  • Actually Elvis debuted in '54 (Jackie went single in '57) & he was public with where he got his influences from ie the african american community he grew up in in Tupelo; watching gospel & blue performances a.s.o. Elvis & Jackie were friends & had a mutual admiration for eachother. They both had unique styles & in a way you can thank Elvis that we can enjoy this video today because when Elvis first came on dancing like this he was monitored by police & was only allowed to be filmed waist up.

  • you better know. jackie was great....always in motion..

  • Now i know why his name is Jackie, Because EVERYBODYYY Jacked his style...

  • @MLKKML lol

  • Everything old is new. You see him doing the moon walk LOL I saw him live in Boston at Symphony Hall. He was Mr. Excitement.

  • Everything old is new. You see him doing the moon walk LOL

  • Fuckin bourgeois blancbecs qui peuvent même pas clapper sur le rythme.

  • I dont know the history....but I'm willing to bet that Elvis mimicked Jackie Wilson to-a-tee!! I'm sure he watched him day & night.....he had to.

  • @Mooshnick

you are correct...Elvis jacked his whole style...Elvis was even quoted as saying Jackie Wilson was among his influences.

  • nothing but Mad love for Mr. Excitement Jackie wilson!

  • No words... I love this!

  • jackie was called the black elvis, when I was young. I enjoyed his music and style so much. he always had great backing vocals too. you knew it was a jackie wilson, song just from the backup singers before the DJ even said who it was.

  • 1:11 all the white people are off beat LOL i love this man such an influence on me!

  • That step he does is so cool!!

  • @k29137 If you think his moves here were something, they're NOTHING compared to what he did live. I saw him perform once and he whipped that audience into a frenzy (black and white alike). He did splits, twirled his jacket around in the air like he was going to throw it into the audience and the girls went crazy trying to grab for it. What a show. One that I will never forget.

  • @MsAppassionata Anyone who had seen Jackie at the peak of the Rock & Roll era knows why he was considered the best. Most of the famous artists who worked with him have stated that he was the most exciting artist they ever worked with.

I don't think there's anyone on this planet who has seen Jackie perform 'live' more than I had, and each time was magic. There will never be a talent as great as his.

  • @PutOnASweater Wow you're lucky. I only got to see him that one time but it's stamped in my memory like a brand.

  • @MsAppassionata Yes, I was lucky. Since you've seen him, you know it's literally impossible to describe to someone just how fantastic he really was, the word "Great" has no meaning when you speak about Jackie...saw him more than 100 times.

  • @PutOnASweater More than 100 times! That must be some kind of record.

  • @MsAppassionata That was over a 13 year period....he was just amazing.

  • @PutOnASweater I forgot to mention - I did get to meet him once. I was a member of the Harlem YMCA and one day we had a street cleanup campaign. He showed up to meet the crowd but I was a kid and too shy to tell him how much he meant to me, something which I still regret.

  • @MsAppassionata That is a shame....he was very easy to talk to and never turned down a request for a photo or autograph.

  • he was 24..or 23 here

  • I seen some moves that Jackie done in this i seen C Beery done on stage he got it off J W it looks also the same thing for J Brown & M J this man is so under-rated no body dance like him then it's like he couldn't keep still if he tried great stuff thanks.

  • JACKIE HAD SWAG BEFORE IT WAS EVEN THOUGHT OF

  • true bboy

  • 1:12 so off beat

  • @kingcam0775 lol

  • @kingcam0775 Absolutely annoying....

  • am 13 and am on my granddads account

but my my this is amazing

my granddad usually says o this is brill about all the singers from back in the day and being nice i just say oo yer there good and am in to dancing omg i have been trying for ages to get that foot movement because it was brilliant i wish i could do it its fantastic ....... i no were Michael jackson got his moves haha i mean why has this kind of music and dancing faded away its prophetic what more can i say this is brill

  • @soulman1950 yea when my grandmother talked about Fred Astaire, the Nicholas Brothers, Cab calloway etc i I was like: yea whatever I'm sure that sucks, but it IS awesome, so when I finally watched it I immediatly loved it :D

  • I really like 50s music but I just watched this guy for the first time and... I fall in love !

