I've used Melling pumps for yrs. I have yet to find fault with them. However, they do not pressurize the oil system before the engine is started. A Pre-Luber does, and then the motor can be started safely. Dry starts are part of the anarchy system to wear out an engine so someone will buy something new. Another scam is to mount the filter upside-down or horizontally. Then the filter drains out overnight, thus exacerbating the dry-start scam. Elmo is really upset with Melling.
Respond to this video... Melling MPL-101 is a useless tool for LS based engines. the post in the back of the engine for oil sending unit is M16 X1.5 thread. There is no adapter for that. The 1/8 & 1/4 MPT adapters are useless! A 250.00 tool I expect better from Melling! Waited a week to arrive and can not sue the tool! And there is not a port anywhere on the engine that is 1/8 or 1/4 npt GM LS7 427
