This is amazing!! Allo allo has been a huge success here in Poland, almost everybody watched it but there isn't any single soul who watched this series here, If it wasn't for my English teacher who told us about it I would never be aware about the existence of The Secret Army although I must confess its a very interesting series.
I am searching for the episode in witch Brussels is liberated. I played in this serie as a 10year old boy. A british jeep is riding througt the streets of Brussel and than i was there.....we were happy to see te british troops and as far as i remeber the man who deliverd the vegtibles to the candide was also siting in this jeep....Can somboddy help me to find this episode ?
I only just and no more remember this series I think it was the final series I saw I remember the German officer with grey hair I think thats all I remember this series has never been repeated on British TV not as far as I remember anyway.
Tina lucas died 08 august 2009 in Hasselt Belgium at the age of 93 years. She was the person the BBC serie was based on. She helped 28 English pilots back over the Canal to there homecountry risking her own life. Here husband Lucien was shot in 1944 for actions against the Germans.
There will be thousands to do the same if the same thing happens tomorrow, Belgium has a deeply rooted anti authoritarian tradition, dating from the ages that the church burned people alive for their beliefs
Clifford Rose starred in a miniseries and sequel to 'The secret army' called 'Kessler' from 1981. It deals with the hunt for Kessler in the 1980s in Latin America.
Never used to watch this one, don't know why maybe there was something else on the other channel (we only had two back then).thanks for posting, top notch show!
Thankyou so much for uploading this video. I have never seen this programme before but I was told about it. I am portraying a character called Herr Zeiger who is very similar to Kessler and this gives me some great ideas to add to my character so thankyou very much.
I love the music in the beginning. I remember my parents were watching "Secret Army" on television when I was just a kid and how I always found the intro (with the zooming images) a bit scary, although I thought that the music had some atmosphere to it already back then. I haven't seen this for so many years so it was really nice to hear that lovely intro again! :)
Thank You BF kate for posting these Episodes...I was about 8 y.o and after recently watching a few episodes on Sky at my Father's, I hope to buy the Complete box-set very soon, Best wishes Adrian.
You do know that the man who player 'Kessler' in Secret Army is the same guy that played 'Kessler' in Kessler? Oh, you're referring to 'Kestler', which doesnt exsist.
You can't get this video (besides here) that will play on Region 1 (US, Canada) TVs. I ordered a copy of the DVDs from Europe and then had to be a "universal" DVD player rigged to play DVDs from all Regions. I lived in the Netherlands on assignment during the early 1980s and used to watch this series on Belgian TV. Absolutely terrific.
l agree this was a superb series, you just do not get stuff on tv these days like this, someone made a comment of the fliers were very boyish , they were , they were only 19 and 20 ,
Hi Spaceboy, I will be posting some more. Bit worried if I overdo it the material will get pulled and I'll be explaining myself before Copyright Sturmbannfuhrer Kesser.
@BFKate Does anyone remember a BBC series called "The Life and TImes of Lloyd George" - with Philip Madoc as LG? It'd be lovely if someone could upload that series.
Those German bastards! Thank god we fort that war against them. Though the European Union is going to rule us in the future. So what's the difference bewteen them and what were the Nazis? Not much I can tell you.
so you compair us with the Nazis:O you are soooo stupid... lern more about the union and after that tell us your opinion. than you know what you're talking about...... f*ker
I don't have to because the European Commission is an unelected body made up mostly by Germans. Who to say that one day there could come out of this body some totalitarian will arise. PS try not swear ii limits vocabulary I here.
There was a great documentary about the beginnings of the European Union in R$ a few months back. In the early days it was staffed by pretty visionary people. Some of them had fought against each other in WWII and it was that which drove them on, i.e. the desire to avoid another war in Europe. Apparently one of the delegates in the early dasy was a fighter pilot who kept the propellor from his old fighter on the wall behind his desk!
I don't have words enough to thank you for posting episodes of S.A.
This show was broadcast here in Brazil at 80's in a channel that closed some years ago. I have recorded that in VHS at that time but I've missed some episodes.
Do you have intention to post the episode "Good Friday"? I think that episode is one of the best of the first S.A. season.
Thank you Kate for uploading this series. They used to show it in the 80's in Srilanka and it was quite popular then. It was after this that we watched the comedy spin off of this called ALLO ALLO. But this is the original and the best.
And now I see you've posted even more episodes! I think I love you, Kate! (Allmost as much as I was in love with Juliet Hammond-Hill when I was twelve years old... ;o))
Cheers Ingar, that made me laugh, but I know what you mean. The Music over the opening credits is like a time machine for me, as soon as it starts I am transported immediately back. I have another couple of eps to put up so watch this space. Kate.
Oh, God bless you, BFKate! I've been longing for this series ever since I saw it as a boy in the early eighties (I'm from Norway and it was aired a bit later than in the UK). And here it is!
i agree completely, Kate! and now that I watch this again for the first time in more than twenty years i realise just how good it was! somtimes trying to re-live adolescent experiences may prove a disappointment (as in re-reading 'the hardy boys..'). but the degree of historical realism and accuracy of this series (not to mention emotional intensity) is just amazing!
