This was the one CoD game I liked, and it was mostly because of parts like this. They really took it seriously and it was effective, and for the most part, realistic, in that most of the heroes die, and it made it so very satisfying at the end to kill Zakhaev. It had a simple and to the point story. It's too bad MW2 turned it into a damn Michael Bay movie.

Virtually the only way to survive a nuclear blast is to go deep underground, and even if somebody survived a nuclear blast that close, like the one in this level, they wouldn't survive because of the radiation levels after the blast. Radiation levels are off the charts after a nuclear blast.

Well you are right about being that close and the radiation, but another problem is the dust. You can always be decontaminated if exposed to radiation. But if dust from a nuclear blast gets in your lungs you have very little/no chances of surviving.
