  • CURTIS,FRED CASH AND SAM GOODEN ON THIS VID!!!! JERRY WAS LONG GONE!!!

  • jerry butler left and went solo by this time.

  • ANYBODY KNOW IF JERRY BUTLER (ICE MAN) WAS IN THIS VIDEO ??

  • guy at 1:16 does the elaine dance

  • IT.

  • RIP Curtis

  • stephen king's IT had that song on, thubs up if that movie bought you here.

  • lol white people

  • this is music...but the dancing is just hilarious.

  • A #1 song for The Impressions in November 1963. It also hit #1 on the Rhythm & Blues charts.

  • The singer in the middle looks like Obama.

  • @Chery869 xDDDDDD I mean so u've got rigt xD

  • This song is good for what ails yah

  • when curtis passed away his funeral lasted 6hours there were so many people who came to see him i mean everybody he was like elvis rockers played tributes to him eric clapton had a tribute album out everbody played something and this song was the topper

  • You have to love the genius of Curtis Mayfield...he went on to do the memorable soundtrack to the 1972 Cult Classic "Superfly."

  • @1955annemarie Yes! I was just getting ready to post about the genius of Curtis Mayfield.

  • i have the impressions chart busters original record is it worth a fortune!?

  • I love watching white people dance to black music

  • @WonderBread006

    LMAO.....STOP!!

  • @1955annemarie ~ It was still a transision thru the "white times" but I can assure you there were those of us, who were white, who loved Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Major Lance, Jackie Wilson and a host of other black singers & groups. I appeared on one of the L.A. television dance shows (9th Street West with Sam Riddle) as I begun my senior year ~ Fall, 1964. Asked the H.S. girl of my dreams to go, Ms.Joan Eide. I played this genre of music all the way to Vietnam in 1969 and home again!

  • I love this sonng oooooooooo it's all right ^___________^ <3

  • Its NOT alright that most of my generation doesnt realize that THIS is real music .

  • @ColaaLove true dat

  • wow that is the earliest footage I've ever seen of Curtis. I really love him.

  • stephen kings "it" brought me here.... woooo!!

  • See that! And, who said white people weren't given (by Providence) any rhythm? l.o.l.

Still, white men can't jump, though. SIGH!

  • It's Alright 2 People :P they probably don't have memories...

This use to be my Grandfather's Song I Miss him so much !

  • 2 people are not all right

  • This was the show call A-go-go or something as the go-go girls in the background ect.. Positive music!

  • wow, glad to see the "white guy dance" hasn't evolved, much, the only one in the room not "listening to the beat" when tapping his feet...sooooo maybe not EVERBODY clap your hands.....>.<

  • @stoneyPOCKET Ha, ha!! I hear you on that one!! but it looks as if this was shot on the set of the hit show, "Hullaballoo," (sorry for the awful spelling!!), which aired circa 1966-1967, still a real "white time," but things were "Movin' On Up"!!

  • sorry I lost my 8 track of these guys, great harmony

  • Good song but if you want to know ( and you don't) this is the good but not I'm So Proud or Gypsy Woman or Sad Sad Girl and Boy or I'm the One who Loves You or Minstrel and Queen. But everybody clap your hands give yourself a chance!

  • 2 people are dead wrong and that aint alright

  • It, Pennywise the Clown send me here.

  • @koentaya same here!!!

  • this is real soul

  • make life ur goal!

  • Whitefolks sure can dance.

  • An interesting audience. The lanky guy on the right with the slick hair looks like he could pick up just about any girl, LOL. And that blond boy looks like maybe 14 years old at most.

I therefore conclude this probably wasn't a nightclub, rather a high school dance.

  • @Tigerboy83 I'm Pretty sure this was off the tv show Hollywood a go go which started in 65

  • @Tigerboy83 I am pretty sure you are missing the point

  • @awstokes : Relax dude, it's just a Youtube video. It's not meant to be taken that seriously !

  • thats just the way those old music shows were, had to have go go girls lol, great music, you can tell how Jimi got so good when he was playing this R and B night after night

  • sing it out loud!

  • i dont see the point of 2 girls dancing ==;

  • @AmITooAzn4U cause it was the 60's man every show has girls dancing

  • @GoldenSlumbers109 you are a dumb ass...go shoot yourself...

