@Michaelgreen True! I mean, I'm pretty sure it's "something cane" but I keep hearing "philly cane" or "frilly cane". Frilly Cane sounds a little more Seuss, but I don't think it makes sense lol
@danielamin It always sounded like "kiddy cane" to me....but I think he was just keeping his lips pursed while saying "candy" in "candy cane"...which would make it "cändy cane", I suppose.
@danielamin I'm pretty sure that's just Scott's slightly odd pronunciation of "candy canes". But I can ask him when I see Rockapella later this month. I'm making up a list of things to ask him('cause I'm always so bloody starstruck when I see the guy I never remember what I wanted to know even tho he's happy to chat.
In regards to that quote, it's not just a characterization of their styles. George is actually a baritone with an excellent low end, but like most baritones he has a mid-range speaking voice and a great falsetto as well; see some of his "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" recordings. Barry, on the other hand, is a true bass, with a low speaking voice and not quite as much high range but a lower low end.
I like them both. I can't really say one is better than the other. Barry's bottom range is lower, but George has a higher upper range (he can sing comfortably in the tenor range). Barry can shake the walls and has an awesome voice for bass leads. George, not quite wall shaking but has a wider range of songs that he can sing lead on.
Saw this somewhere and I think it sums it up well:
Hey, O-Bummer! This song SO fits you! *chuckle*

@ongakunotenshi Seriously? If you did that it'd be AWESOME! Especially since I would never have the opportunity to do it myself!

George sings bass because he can.
Barry sings bass because he is.
