If the Asbestos industry actually invested money in real safety equipment they could have saved themselves. But they didn`t and greed ended up killing themselves. Just respirators could have saved a shitload of lives.
The mill is not there but the old office block is still there at the other side of the road, infact it is now turned into 6 houses, but the land and gardens are full off asbestos
No wonder non have sold, i have been doing alot of work up there and before it was turfed there was huge climps of it lieing around, awefull awefull place to be.
They are not allowed to building anything 10 foot away were the mill once stood due to the huge amounts of asbestos
Demolished but not forgotten. 1979 isn't that far back and it can take 40 to 60 years for the symptoms to appear in some cases. Recently they tried to develop the site but the locals were scared of the asbestos waste buried there and managed to block it. There are loads of asbestos dumps in the valley so it could prove to be a lingering legacy. It's a very nasty way to die with much suffering.
