  • Competition drives us to ingenuity. Allowing the states to run themselves will increase competition and will have states that will appeal to some more than others eventually societies will settle down and thrive

  • SO TRUE! most socialists are fascists, especially when it comes to taxes & their marxist shit education that creates illiteracy & poverty.

  • @LibertarianUK Excellent comment, indeed the socialists of the British Labour Party are fascists. They've signed us up to the various treaties of the hopelessly corrupt and criminal led European Union project - that's another unecessary tier of government that the beleaguered UK taxpayer now has to pay for. Have the likes of Tony Blair, Gordan Brown and David Cameron ever had to do a proper day's work for a shit wage? Give them real socialism - give 'em 10 years hard labour in a Siberian gulag.

  • @LibertarianUK

    moron

  • @LibertarianUK except left anarchists. they are not fascists; they're libertarians AND socialists.

  • anarcho-syndicalism is a statist mistake

    but left anarchism is good

  • Ron Paul was incorrect on one level. He is only describing state socialism. Anarchistic socialist communities would be all right with capitalist neighbors if they did not infringe upon anyone else.

  • @NewVinland Correct, however one could argue from the environmental perspective, which is what some stateless socialists are doing.

  • @MrYugeulb

The problem with Libertarianism is that whatever the nice sounding stories we hear about it, it empowers the strong and disempowers the weak. The forces that had to be put under control early in this country's life in order to have a country at all have been trying to find a way to remove the government, it is the same fiction that the Republicans tell us that all problems come from the government ... and yet, we have a bunch more serious problems without government,

  • Way to back pedal right after finally making a good point.

  • reality is the opposite of what this guy is saying, the fact is that the US is trying to destroy, kill and steal from socialist societies all over the planet. When a country looks like it is going socialist, we go in and over turn the goverment - even if they voted for it. We were in the cold war for 40 years because we could not stand russia or china being socialist - not that either country was socialist, they were tyrannical just like we are ... and war is the only way to control men.

  • There are still many communal living groups in the U.S. the amish, anabaptists, mennonites serve as examples, alongside many secular-communist communes of times past. The welfare nanny state, however, is nothing but fascism.

Of course the communists and socialists are not content with this as they feel it is their duty to enforce an "international revolution" and the social consequences of it upon all people, even those who reject it, and if you wish to keep your property they will steal it.

  • Once again the good Dr. is right. This is also one of the things which the socialists do not seem to understand, libertarianism (classical liberalism) is all about voluntaryism. In a true libertarian (classical liberal) state communists are free to have their communes and share everything in common, in fact that is the way the U.S was for many years, many different social experiements allowed, but you cannot force or coerce that lifestyle on people.

  • @questionmarkjones No not exactly, I'm just saying that there are fundemental differences in democratic socialism and communism and that they arent the same. What you refer to as socialim is more like communism, a system where a nations natural wealth is owned and runned by the goverment but still allows and works alongside private industry is more like democratic socialism, the ammount of authority and areas in which goverment might have a say varies in socialism, in communism it doesnt...

  • Libertarianism is a political philosophy not an economic one, so compairing socialism and libertarianism is an apple and oranges comparison. There is no such thing as a libertarian economic philosophy. At best you could try and claim a "free market"/capitalist economy as a model libertarians expouse, but libertarianism itself is not an economic philosophy. For example, you are libertarian capitalist or a libertarian socialist, Utilitarian is the "socialist" term for politics, dumbasses.

  • @Bezz80

You are correct in that libertarianism does not hold to a core set of economic principles, however it is an anti-authoritarian philosophy. With that said being an advocate for the abolishment of employment is a libertarian one. You can move money around anyway you want but if there is no negotiation between employer and employee you have an authoritarian model of business. If you had a truly free society nobody would accept such terms to do business.

  • socialism doesnt mean common property, it means nationalised means of production, there's a huge dfference! Dont make the mistake to confuse personal property and money in a socialist with that of a communist society. communism and socialism are two different things!

  • I don't see how that logic in the first half of the clip would apply.

