  • very cool

  • I love this game, could never beat it, but I always remember the commercial for Decent 3 at the beginning, still works on Vista and Win7 too. Although as a game, I like Star Trek Star Ship Creator Deluxe way more, own and still play that too. Best way I can have my own Voyager since it don't really exist.

  • This is awesome!!!!

  • Meh . . . I'd rather go to Hogwarts than this school . . . Starfleet Academy's campus looks like one of those freakin' for-profit colleges like Phoenix University or what-not . . .

  • @DaftSwank So you rather learn magic, then fly in a space ship shooting lasers (phasers), and meeting alien life? I wouldn't need to think twice, I'd go in space.

  • @KITT171 Yeah? What makes you so sure I couldn't fly into space, meet alien life, and boldy go where no one's gone before using magic? Also, Hogwarts would kick Starfleet Academy's ass in a Quidditch match, hands down . . .

  • 1:58...priceless ^^

  • thanx for sharing..

  • "Risk is our business."

    Sums up Kirk's character.

  • 2:27 They open the massive door for the little shuttle?

  • This was a game I totally enjoyed! Thanks for the vid upload of this amazing opening sequence!

I never failed to be impressed with that speech James Kirk gives! Real inspirational stuff!

"Good luck, fair weather, and never forget that risk is your business." - Captain James T. Kirk

  • God I loved this game back in 1997. Brings back memories.

  • @Trancemaster2052 It totally does for me as well.

  • for a windows 95 game it had really good graphics for the day, but then windows 95 changed everything, and made home pc's popular ..even more so then 3.1

I love Microsoft.. their new surface 2 looks awesome

  • I must admit, I Did love this game on the PC, heh

Although the expansion sucked, heh (Chekov's lost missions or something).

I also hated the fact you couldn't destroy the darn starbase at the beginning of each mission :P

Did anyone try the network play mode?

  • I'm currently uploading some gameplay footage of SFA. I'll post it as response in about half an hour.

  • San Francisco is the land of the liberal and home of the apathetic.

  • wait a minute... there's no sound in space...

  • @evilmonkeyinacloset So do you want those super cool effects of a phaser or warp engine warming up, or a Klingon battle cruiser exploding, or a Romuland Warbird decloaking or not?

  • why didn't kirk just beam down at the begining?

  • God I used to love this game. I played it for hours on end. One time I had just completed a mission for the first time after playing it like 20 times in a row. But after the battle the warp nacelles were blown away. Didn't want to have to do it again, so I set out on impulse and just let it run, near 12 hours later I made it back to the station.

  • @TheFatBoy09

Now that's what I call dedication.

  • what movie is this from? soz trekkies dont hate me. someone please reply

  • @isthiswhereitype1

This ist the Intro Movie to Starflee Academy, an Interplay PC-Game from 1997.

  • Interplay have made the finest Star Trek games to date i say, My favourite has to be Klingon Academy Wow what a game espically with all the filming they did it was like a Undiscovered Country prequel. Its a pitty Interplay aren't still around.

  • This is BS. There isn't anywhere near enough real estate in San Francisco for such a large open campus. I am sure in the 23rd century SF real estate prices will only be more expensive.

Why does Star Trek Music sound like Delius?

  • Real estate prices? In the Star Trek future they've stopped caring about such petty things..money and wealth are no longer top priority.

  • @RealisticEndings In the Star Trek future there seems to be more interest in war than anything else, so I really would hope our future does not turn out to be this. I would rather see exploration instead dumb space battles. So I don't think your vision is any more enlightened than mine.

  • I'm sure the war in the 90s left pleanty of space in SF.

  • @korwinblue You mean the Eugenics War. Yea, whatever happen to that. Maybe this is the Forgotten War that I hear about every so often. Personally I have hard time believing that Ricardo Montalban could ever start a war on his own.

  • Are you fucking kidding? Star Trek is all about exploration, that's the entire nature of the show..Starfleet can't exactly help it when hostile aliens attack.

  • @CynicalVision I don't know whether the Religious Right lunatics or trekkie fans are worse. They both live in an alternate universe and worship falsities. Star Trek sucks because it uses the concept of the MILITARY to "explore". That's not the future I want and really don't think we will ever see a future like this. It's BS.

  • @marcparella - actually Marc, most Trekkors live in the real world as do Christians. Star Trek is enjoyable sci-fi fantasy that incorporate everyday human issues in its story lines which is one of the primary reasons it's so popular.

  • Donowho must the coolest surname ever. Ultra philosophical!

  • I agree. Whenever you commit a crime and someone asks "Who did it?" The reply will always be "Donowho" and they'd assume you're saying "dunno who" and carry on. Hehe.

  • lol, i hadn't thought of that.

  • what game is this?

  • My strategy was to reinforce the shields or hull (I don't remember which) and collide with enemies. Then it was a race to get weapons back online.

