  • @jas22 go home and read

  • @bedsidetable2 well, i cant read well. thats why i ended up listening to neutral milk hotel. everything else in the world requiring literacy and knowledge is above my capabilities. domo.

  • i'll take a huge shit on that fucking ad in the beginning

  • this song's a motherfuckin' banger.

  • I LOVE THIS ALBUM! ....

But Is it normal that I don't have a clue what there songs are about?

  • @BlackStarKeepShining other than the Anne Frank theme on a few songs, i dont think anybody does. i like it that way though, lets your imagination run wild.

  • @thychaos Dude... I don't even know which songs are about Ann Frank. Lol.

  • @BlackStarKeepShining this one, for instance.

  • The world just screams and falls apart

  • trippy bro(:

  • this is the world's most impassioned and heart-wrenching song ever.

  • aww yeah i can see why this goes well with will grayson, will grayson

  • GTFO tumblr faggots.

  • @SrslyLeeroy Well, I'm guessing that the people who got here from tumblr are fans of John Green, who is a youtuber...so we're just returning! ;)

  • "...and its so sad to see, the world agree, that they'd rather see their faces filled with flies"

  • Amazing

  • i got to talk to two of the members of NMH at a Deifnace, Ohio concert. They are now in a band called Nana Grizol. They gave my boyfriend a band aid :)

  • "Neutral Milk Hotel sort of changed my life. They released this absolutely fantastic album called In The Aeroplane Over The Sea in 1998 and havent been heard from since, purportdly because their lead singer lives in a cave in New Zealand. But anyway, he's a genius."

    ~Will Grayson, Will Grayson

  • John Green listens to Neutral Milk Hotel? I know he mentioned Mountain Goats in Paper Towns, I should have expected it....

  • @1Lozzix1 He mentions NMH in Will Grayson, Will Grayson.

  • Black label!

  • Via John Green's tumblr ;)

  • Haha fuck the quality. This is how recorded music should sound making the live that much better!

  • what is annoying: hipsters who get annoyed because their bands arent "underground" anymore. be glad theyre getting the fame they deserve and get over yourself.

  • this isnt hipster shit. the lyrics are actually very meaningful and sad. i am as far as you can get from being "hipster". i love main stream music like nobody's business. but the music this band made is so emotional and amazing.

  • @zoezoexoe You are exactly what I needed to prove my point. Thank you.

  • >Implying I'm a fucking homo chantard.

  • @smijjjjj >implying anyone cares

  • Fucking pretentious hipster bullshit

  • @sync380 LOLUMAD? Just because your not as hip as me doesn't mean you have to make yourself appear cooler than everyone else by calling me out on something that I'm not. Just enjoy the music video, you fucking conformist.

  • @smijjjjj fuck off and go back to /mu/

  • @sync380 Shut the fuck up and listen to music you like dont just label it, you cunt

  • Sigh. I knew NMH when they were still underground. Sad day.

  • @smijjjjj I'm greedy with my music and I assure you they are still underground.

  • @patroutmaster

Well, according to the great Carles of Hipster Runoff, they actually are not. Which is too bad.

  • the music is happy yet the lyrics are sad

  • was this in a movie? it sounds like it was

  • I don't think I completely understand the song, but it resonates a lot. "And it's so sad to see the world agree That they'd rather see their faces fill with flies When all I'd want to keep white roses in their eyes" Its a frightening song but so beautiful.

  • I don't think I completely understand, but it seems to resonate. "And it's so sad to see the world agree. That they'd rather see their faces fill with flies. All when I'd want to keep white roses in their eyes".

Its seems to be so much about losing things you love and war, but it sounds so perfect.

  • @previouslyadjetive you completely understand.

  • Best uploaded version on youtube... thanks a bunch man :)

  • The only girl I've ever loved was born with roses in her eyes. But then they buried her alive. One evening 1945.

  • its too bad that neutral milk hotel aren't as well known, I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy this music if they knew it.

  • This song terrifies me. It's so scarily human.

  • my roommate gave me this album last year and it, forgive my language, blew me the fuck away.

  • @nickademous I like your roommate :)

  • Anybody else here about them in Will Grayson, Will Grayson?

  • @MrNzFerret

I remember reading it and being like "HOLY SHIT JOHN GREEN IS A NMH FAN!" Got him some extra cool points.

  • yeaah I've found it! great song =) do you know some bands like this??

  • The Decemberists sound a bit like these guys.

  • @indi626 thanks =) the're good

  • Check out my channel for music videos from other indie bands you may like. There's some other music, political stuff, science stuff, ect. on my favorites list. Cheers!

  • @identityisrelative thanks I really like your favourites, I haven't seen them all yet but hey for example those Cows cows cows are brutal :D. I like your music choice, it reminds me times that are gone but remain in memories... check out my favourites (or some channel I don't know the Youtube so much), I've got nice music too =)

    Cheers bro!!

  • @loveSc7 There are really no bands like NMH, but if you like them you might like the Mountain Goats or Of Montreal.

  • Best sound quality of the ones I've heard so far.

  • @eetretsim

Who the fuck cares about sound quality on an intentionally low fi album

  • @hersheynugget121 In The Aeroplane Over The Sea isn't a lo-fi record

  • @horsedoctorman

    Yes, it is.

    Neutral Milk Hotel

Neutral Milk Hotel. From left to right: Jeff Mangum, Scott Spillane, Julian Koster and Jeremy Barnes.

    Background information

    Origin Ruston, Louisiana, United States

Genres Lo-fi, indie folk, psych folk

    From wikipedia

  • @hersheynugget121 also from wikipedia: Recorded July–September 1997, Pet Sounds Studio, Denver, Colorado. it was recorded in a proper studio, i.e. not lo-fi

  • @hersheynugget121 Praising this band may be cliche. However, this is one of the rare cases where hype is justified. Hands down, this is a great band. It's not even debatable.

    m.K.

  • @hersheynugget121

Implying that wikipedia has reliable information.

  • @eetretsim the sound is supposed to have static, they made the song with that in it

  • the world just screams and falls apart...
