  • nice to see different covers, nothing comes even close to original Lou Reed David Bowie Mick Ronson muscle.

  • Lou was incredible doing this song, too. All is good, it's one of those classics.

  • Thumbs up if you linked here from the comments section of the Althouse blog!

  • Pay skankinjimbo? No amount of money will bring her back. It certainly was an awful accident and a terrible loss.

  • Someone needs to pay for what happened to her.

  • God rest you Kirsty a great memory to leave behing

  • Easily the best version of the many covers of this tune. Certainly blows the Lou Reed original all to hell, although that isn't difficult to do since Reed couldn't carry a tune in a dump truck. Kirsty always had the ability to take another songwriter's song and make it her own. Evan Dando sounds as good as ever and compliments the song nicely.

  • This is nice, and she's great, but I wouldn't bad-mouth Lou Reed, a great, expressive vocalist as well as songwriter.

  • I must agree, lovely cover, Kirsty shows her soft side. I can actually say I miss her and hope the bastard that was driving the boat gets what is deserved. I hope Kirsty's mum get's justice for her daughters murder and she can rest. Kirsty, RiP, I miss you

  • Great version and their voices go so well together. I like Evan Dando and the Lemonheads but I've never heard him sing like this before - don't take it the wrong way, Evan, but I didn't know you were this good!

  • miss you so much kirsty as pink floyd once said wish you were here.xx

  • Lacks the raw angst and power of the original but it's still a great version.

  • i love her so much she was so pretty rip kirsty xxxx

  • i thin k youre right mate.not many people can pull this off, shame about the bbc one though ..

  • I think this may be the best version.

  • i listen to this song every so often and realize what a perfect song it is, and have a good day , then

  • just noticed bogen's comment below, and no, she was not murdered, it was a boating accident, truly unfortunate, wish she was still with us

  • @fubarcat50 In her fans, friends and families opinion she was murdered because the Bastard who drove the boat into her has never been punished properly and the guy who was charged with driving the boat wasn't the guy who actually was. check out her website for the full picture

  • This truly is a beautiful and moving song, made all the more poignant when you consider that the lovely Kirsty MacColl is no longer with us. She sings so well with Evan on this - their voices compliment each other.

Sadly missed Kirsty, but much and fondly remembered.

  • pelicanmouse were are you? whats youre frequency?

  • @redgil5 hi

  • Kirsty mcColl is GREAT.

  • It was written by Lou Reed.

  • such a lovely lovely song, well written.

  • Scuba Diving accident (died saving her kids) in Cabo
