Thats my friends lotus esprit v8 twin turbo. its not standard its running over 500bhp. its got no cats just pipes with the lamda sencors put back in, sports exhaust, remapped and chipped, charge coolers in the boot area, straight cut gearbox as the other one gave up. its had other things done to it as well.
the Golf doesnt have a chance. its like when a civic races a lambo. Yeah the civic could win IF ITS MODDED TO THE MAX. So then its no longer a civic!
check out "lotus top speed fast and furious" on youtube to see a lotus 4 cylinder! go to nearly 170 mph. Only mods were cat. conv. taken off and k& N filter.
An R32 wotsit Golf would put up a better fight. Anything that beats it is modified and no longer a 'fair fight'! ;-) lol (if you could call an Esprit Vs an old school GTi a fair fight to start with!)

@nanoncheese Regardless of how much a Golf might be modified, or how fast you make it go, it is still JUST a Volks Wagon - 'People's Car' Golf. A boxy hatchback with ZERO character/charisma or style. There is no beauty or elegance to be found in a Golf-it's a a mere hatchback.The Espirit is a far more desirable car, even if you could tart a Golf up to make it go faster. Golf's are totally overrated, they are a cliche on wheels.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH your right mate my cousin had a vectra gsi he traded if for a top of the range golf, and he hated it got rid 4 days later for another vectra gsi , so overated