  • SWEET.love it.

  • the scenery's on fire!

  • A #1 hit for the late Jackie Wilson on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 56th #1 R&B hit in the Rock Era.

  • He was so smooth and so cute

  • I've got a lot of respect for past artists. Man, they must have gone through heaps of struggle. If it weren't for them, we wouldn't be where we are.

God bless them. I'll always remember their passion, spirit, and ongoing struggling against racism, and even from their own to achieve their dreams, and do more. Got to respect these artists of past.

Of today, nah; they don't do much for me. These of the past sang from heart, lived what they sand.

Today, 15 is singing of love and all that. LOL.

  • @offthehook2 everything ok except for last sentence. Ritchie Valens, Ricky Nelson and Frankie Lymon was also teenagers when they started their careers and they were also singing about love and... I belive them :)

  • 50s were funny times. In more ways than one.

  • Today's musicians can learn a lot from the classic quality performers of past. But I think most are too arrogant and/or lazy to want to.

  • I remember going with my bother and sister to the movies in Fayetteville, NC. I was nine and my siblings were 7 and 8. We had to sit in the balcony because it was segregated. I was mezmerized with Jackie Wilson. He was certainly Mr. Dynamite. We saw the movie" Go Johnny Go" a least 5 times that day. I have loved his music ever since. Even at nine years old, I thought he was the most handsome man I had ever seen.

  • i came to see jackie's vid cuzi heard mj was highly influenced by him. and hell yeah it's true. he is amazing

  • If anyone has the Jackie Wilsonsong 'You Ought to See my baby" I would SOOOOO love to see it posted.

  • @thgreatestman The correct name of that song is "Talk That Talk", and it is on Youtube.

  • bkatayab ....hi to you ....you are right god bless in your words about african americans ..... people moves and singers ....bless

  • Smooth,Jackie was the man..

  • ... I can see why MJ LOVED this man

  • Thank you for having Jickie on Youtube, I didn't find ( We have Love ). I play that song over and over until my wife marry me.

  • @DONALDEDable "We Have Love" has been on YT for about a year now.

    Check it out.

  • Hey, the year i was born...

  • do to this during the peak of the segregation years... its so impressive, wonderful voice and truly inspiring! RIP JACKIE!!

  • @dirtysteve69er There will never be another Jackie Wilson

  • WOW!, I LOVE that two foot skip

  • Michael, Elvis, James Brown and Frankie Lymon were all influenced by Jackie Wilson whose movie is long overdue.

  • true but it will be hard finding someone who can micmic his dance movies look at lonely teardrops it's amazing he is standing one moment and drop down to the floor then come up in one motion.

Not anyone can do it with his charisma

  • i love this music cool

  • Man I love that little straight legged hop thing he did! You go Mr. Excitement with your fabulosity!

  • I think that was Jimmy Clanton at the end/before the fade to black.

  • PEACE

  • SPECTACULAR, MAGNIFICENT, EXPLOSIVE, DYNAMIC, BRILLIANT, ICONIC, IMMORTAL, this is one of the most important men in black entertainment. There is a concert going on in heaven and Michael just joined the roster. I guess GOD felt we didn't appreciate these awesome talents here on Planet EVIL so why leave them here. And the all died horrible deaths. R.I.P Jackie, Sam, Otis, James, Ray, David, Frankie, Marvin, and Michael earth gave you hell but heaven gi

  • @whit1020a yeah right on, an what bout billy eckstine, charlie parker and cab calloway?

  • Anyone notice Ozzie & Harrriet and Rickie Nelson on the dance floor??? Awesome! Another great swing tune!

  • he was a true "showman" I admire how African americans could perform and smile and be treated so horribly by the same people who hire them and watch them perform

  • @bkatayab Wasn't always easy, as you can imagine....

  • @bkatayab you took the words out of my mouth i was just going to say what you said ..funny that hey ! to me i have tears what some of the black people had to go though hey ..god bless you for thinking like me but pls always respcet ..becuz we have to understand people with power hey grrrr !

    bless out to alll

  • @bkatayab In the end it was another African american that really screwed him.

