If China want fight against Unites States, their government would dump building aircraft carrier becasue it more like weak target and turned to get more nuclear assult submarines. No, they do not donsider there gona be a world war in the predicted future. They build a and may be more aircarft carrier which they considered as a sword of gerneral and or king of wands. that is.

@powerofthroughts I might be wrong since I'm not a political expert, but what I concern about the U.S. well, involvement around the Pacific and South China area is not the President nor the U.S. military, but the exploitative U.S. congress and their defense industry's lobby. On one side will use war itself for greater influence and another one is exploit the situation to gain more money. These two can be really deadly if these excuse-makers gained the upper hand.

@redwhitedude New design takes time to develop, unfortunately that's the luxury that they don't have, and can't afford as well (with countries like South Korea, Vietnam, Philippine, Japan and U.S. keep playing their politics on China). All they need is a touch of ingenuity to modify and upgrade their design, just like Israel has done to their Mirage III squadrons. After-all, warfare is base on ingenuity and deception.

@redwhitedude Defense industry is a cutthroat industry that any slow develop means second best, unfortunately warfare has no place for second best. And with national interest at stake, everyone will steal or deal with technology. Don't assume China's defense sector not advance, because Chinese got too much pride and resources just to be second best.

@powerofthroughts The JH-7A uses a license production of the Rolls Royce Spey. WS-10A turbofans are far too big to fit on this fighter. If China can copy the RD-33 engine, it would fit but they are a long way from copying that. The WS-10A takes over 2 minutes to go from idle to max thrust which has put the engine on hold. When we see a squadron of J-11B with it installed, then we will know it is clear for operation. That has yet to happen.

They can't export it, the license for the engines have already expired. They are lucky to keep the few they have flying.

New J-11B are top fighter, (now main fighter jet ), the manulability, speed, distance even superior then F-22 Raptor, It were mentioned in the Congress's hearing
