I have sapphire ati radeon HD 5870, which is supposed to be very good. i also have an intel i7 quad core processor but i can't play this game on max settings! does this game has like hardcore graphics? my problem is the view distance, when i turn on maximum i totally exceeds what my computer can handle... is this game like more hardcore than crysis? :S

@Larvemannenz001 , I, Much like silent83PL have a dated set up. 4gb ddr2, q9650 quad core, 4890x2. I get simular FPS although Cooler CPU when playing, Which realisticly is not playable, Im not happy unless its atleast 50/60FPS. 25-30 just doesnt cut it.

The thing with this game, is it idealy wants as much ram as you can throw at it,Although 4gb should be plentyful, Good latency timings (not important for fast memory such as 800mhz+)

You want i7 or quad core of atleast q9550 (overclocked).

The game is made for 360 which uses 3 cores, So 2 cores is a bottleneck. the game is poorly ported onto the pc platform, so sadly its hard to run this game fluently, which sucks, as if it was made purposely for the pc, it would be so much better and performance would be improved massivly

I use Cooler Master GeminII S

It is very good cooler. Silent and can handle temperatures on Q9550 OCed to 3,8GHz 24/7 but a bit to weak for 4,2GHz 24/7.

In same price u can buy MUGEN2 which as i think is a better cooler.

You are not using the max settings, GTA4 use about 1480MB video memory at max settings but you only have about 896MB!!

CPU ok but u must rlly change graphic card - it use good for watching films but nothing else (it will be hard to play GTA4 even on low settings - if u don't have game don't buy, otr buy game and at least 9600GT)

haha, it's funny, on my old rig i was running gta4 with an 8600gt (256mb) a 1.6ghz pentium dual core cpu and 2 gigs of ddr2 ram (It actually ran to a half respectable level, lol).

But now I've got an nvidia gt220 (1gb), the same ram, and I'm wondering if I should get an Intel Pentium dual core e6500 (2.93ghz) or core 2 duo e7500 (2.93ghz as well). Got any ideas?. The only difference between the 2 is the core 2 duo has a 3mb cache and the Pentium dual core has a 2mb cache. thanks

gta 4 is mainly cpu.. .so it doesnt mater so much for what video card you have.. you can use an 8800 gt and still get max settings if you unlock them.. with a good cpu.. comes down to what game you want max for gta 4 you have it mostly loading off the cpu so quad is min I would play it with..

T5800 and 9650m so i gues it is notebook. On this stuff u can play at low setting i think - GTA4 is very bad optimized game (9600GT from PC have problems with medium setting so "m" edition will fail for sure :/ )

Cool dude I have the pretty much the same specs except my cards a GTX and I only have 2 gigs of ram. I get better frame rates then you thou, and I use medium settings. I hover around the high 20's low 30's. I think most of your problems either your card, your motherboard (although my boards a piece of crap) or the rez your trying to run the game in.

is the draw distance 100% on the console version? also look at the console gameplay, when your in a helicopter, the terrain goes blurry, they made it blurry, because it's easier to render blur than it is to render detail, lol

if the console's ran the game with IDENTICAL settings, the console would struggle. Not to mention the console version is HARDWIRED to run at 640p, with NO Anti Aliasing, so your getting much more clarity on the PC.

the 360 is 720p with 2xAA tho. PC can go up to 16XAA

but when i set things to high(no fps problems sometimes at night it goes down to 15) but things appear late. example when i die then the little park or somethin with seets appears about 3 or 4 seconds later etc. and so thing around city: background buildings trees sometimes much more. any suggestion?

not fps in games, but loading times are much shorter - start GTA4 from menu start like 8sec (30sec before i had Raid0). Also system works much faster, and those transfer on disk 204MB/s (MB MBytes no Mbits XD)

Yes u can, u can change every option separetly and it doesn't influence others - ofcourse u have to use no-restrictions option in command line first unless u have 1,7 or 2GB graphic card :P