  • @bkatayab ...thanks for your acknowledgement from a Black woman....

  • from the film go johnny go,just released on dvd in the uk

  • Blacks couldn't vote untill 1964 . we as americans have come a ways , with a ways to go . these were great entertainers .

  • Actually, Black could vote since 1864. They were frequently prevented from doing so, particularly in Southern states, but they had the right to vote.

  • Cool vid!!!! Thanks.

  • Fantástico, no me extraña que Michael Jackson de pequeño quisiera aprender tanto de él, y sin ninguna duda, el pupilo superó al maestro con creces.

Thank you very much Mr. Jackie Wilson,

Thank you very much Mr. Michael Jackson, I love you very much!

  • Love Jackie's moves, boy did Michael learn alot from him. Another great gone to soon.

  • actually, the moonwalk is credited to Bill Bailey...Pearl's brother.....

  • I never seen him do the moon wlk can u send me the tape on this thank you

  • was he just doing the moon walk???

  • Well Michael Jackson did say that Jackie Wilson was a massive influence on him.

  • i believe Michael Jackson got the moon walk from hin Jackie wilson invented Moon walking

  • Thats a negative, but Jackie is the man!! the Moonwalk was here before michael and Jackie! There a vid on here showing the origin of it.

  • can u show me the orgin of the moonwalk kim thank you

  • Sure, just type in "Origin of the Moonwalk" lol simple as that and the vid will pop up

  • Is it just me or was the white people at 1:12 snapping off beat??

  • michael jackson got his move from jackie wilson jw was ahead of his time

  • hilarious how all the white people in the video are in none of Jackies shots and look like they are miles away, recorded in a different place or something.

  • Yeh we should all be Colorblind with music, as long as it is Stole from the Sacred ancestry of Black America.

yeh right. Black America gonna have the last word on this.TRUST.

  • MJ did say that James Brown and Jackie Wilson were among his influences.

  • holy shit!...i guess todays performers are just useless.

  • those moves!,those steps! he has what you call IT !!!!

  • Isee where MJ gets his MOVES, thanks for the post.

  • Chuck Berry and alan Freed at 0:43

  • Love this tune and his other great track, come back to me, both great rock n roll dance tunes.

  • Jackie Wilson makes me proud to be an American!

  • I agree (I don't forget Hank Williams too)but unfortunately I'm not born in America.

  • Funny comment, but not totally correct. Jackie did his part on a soundstage, then it was edited into the film...the dancers did not see Jackie at all, they were the dance & might have had other music at the time of filming. If you look closely, that's Cannoball Adderley "playing" the sax. Sitting at the table is Alan Freed with Chuck Berry.

  • haha white ppl offbeat as usual 1:10

  • Jackie is the best - look at that move at 1:29! Smooth.

  • yer babes i do LOVE it ,.,,,,,aint heard it though so many thnks for this treasure,,,,,,have a sweet day hun ,,,,

    babsie babse

  • GO JACKIE GO GO

  • What movie is this clip from??

  • blk people can really sing one of the best talent ever

  • Global my older brother told me that the reason that the black male music artist didn't receive the acclaim that they rirghtfully deserve was because of the obvious the color of their skin and the fact that white females enjoyed them moreso than their white counterparts.Ray Charles said in a interview years ago about Elvis that he didn't do anything special young kids both black and white enjoyed his music more than his.

  • good spot 69er! the man is fantastic .and there you are in the crowd again

  • As you stated the term race records was started by whites in the music industry but whites were still listening to black artist before Elvis got his start in the mid 50's.

  • Jackie Wilson Quotes about Elvis Presley

A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact almost every black solo entertainer copied his stage mannerisms from Elvis.

That is a very well known fact, and another is the fact that they were very good friends and had deep respect and admiration for each other.

    Gone too soon. R.I.P. Jackie

  • Global this correct a lot of Elvis hits were remakes of black artists that were already heard by the public.Elvis got wealthy of black music point blank Ray Charles said so in a interview years ago.

  • That is totally true, as back then they were considered "race records" and played only on black stations. As Little Richard puts it "Elvis was an integrator, he opened the door for all of us".

