like you that think that girls are always the victims. THEY ARE NOT fucker! Girls can easily convince a guy to fuck WAY easier than a guy can convince a girl. If both people are intoxicated its not rape dumbass. I hope you die.
@MTHKITEBOARDS What a bastard who did this to you. I'm sorry to be a bit direct here but you MUST go and get checked for STD's & a pregnancy test. I don't know how old you are, but any check, at a clinic or Doctors is totally confidential. I completely agree with debbie32452, he was scum, I'm ex-forces & have never taken advantage of a woman like that, in fact if we'd caught anyone getting a woman drunk or stoned to get sex he'd have been castrated with a rusty razor blade. All men ain't bad !
I truely understand how a person can get so carried out with something , like alcohol although iam not even a drinker , but if i compare it to being addicted to games or even facebook , for example , things that make you happy : )
and then you regret wasting time on , !
i comletely relate to this , when you ddrink you actually , say one shot would be ok , but then another one comes , and then you realise that you are screwed ! its how it is , everyone gets trapped in those kinda situations !
@thesebunslookgood Im not saying that at all, this video is about UNDER AGE drinking. Its also about people who abuse alcohol, its not about if you drink over the weekend. Obviously you didn't watch it properly.
I'm from New Zealand and we have a bit of a binge drinking culture over here.... I thought your video was good. Not many people know that during puberty alcohol will get into the blood stream twice as fast, stay in twice as long and therefore can have devastating consequences on the not only the cells in the brain but the bodies organs as well. For those that don't know... puberty lasts about 7 years... so if someone begins it at 14 they won't be out the other side till around 21 years old....
@kingb013 - not a problem.... I only learnt it last year as part of my training to become a health educator. I go around schools and talk to kids about substances (amongst other things). The body is amazing, but it certainly has limits.
@shlomibeast your how old? and you drink. self diagnose yourself, see if your alcoholic, and go to alateen, and AA. or you wont live to see 20, trust me.
@stparker77iskool YOU WERE 11 WHEN YOU STARTED!? im sorry, but what were you thinking? Nothing, is bad enough to make you do that! ELEVEN! YOU WERE ONLY 11! i dont mean to sound like a parent or too judgmental , but seriously, you shouldnt even be drinking at 15!
what is for you abu of alcohol , i drink 1 at party every month not more than 5 beer , im 14 so ? i know the probleme is not in present but i can't continue like that 20 years time .. but at the moment do have serious damage?
@mere0006 The earlier you drink the more serious the damage can get. yeah its not serious now but theres a reason for the law. The law is place to stop you causing damage to your body, especially at fourteen you havent even fully developed yet and your pouring poision into your blood so to speak. I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying that you should know what it can do.
@kingb013 ok and what is the age when i will are fully developed? and what happen when my developping brain not really good because i too smoked and drinked up when was teenage ? it is about my intelligence will are reduced? and so drink at party every month it is reasonable? but no consomation there is not extraordinary fun and make new friend easily than ajunt .. so :(
@mere0006 18-21 you are fully developed, hence why the law is 18 and 21. The yonuger you start the more brain cells are killed. Brain cells do NOT grow back, once they are gone there gone. Just becuase your drinking "once a month" doesnt make it resonable, but its better than everyday.
But drinking impairs your brain functioning, especially adolescent-developing brain
Mere you are asking what are the problems... From what I know you can have problems with memory, learning, controlling your behaviour, your mood, and yes it makes you less intelligent.
Very Informative video thanks !.I totally agree with the idea of not over drinking and just enjoying only 10 to 12 beers a night in moderation with very minimal double shots of spirits in your coke as they sit on the table side by side is the way to go.Keep up the good work youve taught me alot thank you:)
I still think people who think being drunk is peasurable miss a lot of things in their life...
Perhaps, if you want to be uninhibited, you should try to resolve the problems which cause you to be inhibited. Face your fears and overcome them...If you think alcohol is a high, it means you are too low. YOU have it in your hands to be low or high. Be yourself, accept who you are. Alcohol should only be consumed in small quantities, not on a regular basis and in excess..
you must take into consideration that everyone who consumes alcohol is aware it is not healthy. many things are unhealthy, or dangerous if over done. its all on a matter of opinion on what is important in life. personally I don't think alcohol is the best thing for people, but I love drinking and do it anyways because its something I really enjoy.
@tessiepooh123 I can understand people who consume it, but not abuse it. I had a previous video which I removed which explained my true point, but still thanks for commenting :)
