  • Super nerd?

  • do you have autism?

  • Hey i got an Idea!!! What if u take the small perjecter without the casing and mount it on the inside of the arm angeld at the lens. A reflectiv lens like a cheap pair of sunglasses should work. (like the ones were u can see the reflection of yer eyes)

  • might I suggest black tape instead of the "clear" kind, and perhaps some sort of strong adhesive where possible. Haha, enjoyed watching you tear apart and refit a 250 dollar piece of equipment but ummm... I will not be attempting this any time soon, may actually just wait for them to release a more... how should I say... stylish version haha!! - congrats on your success man!

  • Periscope? PERISCOPE?! Don't you young whippersnappers know a MONOCLE when you see it?!?!

Very Borg-like. Glasses are a bit crap tho.

  • se me hace una mamada desahcer unos lentes para algo asi estaban mejor antes

  • Dude Nice Wearable HMD. I have always wanted to make a wearable & even with most of us having smart phones. Now it will be easier because now there is a ton of different devices to make a wearable device. I just laugh when I tell people I want to do this & they always say, you are going to look geeky as heck & I say I do not care, besides everyone looks geeky also with that big blinking bluetooth headset on there ear's, so that is not one of my worries. Again nice head mounted display. You Rock!

  • Hero :) I'm buying myVu because of you ;)

  • now if you can make it into a scouter like dbz you will have something

  • Nice job :P how much was that little thingi and were/how did u buy it? pls write me :D

    thx

  • Nice design but i think that laser retinal projection will be better for avoiding the looking away from reality to view your screen issue you would have. Very cool and neat idea for a consumer product hack.

  • Awesome.

I think it would be great to use it with headsets like Neurosky or Emotiv, mix it with SixthSense design, ad constant web connection trough wi-fi and cellphone, and make it wireless and easy wearable.

  • Vegeta! What's the scanner say about his power-level?!

  • IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND ! ! ! ! ! !

  • After comparing the way you looked before you destroyed the crystals, I can honestly say that you have succeeded to look like a pimp with a severe case of paranoia.

  • its called tac-eye by IWEAR

  • lol

  • Why do the japanese always capture a glance of the future. See dragonball sayians, the monitor they have on their head.

    Hey Really good job.

  • becuse its not the future..... its been around sense vietnam that have been used for gunner displays in aircraft such as the Apache aswell as old VR HUD displays long befor the orginal dragonball exsisted (1984) sorry the japanese are not even related to the technologie or its conception

  • Get a BeagleBoard for it. Those babies have heaps of power!

  • But limited connectivity and no builtin battery. By the time you get Wifi, Bluetooth, some sort of external battery, a case, and whatever else is necessary, you'll probably be paying about as much as the Pandora costs anyway. Plus, the Pandora gives me the option of using it for its intended purpose (playing games) when I feel like it :)

(Mind you, the BeagleBoard certainly doesn't exclude that option, it's just a bit more complicated)

  • Good point. Have you thought about possibly using an Android device like the G1?

Everything built in plus a nice form factor plus in a pinch its a phone :)

  • oh btw how do you plan on pluging it into the computer?

the myvu crystal uses a special ipod connector for the video doesent it?

alternativly the composit video wire.. but that will require som sort of vga box wont it?

i'm facing this problem myself and its tricky to find a deasently smal vga box... and they tend to cost a bit too..

  • All the Myvus come in two packs: Either with the totally-useless proprietary iPod garbage cables, or with a few generic cables including a standard composite cable. Since they're 640x480 (no better than NTSC), composite is sufficient. The Pandora has composite-out as-is, so there's also no hacking required.

  • Well i was thinking about how to best convert ot VGA...

to connect it to the actual compurter...

  • The Pandora is an actual computer, it just happens to be a very small computer with composite out instead of VGA :)

Probably the next generation of HMDs will come with VGA standard, since composite/S-Video will no longer be sufficient with higher resolution than 640x480.

  • Got any links relating to the panorama?

i've thus far only looked at the artigo and fit-pc slim

when we get a wiki up we might want to document all the compact pc options out there...

  • You mean the Pandora? openpandora . org

As per the wiki, there's wearcomp . wikia . com , which may be usable and has the convenient property of already existing. It's on Wikia though, which is lameish ...

  • Sorry if theres a bunch of repeat of this offer (YouTube's AJAX comment box seems to keep dropping my comments).

I started the wearcomp wiki on wikia and presumably have some admin rights to it. If you're interested, I'd be more than happy to transfer them to you, GregorRichards, as I won't be using it for a while until my wearcomp is assembled.

  • That'd be nifty, although I'll warn you that my habit will cause me to overhaul it rather completely if you do :P

I've had problems with it dropping my comments too, I've noticed it mainly happens if there's anything remotely similar to a URL in my post. Annoying X_X

  • An overhaul is fine by me :)

I've got a big life change to do(moving country) and don't currently have time to work out how to transfer the admin rights, but until then, consider it yours and I'll try to get it official some time next week.

  • Oh, I should mention, my username there is GregorR.

  • Yay wearable wiki :3

  • Ah neat.. not as powerfull though...

Pandora 600mhz 256mb ram (comes with screen +s-video out)

    Fit-pc slim ?mhz 512mb ram

    Via Artigo 800mhz 1gb ram

I'll probably go for hte Artigo as i wanna experiment with running artifical inteligence assistancts on it later...

if i can get a emotiv.. then i can really play with that aspect X3

imaging streaming vidoe and emotional data all day to a stationary computer over encrypted connections...

  • Never heard of Fit-PC. The Artigo uses an x86 CPU, doesn't it? Every major x86 clocked at 800mHz is substantially slower than a 600mHz ARM.

  • Well the Artigo can use 1gig ram

and i can use all the ram i can get :3

  • Whatever you build, document it on wearcomp . wikia . com :)

  • Hmm.. there are a couple of us on youtube with ambitions to make wearable computers maybe we should try to set up a colaborative website where we can share information :3

  • I have a slicehost with an absurd amount of unused bandwidth, I could hack up a wiki.

  • watch?v=L9mwGeDAxhk&feature=channel_page

this is where i got the idea... also i rember readign an article on this being used for wearable computing had having a suficiant resolution aparantly..

this video shows how simple it can be (with the right model of video camera anyway)

  • Blargh, I'm sorry, I totally forgot which component the viewfinder was :P.

For some reason I thought of the LCD screen most camcorders have instead of the actual viewfinder. Yes, this makes much more sense X-D

  • The only trick with that is that viewfinders are getting bigger, not smaller ... if it's an old enough camcorder, the viewfinder could be small enough but low-resolution, if it's newer the viewfinder would be big. That being said, I'd like to see the results ... that's actually quite a bit more hackish than my build, I already had all the inputs and outputs I needed :)

  • cool video i migth try this...

though i am considering trying to get an old videocamera and scavaging the viewfinder which tends to have sufficien resolution...

for my own project i am cosidering using the VIA Artigo

    or posibly the fit-pc slim...

and i'll probably as my brother and helping me with batteries :3

also a solid state disk is a must for robustness :3

(and there getting cheaper.. but still expensive)
