Sadat was involved in the Yom Kippur War since the beginning. When he became president he continued the war and ultimately the war reached an end. Sadat was credited with ending the war when if fact he had no other choice because the Israeli army had broken the cease fire and continued on surrounding Egypt's last standing army in the war.

Sadat ended the war, signed a peace treaty, got all of his country's land back from Israel AND got the United States to pay Egypt aid.