  • Bad hair-dye job, Jim.

  • LOL..I just realized...what's with San Francisco? Starfleet Academy is in San Fran, and Atlantis SGA series end had Atlantis land in the San Fran harbor. hmmmmmm........interesting!

  • SF is where the UN charter was signed.

  • Ah! Thanks for the info..hmmm very interesting!

  • @wrlord Isn't there a naval base there as well? I never knew that about the UN charter :)

  • San Francisco is also near Hollywood.

  • Oh yeah! of course! and I just remembered that as San Fran is near the water and a major harbour and had a major military base.

  • @BoydofZINJ Actually that's Los Angeles =P

  • @oneangrybanana Not to mention in Terminator: Salvation, Skynet Central is in SF!

  • @heavyarms01h Ah ha! Cool.

  • @oneangrybanana And don't forget that in "Terminator Salvation," SkyNet Central is in San Francisco... T_T;

  • @heavyarms01h Ooooh! coool.

  • How do you set the color depth to either 24-bit or 32-bit? It's stuck on 16-bit for me, and I can't find a way to change it.

  • 5:24 "Denny Crane"...

  • Why did'nt Kirk and Sulu beam down?

  • Protocols. There are several areas around Star fleet and Star fleet academy that are protected by shields to prevent enemy or terrorists from beaming in.

  • The UN should make something like the UN spacey from macross,

  • I remember this game when it came out...it was a blast....and it still looks good by todays standards. I want to go to the stars....whos with me?? ;-)

  • Very fun.

  • i wish these games would work on windows vista i realy miss them

  • they do all you got to do is change your video settings to 16bit and it works for me

  • To pal8383, it should work just find if you run it in "Compatibility Mode". All you have to do it right click the SFA shortcut and click properties. Then, press the compatibility tab, and select to run in compatibiliy with Windows 95.

  • this makes me weep for my past..I WANT IT BACK!!! :(

  • I still have the original discs and the expansion "checkhovs lost missions" sitting right in front of me ;-) If youd like a copy of the original discs id be happy to do them for you

  • hey can u do that for me lol my old disc got all destory but a broken disc tray

  • could you?

  • The music is very good.

Game itself was not the best of the Trek games but i had good fun playing it..

  • there is a book containing a story about this game

  • It was a pretty good game. Bad news, I can no longer install the game. Don't know why though. When I get to the installation progress screen, it just freezes.

  • OMG I played this game for days on end when it came out...

  • /me weeps at the shear awesomeness of this intro. i still have the game but i think the cd's are dust now.

  • this was an awesome game! I miss it!

  • I loved this game, it was great for it's time. The only disadvantage was the lack of the view of outside the ship. Anyway the Interplay had few nice Trek games, too bad they don't exist anymore.

  • The best game intro ever made!

  • Wow. This is really cool. :D

  • I believe one day it is possible for mankind to voyage to the stars.Mabey not in my life but one day it will.

  • "Yes they had good games, especially their space combat sims, I naver saw a good space combat sim since their're gone ..."

starfleet & klingon academy were both great game (with latter being also better) but in terms of space-combat-sim i find "bridge commander" >> especially with the "kobayashi maru" mod which gives you an extra of ~60 ships ...

nonetheless this game was kickass, captured the movie era perfectly

  • good times in Academy, dont ? Now we are ready to get any starship !!

  • I wish I had a lecture teacher like Mr. Sulu

  • Yay it's the Interplay logo. I miss those crazy guys.... Please God let them make a successful restructuring.

  • Yes they had good games, especially their space combat sims, I naver saw a good space combat sim since their're gone....

  • This is...awesome.

  • There is a SFA fan group on IMEEM! All fans go join!

I love this game! Been play'in it for a long time. Too bad the video quality couldn't be better lol

  • I was the Director of SFA - just want to thank you for the good job you've done of transferring to video.

FYI, the reason the original movie sequences are so difficult to transfer electronically is that Interplay used their own encoding software - which also had the by-product of degrading the picture quality....

  • Thank you! The live action sequences with Takei, Shatner and Koenig were an absolute delight to watch!

  • I agree! :)

  • @martind1000 Great job on that game! It must be gratifying to know that over a decade later, the fruits of your labour are still being enjoyed and appreciated :)

  • why did interplay go bankrupt?

  • Where did you get this??!! I love it; I heard awhile ago that there was a series but never again until this popped up.... I would like to be able to see the entire thing, thanks for posting it :)

  • Can I ask how you managed to record this?

I tried recording the mission with Jacob McNeil, using fraps, but unfortunatly, the video just turned out jumpy, the audio was fine, but the video wasn't. :(

  • When I couldn't find any other way I just pointed my video camera at the screen and ran the thing.

  • Ah ok, well thanks for answering, I guess I'll have to try it that way, lol.

    thanks again for responding. :)
