  • Steve was the last no B.S. toughguy anti-hero of Hollywood. The King of Cool. Ever the symbol of the anti-wimp and anti-panzy, he was a real man's man playing male roles, yet without being absurdly macho. He wooed both Faye Dunaway and Ali MacGraw, an impressive record of hot romance. Mesothelioma stole him from us way too early.

  • What I think is funny is your arrogance. Your quote "The old grace and charm of 50s actors was mostly for show. Many of these stars were unfaithful, promiscuous, rude and vulgar in real life. Today such veneers are gone because they're hypocritical"....they are and were humans, same today as then. Back then they had more integrity. You sound like a liberal who doesnt believe that morals were better in the 40's than they are in present day. I bet you voted for obama.

  • Its the Ole' Codger!

  • The king of cool!

Towering Inferno, Bullitt, Great Escape... guy's a legend!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I'm DEAF!!!!! Cheese and crackers man! Turn down the volume!

  • Steve did have enormous presence.

  • I love the Sand Pebbles, one of the greatest films ever

  • All today's stars have are malfunctioning dresses. That bit has been done to death; I wish actresses would give up on that. if all they have are jiggles and wiggles then they're admitting all they have is what every female has, to a lesser or greater degree. Actually the studio system created stars and controlled their reception; that's impossible today. First, there's no studio system. Second they're overexposed in public and underexposed in films (studios used to show stars in 3 films a year).

  • They immediately knew it was McQueen because his charisma was just too overwhelming even for someone blindfolded.

  • McQueen is the man.

  • "You work your own side of the street, Lieutenant, and I'll work mine."

    McQueen is still The Man.

  • Here is a question for every one; if you are a male leading man, are you circumcised?

  • Why is it that today's actors don't shine as the old ones?

I mean, Mcqueen is such a megastar, no one comes close to him nowadays in charisma and presence.

  • @MsGnorts because they dont know how to act. they can make media scenes, but acting? no sir

  • @MsGnorts now thats true. they lack that suave kind of charisma today. now they are only know for scandals and how much babys they make....and maybe for a shitty movie. god. just looking at these videos (wml with ALL the guests) breaks my heart. how charmingingly intelligent these people talk, how respectful they talk and behave. just saw the wml with louis amstrong...can you imagine this thing with people like 50 cent (not that i put 50 cent in the same musical/humanistic league as satchmo)

  • @MsGnorts Lots of today's actors shine like the old: Harrison Ford, George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith, etc... Comparing the past with the present isn't really right because each generation looks back on their past stars with fondness while hating the new crop by comparison. The old grace and charm of 50s actors was mostly for show. Many of these stars were unfaithful, promiscuous, rude and vulgar in real life. Today such veneers are gone because they're hypocritical.

  • @TheTubePortal Oh geeze....pull your head out of the sand!

  • @leeportcam You disagree with my assessment? I'd be interested in your view, especially since mine is well documented in various books about the entertainment industry of yesteryear and the facade of grace and charm by actors/actresses who were living lewd and lascivious lives behind the scenes. What is there to disagree with? If those are the facts with which you disagree then I would argue that it is you who has the head in the sand, sir.

  • He was doing an impression of actor Walter Brennan which none of them picked up on. Brennan was usually in westerns, including ones with John Wayne.

McQueen was good at doing impressions there are some vids on here of him doing Brando, etc.

  • McQueen was a brilliant actor and loved his voice on this show

  • volume much???!!!

  • I think Arlene is wearing her mask from Truman Capote's famous masked ball.