And another way to put it into today's scene:

Elvis was the Eminem of the 50's they're both talented white people playing a type of music originated by black people, and unfortunaly the fact that they're white it is still an issue. Music itself it's colorblind as we ALL should be.

  • If your old ennogh, you know that Jackie Wilson was the greatest. Never to be again. James Brown maybe, but NO ONE else! Notice the similarity to Elvis? The Jackie Wilson "Strut" has become immortalized.

  • jackie wilson was before elvis.elvis did a good job mimicing him and he said he got his style from jackie.

  • Oh yeah, you can see Jackie Wilson in Elvis Presley. Every song and dance in a movie, you could see jackies moves no doubt. Great artist taken away to soon.

  • such a unique talented performer, tragically left this world too early!

  • THATS GREAT BOB THANKS FOR THE SHARE

  • He could have done opera...

  • Jackie`s way out on top,he`s total class,.ktf.

  • classic

  • Did I just see the precursor to Micheal Jackson's Moonwalk or what?! U da man, Jackie!

  • No, the precursor of moonwalk is Bill Bailey

  • but almost certainly James Brown built on and adapted some of the things in Jackie's stage persona :D

  • I bet not one of those party guests would have Mr. Wilson over for dinner!

  • Amen to that, brother -- that was 1958!

  • damn he layed it down with those moves!

  • Jackie was an outstanding and amazing performer, truly one of the greats! Outstanding work musically, and well done. Jackie!

  • Amazing! It's such a shame he changed his musical style in 1960.

  • jackie was bad ass. amazing songs, I think his hair is made of licorice though

  • No be had a PROCESS like most black men did,

with an idenity problem.Hell, I had one too back

    then,and I was only 13.Fifty years ago.

  • Wow, what great memories I have of watching Jackie Wilson when I was a kid. He was a terrific singer and dancer. Lots of people have copied his "moves" (i.e. Michael Jackson). But Jackie was cooler than his mimics. Very smooth and very talented. Too bad he died so young.

  • To Happy: Michael's fans r fanatics who will never give credit to some of MJ's inspiration! Jacky Wilson was so superior to MJ in ea. way! Especially that fabulous voice! He was taken from us too soon and his talent was under-recognized. He was capable of doing great things, he would have loved doing broadway and movies.

I give credit to kids like Ne-yo & Usher who are not afraid to handle different material. MJ is same-old, same-old.

  • Wow you really are dissing Michael! Michael always have given credit to Jackie Wilson and James Brown don't worry about some of his fanatic fans. Don't take away from Michael trying to build Jackie back up.

Jackie was great and Michael is great!

  • Mr. Style: no sense in starting war over this. You are entitled to support whatever talent makes you happy! I guess I am a harsh judge of MJ, besides not caring for his voice I detest the way he relates to kids, and yes, I know I am judging. We are all, judges sir. we just do our best to get thru this life as we can.

I thank the person who put up these great and rare tapes of Jackie Wilson. One of the most talented people of my lifetime.

  • Just sounds like you are a fanatic of Jackie Wilson who won't give credit to another great artist.

  • Dont know what you got to him, but I like his voice:D

  • Some more of great JackieWilson & this was sedate! The TV of those days did not let black men do too much suggestive dancing, but u can see how graceful he is. Look at his Moonwalk. 1958 30 yrs b4 Michael took it.

  • Actually this dance move was done in the 40's by a man named Louis Jordan he was the grandfather Michael kept quiet about.

  • oh my lord! those 2 in the front got RHYTHM!!!

  • condensedclassics needs to fix this video, the beginning does not start correctly, so that dulls the whole song, needs to be complete from beginning to the end....

  • We all take private lessons. lol

  • inferiority complex?

  • Wow, he could sing and dance! Such a powerful voice! RIP Jackie.

  • incredible , please bring more jackie wilson

  • In 1975 J.W.got a hearth attack on stage when he sang:..my hearth is bleeding...in the song Lonely Teardrops. He was in coma more than 8 years. Elvis visited him in hospital severel times, and when he found out that J.W. was broke, he paid all his hospital bills until Wilsons death. I hope they Rock together in heaven !

  • sorry, it was" my heart is crying".
