From what I understand, the student was originally placed under arrest for suspicion of tresspass and then his identity was verified and he was a student at the school. He was ultimately charged with assault, and not even assault of a peace officer which would have made more sense... and I fail to see that assault in this video. Resisting arrest would be a hard case to make, especially considering it was on a false premise.

I'm not sure if the cop told him before the video started (but based on his constant questions the cop probably didn't tell him) why he was getting arrested, but I'm pretty sure that cops are also required to tell someone why they're under arrest.
wow so this was all about showing ID to the officer, that mandatory. I feel bad also for their parents because when officers ask you to do something you do it, except for things in the Charter of Rights and Freedom. Each person has their rights as to why they are being detained and arrested. I'm not too clear on why you all think the cop is so horrible in this clip. When a cop asks for your hands behind your back, oblige him. Once the cop has it in his mind to arrest you, NOTHING you say will change his mind. If it turns out as a wrongful arrest you may have a lucrative case on your hands. If the kid had just "played the game" he probably would have been let go 15 minutes later if he really had done nothing wrong. There is a difference between Bravery and Stupidity.

It does help that the guy was arrested for suspicion of tresspass when he was not trespassing and his lanyard is clearly visible in this video.

From what I understand, the student was originally placed under arrest for suspicion of tresspass and then his identity was verified and he was a student at the school. He was ultimately charged with assault, and not even assault of a peace officer which would have made more sense... and I fail to see that assault in this video. Resisting arrest would be a hard case to make, especially considering it was on a false premise.
I could be wrong on any of that, but I've followed it from the start.

I'm not sure if the cop told him before the video started (but based on his constant questions the cop probably didn't tell him) why he was getting arrested, but I'm pretty sure that cops are also required to tell someone why they're under arrest.

wow so this was all about showing ID to the officer, that mandatory. I feel bad also for their parents because when officers ask you to do something you do it, except for things in the Charter of Rights and Freedom. Each person has their rights as to why they are being detained and arrested. I personally have officers in my school and i find it very different than usual, actually i feel much safer with the officer in the school.

The way the kid is waving his arm around the officer could have interpreted that as an attack and gave the kid a Brachial Stun stun to KO him. The officer showed a LOT of patience, more than he has to according to his training at the Ontario Police College.

I feel sorry for the parents of the kid who refused to comply with the Police. His parents failed to teach him right from wrong when it comes to dealing with offices of the LAW.
You do have to show your ID to the police when they ask, and you should show RESPECT to the officers who have taken an oath to uphold the laws of the land for our citizens. If you give attitude to cops and want to act all tough you will LOSE every time!
That kid and his parents should be ashamed of themselves.

Yeah? And what kind of student has his ID around his neck to constantly show it? Does he have ANOTHER fake ID for ANOTHER school when he makes his school-to-school rounds, selling drugs? You have to show your ID once to get in a school every morning and that's it, why have it on a lanyard?

And is the ID for THIS school? Is it real or a forgery? Drug-dealers know the rules to get in school too, you know. Who is to say they raid the student's room and find 3 keys of cocaine?