  • this is when jerry butler was in the group

  • @sheddski jerry is not in the group here.. jerry was long gone

  • The Impressions are sooo cool but those dancers are so cold. This is from an English white boy who just loved the black soul music of the sixties.

    I still do!

  • @barbarybar

That was the big thing on the strip at that time.

Go-go girls. Helped to define that era and show black artists with white people.

  • @IrvHyatt

I was born in 1948 so the sixties were my teenage years. At that time I lived in the East end of London all the local dance halls, discos played Tamla. Alantic and other American black music. No Beatles or Stones etc. Dancing was very important to us then and you had to look good on the dance floor. Your mates and others could be ruthless if you were not. Those girls on the Impressions video would have died.

  • It's alright.

  • Classic Soul is the best of all time. I don't care what anybody says.

  • Man did I rock The Arlington Skatium in L.A. around 1964 when this one came on. Everyone in the place was vibing and knowing it was a GOOD time for music. Whatever dancing thats done on the vid doesn't really matter as we all knew how to get down then and now . LOL

    "Now give yourself a chance."

Forever loving me some Impressions....(O)(G) Keedah

  • The poor Impressions! They have to watch those Whitey's spasmic writhing while performing their song. Probably wish that dancefloor wasn't segregated like it is.

  • Fantastic Song!! the ATROCIOUS dancing really doesn't do justice to this performance. i think i'd have cringed/laughed out if i were the Impressions watching from the stage.

  • Real music!! RIP Curtis!!

  • I sure miss having a good time with this music from back in the day! Those were the days and this was the music...No music like this music ever.. The fabulous 60's and fantastic 70's..A time when everyone got along partied and had a REAL GOOD TIME! SIGHS!

So proud to have been born in the era.

And Yes! I have alot of SOUL! "Smile" Peace all!

Great music, memories, friends and the BEST of times!

Thank you BenKarbie for posting a phenomenal classic and memory!

  • This was a gospel song by Edna Gallmon cooke it was he's alright

  • yo were these smooth brothers here before the Temptations? or about the same time?

  • @motownazn - both groups formed in the late 1950's - evolving with new names and new members. The Impressions achieved chart success earlier but the Temptations followed with hits just a couple of years later (especially starting in 1964).

  • @motownazn - Both groups formed in the late 1950's. The membership and group names changed into the 1960's. The Impressions achieved success on the charts earlier - first in 1958 with "For Your Precious Love", continuing into the 1960's. The Temptations were recording with Motown in the early 1960's but did not achieve commercial success until 1964 when the hits started coming.

  • This song reminds me of my abuelo . I miss him alott.. [ R . I . P ] Te quiero muchoo , Mi abU3LiiTOO :(

  • Damn these white people look mad il they way they're dancing. Like they have no "soul!" It really must suck to not have that soul.lol.

  • @chiladin I've been a musician for 50 years, and watching from the bandstand has been a trip. Most white people have rhythm problems - watch the audience at a show and see how many white folks clap on "1&3". All good musicians have some Soul blood in their family tree, whether they know it or not...........

  • all wrapped in this good stuff. now I understand why people pretend to forget.

because these were some good times.

I remember my parents n the teens partyin to this. and guess what so did I.

    music use to last awhile.

  • Classic 1960s Chicago sound.

    Better than Motown.

  • such pros...i would have been too distracted by the terrible dancing all around me to lip sync

  • Real great music in a very great time! Thank's for this posting!

  • Look at Curtis Mayfield!!! Damn, he look good. He was a fine young man!!

  • This song was just so smooth. I really enjoy this song and the whole meaning of the song. It will be alright.

  • they should have been on motowns label

  • they ARE alright!! must have been in the early sixties - maybe in 1964?? they are awesome!

  • @4orsaorsa

Looks more 50's to me tbh...

  • IT'S GOT THAT CHURCH LIKE FEEL TO IT.

  • they was political Tellig us no matter what Just Keep on pushing People get ready there a train comming. The classic the Best

  • Whats with the ragdolls in the back?

  • I saw these guys live at William and Mary in 1964. Even then I knew what I was seeing. A definitely once in a lifetime experience. Wish I could go back to that day somehow. I'd rather be there than here.
