  • @kamilierikos Not exactly - modern greek bouzouki, turkish saz and levantine buzuq descend from ancient greek pandoura or tanboura. Thus they're all "tanbouroids".

    It is interesting that we realize that some of today's middle eastern instruments have pre-ottoman or even pre-caliphal origins.

  • @zdoor3 That's not the true greek bouzouki. That's a levantine buzuq, similar but not the same as bouzouki.

    The maqam/scale the musician is playing is so wonderful.
