  • we dominated russians by their own technology hehe)))

  • Seems to be virile British anti Russian propaganda(Finland lost in the end to Russia). Then a short time later Britain was allied to Russia and went on to free Europe from the dreaded Hun(with a little help from the Yankees), whilst Finland had Jerry around for tea and cake and then had to fight to kick him out of Lapland, which of course he burnt before he left showing German gratitude for Finland's support for them.

  • СЕРП І МОЛОТ,СМЕРТЬ І ГОЛОД.

  • @FallenEmpire666 SS divisions have nothing to do with the Winter War.

  • Finnish propaganda was different if we compare it to others, because it actually told the truth. :-D

  • Glory to the great Finnish nation! Glory to their fight for freedom!

And if you ask who I am - I am Polish. We had common enemy...

  • @kingsnake94 Also Russian casualties were much higher. They lost very much men in Winter and Continuation war.

  • Hail Finland! Good work protecting your nation from the drunken horde. I saw a concert in Finland last year with some Finnish friends from school, it was awesome and Finns are awesome people!!

  • @TheGeorgianskater

Hate to tell this to you but Finns are generally as good drunks as the Russians if not worse. In all Europe the Swedish, Finnish and Scottish teens have the most alcohol problems. Here's something you need to learn too. Both in Finland and Sweden they have alcohol monopoly owned by the government. Alcohol is such a problem it can only be distributed in special retailers owned by the state.

Drunk Finns is a problem here in Sweden.

Wasn't Stalin from Georgia?? Some people.

  • @McLarenMercedes Yeah, thanks to us problem childs who keep drinking our liver away, you guys can keep sipping tea and don't have to learn russia as a first language.

  • @McLarenMercedes Never heard that drunk finnish people is a problem in Sweden, please, stop making us swedes look bad with nonsensical statements like that.

  • @McLarenMercedes awww you are just saying that because you cant handle alcoholxD i have seen so many swedes in drunk at viking line and stockholm that i can really say that you guys can be also quite a assholes and pigs when you are drunk;)

  • @TheGeorgianskater

Bootlegging is common in Northern Finland. I know because I have relatives living there.

Finns are pretty silent a boring. Decent folks but boring. I know because other Europeans who have visited Finland said it made the other Scandinavian countries look exciting by comparison. My American friend told me that her friend was in Finland and only Belgium bored her more.

So quit kissing ass here and looking at the world like it's all black and white.

  • @McLarenMercedes you make absolutely no sense and your response to my comment is completely irrelevant and unrelated to what I said.

  • @McLarenMercedes

I laughed so hard at your comment.

    Finland boring? heh

It might seem boring on the surface but its not our fault if you missed the parties and all the other fun.

Still waters run deep I quess.

  • @McLarenMercedes wow what a ignorant jackassxD my friend told me bla bla blaxD do your homework before saying things like that dude:)

  • IT WAS FINLAND who is responsilble for that FINLAND, SWEDEN, NORWAY and DENMARK still exists. If finns had not stopped the ruskis then all scandinavia would be speaking russian today. THINK ABOUT THAT

  • To every1 who is saying that those war statistics are finn propaganda. Use your logic... Finland was outnumbered and outgunned atleast 10 to 1 but still we managed to hold our own, so only possible explanation is that soviets had to lose 10 soldiers for every1 of ours.

  • I SALUTE OUR BROTHERS THE FINNS. I AM ESTONIAN AND OUR NATION SADLY GAVE IN TO THE SOVIET TERRORISTS. WE SHOULD HAVE FOUGHT AGAINST THE SOVIET TERRORISTS LIKE THE FINNS DID IN OUR OWN UNIFORMS!

  • @XxxPrinceOfSpartaxXx

wikipedia is bull, anybody can alter it

just remember Finland had propaganda as well as all other nation in war. Great Britain exaggerated their planes lost to German ones shot down in the battle of Britain. Finland was no exception.

  • @Lbano11

which they later used against the Germans

  • Finland:

    180000 men

    32 tank

    114 airplane

    26000 killed in winter war.

    Soviet Union:

    425000

    6500 tank

    3880 airplane

    250000 killed in winter war

  • @Suomizki cannons?

those whos big part of cannons ratio....

this hearing almoust wiki note..... allways mention tjust tanks, airplanes and mens...

  • @Suomizki FIN: 26 000 dead/missing + 44 000 wounded = 70 000 causalties.

    SOV: 130 000 dead/missing + 190 000 wounded = 320 000 casualties

    Around 1:4,5 kill ratio.

  • Battle of Salla 16.12.1939

Red Army 122.division retreated 70 kilometers.

  • Casualties are hard to count.. You have to decide if you count the casualties as deaths, or take a more strategic approach. The latter would be better in a war as you count the wounded in the same way as the dead. Which is a fact as, well, a wounded soldier rarely returns to the front. I always preferred to halve the wounded rate to get the "wounded beyond repair" soldiers.

  • The russian lost like a million...just some red army units escaped to there country....scandinevia and russia has allways ben fighting each other for supremese...back time in history, and i hope it will not happen..AGAIN,..ever..

  • The Finns had one thing the Soviets did not have,

    Sisu!

  • @uncleavi2002

and the will to defend their OWN country, which is why invaders of countries always need to face the reality of the locals fighting for their OWN country all over the world

  • well..25% is more than finnish army had. and russians lost during winterwar over 200 000 soldiers..finns lost 25 000..numbers speak for them selves communist dicks were slaugthered without eny1s help thats a fact. later germans joined the war wich was not "defensive war" so finland lost it roughly at the end

  • Yea, after soviets launched an gigantic attack we couldn't keep it. The soviets ahd over 1 million men attacking against us, and we had 300-500 thousand men.

