Griffin Elan Clip iPhone 3G Case Review

Ever thought about using the iPhone WITHOUT TAKING IT OUT OF THE HOLSTER? That's the way I use my original elan snap-in and it's bulkier than this one. Why don't we see more options for hanging the phone on one's hip (or purse) without the two-piece awkwardness? I LIKE THAT IT'S GOT A FIRM GRIP ON IT. I would never need to take it out anyway.

cases supposed to care your investment and what this one does is against the bottom line of having an expensive phone and the care you should have with the phone. in my opinion is a great plus to have "hanging on your belt" but I will be so carefull to have it on myself since i am not care to much.. men i do wiggle to much in my daily work, that i will damage my phone easly/ good clip overall.

I've been looking for a case with a clip on it that is removable. I haven't looked too hard, but still have yet to see one. I'd like it to be a nice fitting case/cover that has a low profile removable clip. Any suggestions??

i wouldn't recommend this case to any one, i got this case and it came broken out the box but that's not my point the case clip is very week and i heard of people losing there phone because of it. (going back to att to exchange the case for a different one).

Awesome review Carlos. I actually got the Griffin Elan Form case and Like it for a bit until I took it out and found that it scratched the back of my phone. The apple logo to the brunt of it all. Anyways, thanks for th reviews and I look forward to the rest!

I guess with the AT&T packaging, you miss out on all the details on the Griffin box.

The holster is designed to accept the phone either face in or face out. The curve is there in the case because if you put it face-out, it obviously can't be flat.

The belt clip is designed so that when you twist it horizontally, you can lock the clip in an open position so that you can set it horizontally on a desk to watch videos and such.

Thirdly, the clip tension sucks, and I'm sure it has to do with the way they want the clip to be used as a stand. Basically, as you walk, it will constantly ride up your belt, in either the vertical or horizontal position, and then fall off your belt. I had it happen on concrete causing three huge gashes in my phone.

When I contacted Griffin about this, they informed me it was a known problem with the clip and they are retooling it. They offered to send me any case they currently...

offer and the new version of the clip when it is ready. I tried to fix the clip by wrapping a rubber band at the base of the clip so that i couldn't open it, but the same thing happened.

As for the phone, Griffin informed me that while they don't normally insure the actual device, since it's a manufacturers defect in the clip, if I went to an Apple store and paid the repair cost for a new phone and faxed my receipt to them, they would reimburse the charge.

Apple did replace it for free.

i was going to get that yesterday, but i got the invisible shield, but haha, im taking it back today, cause it is terrible, i had it sitting for like 12 hours and it shows black lines, worst protection ever, so im going to go back and get some case, i dont know which one to get so ill watch ill your videos.

nice video carlos. and the iphone can sit in both ways. if you bought this case in it's original packaging, it says it fits both screen facing out, and screen facing in.

and a trick to remember the whole horizontal and vertical thing, think of this: when you look at a "horizon" your view is "horizon"tal. and obviously the other way is vertical. hope that helps!

i have rebelarctic, it looks really good on a black iphone and it should on a white! but i gave my rebel to my mom now because she got an iphone and she bought an incase slider and didnt like it so we swapped cases and slider is awesome, i give it 9/10 , same as capsulerebel
