SugarPlumbFairy is a Beatles reference. I'm sure you knew though. Yea I would not say this is real rock n' roll, but I don't see why it has to be ironic. There is a popular rap song called "Party like a rock star" and they're not rock stars, but they sing it anyway. I listen to a lot of brit pop like this, but I still consider me and my life style rock and roll. I agree with you though, this is not rock.

I'm normaly not the kind of guy that goes looking for songs just to say they suck, but if you name a song "You Can't Kill Rock'n'Roll", isn't it imperative that you don't contribute to the killing of rock 'n' roll with awful pop rock in the process? Or are they trying to make a point: that even though people are trying to water down rock with songs like this every day it's still standing (in that case they would be right). To each his own I guess, just thought this song was kind of ironic.

this song is written to all people who hate rockmusic, in fact all guitar music and mock sugarplum fairy just because of their love to rock music in the tradition of the Beatles. Stones, Oasis, Strokes etc

So ska is rock music? So modern jazz is rock? Your defenition of rock 'n' roll is flawed if not wrong. Also, comparing these guys to the beatles, the stones and oasis is just rediculous and you know it. Those bands where great becouse of their originality, this band is anything but that. Again, I'm not saying this band is bad (that's a matter of taste) I'm saying it's not rock n roll, and therefore ironic.

They defenitely play in the tradition of Beatles, Stones and Oasis, and they are not purely original, they follow traditions themselves, even if they happen to be much bigger than most other bands, but it´s not just the biggest bands who are allowed to make music is it? In Sweden both Mando diao and Sugarplum fairy are hated by some people because of their rockstyle in music, and that´s why Victor wrote this song adressed to those haters.

Those bands may follow traditions, but they gave their own spin to it, and set the tone for many bands to come. These guys do nothing close to that, they copy something and they (in my opinion) do so badly. Rock 'n' roll should be about spitting dirt, taking names, and kicking ass. These guy's are just "cute" if anything (for evidence look at the rest comment section). Talking obout cute, wat's up with their name?

they con´t copy more than any other band, U 2 even stole their intro to Left right blach white(frfm) on their last album and not all rock music should be about dirt, it can also be about lust and life energy - like Sugarplum fairy and most bands in the sixties

There's nothing wrong with being cute, there's even not mutch wrong with copying. But I'm not arguing about that, I'm arguing about whether they make rock 'n' roll or not, and I say that they don't (quite the opposite actually), and I'm saying that that fact would make this song ironic. But I'm starting to repeat myself, let's just agree to disagree shall we? I enjoyed this discussion tho.