  • bloody hell

  • Soviets use about 25% its army power against Finns(Continuation war)

  • 1.25 million Soviet soldiers against a nation of 3 million citizens....

  • SERIOUSLY WE FINNS ARE SELFCONSCIOUS! Just fucking because you would like to believe the propaganda of our own doesn't mean it's TRUE. Way fucking too many times I've been put to -10 because I've said the god damn facts.

Don't make yourselves like the Russians. FFS

  • @nomorefooling 1.25 million soldiers vs a little over 300 thousand soldiers,idiot

  • @darnjack0roll You are fucking stupid. You don't even know the difference between citizen and soldier, idiot. Just because you are so stupid, I will do some pilkunnussintaa here: during continuation war there were over 500 000 finnish soldiers (+ about 200 000 germans) on finnish front.

  • @darnjack0roll yes but they were finns u idiot, plus the germans didnt advance a shit in the north, and second i was talking about winter war,so jokes on you idiot

  • In the winter war... About 127 000 Russians died in Finland. Including the ones shot by us, their own, drowning, frozen, starvation, diseases and everything... and ofcourse the about 200 000 dead in the Continuation war. Their combined losses are in thta scale... ofcourse the injured too, but you shouldn't count them to the casualties in that sense.

  • Why not? Most injuries sustained in war are permanently disabilitating.

  • Because if you say (this is just a random number). "Their losses were 100 000 men." it gives the picture that a 100 000 men have died, regardless of the fact if 75 000 were wounded only.

  • But they lost 100 000 men able to fight, as those injured are no longer able...

  • The field kitchens need to be cleaned from Russian filth before using :DDD

  • Nikita Hruštšov, the highest Soviet leader after Stalin´s reign said once publicly that during Winter War 1,5 million Red Army soldiers were sent against Finland. 1 million of them never returned from Finland frontier. Those official soviet statistics are same kind of lies like their economic statistics were. Winter War 1939-40 was the worst humiliation ever for Red Army. They do not want to tell their real military losses in their statistics. Finland´s army then lost about 26.600 soldiers.

  • That's a ridiculous figure Kruschev made up to make it look like Stalin was incompetent.

  • The amount of a million dying has been pointed out as rubbish several times. Not sure if you meant it as fact or just quoting Nikita. But the 200 000 dead is more close to the fact. Of the Russians I mean.

  • sadetakki

I belive that Nikita Hrustsov knew better those real Soviet losses than you. He had high position during WWII too. He was the highest leader of the Soviet Union after Stalin died. But I know too that some people in Finland belive whatever those false soviet statictics say (behind it are ideology reasons)

  • Sadetakki? :D Anywho, try to find another realiable source that backs up the 1.5 lost Russian men... It's an highly over the top. The real number was somewhere of 200 000. The Continuation war was 126 000 if I remember right. Besides... Russia had reserved a million men to attack Finland.. How could 1.5million die from an army of a size of a million. Get your facts right.

  • I did not say that 1,5 million died. Hrustsov said that during winter war 1,5 million men were sent against Finland and 1 million of them never returned from Finland frontier. Your comment just proved that you did not even read my comment before. You just want fanatically repeat those Stalin´s statistical lies (ideology reasons behind it). Soviet military statistics were full of lies like economy statistics were too :) Whole Soviet Union was based on lies, mass murders and communist propaganda.

  • My bad, must've misread it. Anywho. Do you EVEN KNOW the statistics that Stalin gave of the dead.... He said that 20 men died in Finland. The rest he left to rot. Besides the army atttacking Finland was one million. After the coldwar(or was it during it, cant remember): Russia admitted that it was the beliggerent in the Winter War --> they set up the Mainila shootings. and they published the actual number of fallen soldiers. Which was NOT one million. Look anywhere. It's not.

  • i think it comes from that about a million russian soldiers never returned home many hundreds thousands disapeared and they might asswell have been killed

  • Explain your hostility.

  • My apologies, im terribly sorry. There were a few words that i understood the wrong way.

  • If you wanna blame finns you blame them to be too early anticommunists. We fought against communisim about 30 years earlier than western allies. We stopped communism three times: 1918,1940 and 1944. Helsinki is one of the 3 capitals in WW2 not conquerred by enemy forces. Others were of course Moscow and London.

So blame if you wanna. It's your choice. I wanna say to this great generation of Finland - YOU WERE JUST GREAT!

  • I know this comment comes quite late, yours been 5 months old :D. But you are forgetting a few. Sweden and Switzerland.

Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK are the only European countried that have never been occupied by a foreign force.

  • @tranmere789

How about Stockholm? Madrid? Lisboa? Bern in Switzerland? Tokyo was never conquered either. After the two atomic bombs there was invasion of Japan.

  • @McLarenMercedes

Sweden (Stockholm), Spain (Madrid), Portugal (Lisbon) and Switzerland were not combatants in World War 2. Tokyo was occupied after Japan surrendered. That is definitely a conquest. But the bottom line is that he is misquoting the original bit of trivia which states that among all the countries that were invaded (fighting in home territory) in World War 2, the capitols of only three were not conquered.

  • @tranmere789 and I proud of your people :)

  • @tranmere789 mainiosti sanottu!

  • Winter war showed that democracy can hold aginst dictatorship, that gave some will to fight for allies.(someones say)

  • @Savakka

except that Finland wasn't on the side of the allies and few in Great Britain or America cared about them

  • there bashing the soviet union and other times they praise them

  • Great British newsreel! So much captured materiel....

  • Enough material to make an ersatz gulag.

  • I agree. Rarely do you see such good and truthful English newsreels.