Certain group of people can theoretically gather voluntarily to form a socialist community, but it may not work out as they planned. What they might do then, instead of disbanding, is to try to assimilate other people by all means, even forcefully. Isn't this what many of the wars during 19th century was all about? What is there to stop these groups from doing such things in a "truly" free socety?

  • voluntary societies mean you can live and leave anytime you want, so i don't see why they have to use coercion. and if their socialist system fails, doesn't it mean that they will come to a realization that a non socialist system works better? being a libertarian means you also respect another persons liberty, and if your liberty, life, or property is threatened, only then is it legit to initiate force in defense.

  • Their conclusion may be "our socialist system failed because certain people are not part of the system and are hogging all the resources," which could then lead them to use coercion to force outsiders into their system so that they can get a bigger piece of the pie. I'm seeing lots of hate roaming around the internet these days against rich people for that exact reason. True libertarian party seems to only work when respect is achieved both ways, and that seems near-impossible.

  • this is why i think education is key. for years, governments, especially ours, have been giving a bad name towards a free market. they label what they think is a free market when its actually closer to a planned economy with big corporate interests.

  • @oldman946 The equal ability to band together and stop the criminals from carrying out their aggression. Sure, you lose sometimes, but the criminals lose all the other times because invasion with an army and maintaining an enslaved population is extremely expensive and a problem of resources and willpower of the individual criminal members in the end.

  • to bad most americans are to retarded, keep voting for same people over and over agian.

  • Maybe the problem is that they are voting to begin with. :) Btw, I think you meant "too".

  • Obama campaigned on HOPE and CHANGE, but he is governing as chicken little. Have you noticed everything is a crisis? Have you ever noticed that when he announces a crisis, he and his libs legislate a catastrophe in response? So he is not your usual chicken little that is running around screeching that the sky is falling. He is actively working to make sure that it falls.

  • It has worked up until now... but not very well, and once they push us too far... we won't push back... we'll shoot back... and they'll flee in terror when they realize that they've stepped over that line we drew in the sand... this will not end well for the socialists who think that our property, our earnings and our Liberty is theirs to take as long as they can get 50.000001% of the vote. I have one message for all you socialists... please don't force us to kill you!

  • Great Comment Mafia guy.

  • The point he made is exactly why states rights are so important. If we had more states rights, Californians or whoever could have a more socialist state with gun control, while people in Texas or New Hampshire could have a more free-market economy with very limited gun laws. This could create competition between states which would force them to adapt laws that work best.

  • But the more important effect is to enable capital to play state against state in order to drive down wages and worsen working conditions across the board in every state. This approach is why we see taxes shifted from business and industry (through tax abatements) to homeowners (who have to make up the shortfall to pay for local gov. funcions.)

So yeah I think letting states decide gun control, gay marriage and non-economic issues is largely good. But for regulating business its awful.

  • @fjfjvmvm In a libertarian society, businesses don't need to be regulated since it's very easy to leave. If Big Capital decides that you are harmful to their wealth, there is absolutely nothing requiring you to chase them for a job. If they want you to work at some hilariously low non-market wage, or under conditions you find to be offensive or repressive, you have a right and a responsibility as a market participant to not enter into such a relationship. Vote with your dollars and your feet.

  • @thatmafiaguy- That sounds good and all, but you know when the liberalasspuppets fuck up there state, they''ll be banging at your door begging for you to bail them out!

  • Until they find the one with no state works the best.

  • John Dennis money bomb Sept. 30th! Help defeat Nancy Pelosi in CA 8!

  • I was there - Ron Paul gave an excellent speech. This was the first time I saw him up close - Great Job Ron Paul! Thanks for making the trip to Minnesota yesterday!

  • @JohnGaltSpeaking1981

Great speech , if you admire liars. The idea that he is so accepting of letting people do what they want, and then blames socialists for trying tell everone else what to do is absurd. The US is even now attacking the whole rest of the devloped world for their socialized medical programs that work better than our system. HA!

  • I'm gonna have to tell the kgb about this one
