  • My friend found a colecoviseon in his garage, and he recently got frenzy, its awesome!

  • @y2k4ever1 thats funny thatshow i got my atari 2600

  • Wow o.O that giant evil Otto really went... BERZERK !!!

  • fuck!!! big daddy evil otto is a beast!!!

  • Does this game have an ending???

  • I am Joel West. From 7/29/11 to 7/31/11 I broke the arcade version of the Frenzy world record in 41:43:10. I scored 4,933,702 points. I tell you this simply to say your review was fantastic! I did not even know this was out there. I have only played the Atari 2600 version of Berzerk once, well over 25 years ago. I didn't like it. However, I WILL have to get this game and a ColecoVision unit. Thanks for opening my eyes to this version. I can tell just by watching your game that I want to do this.

  • @joelwestthegamer if what you say is true... then you have all my ammiration :D

  • I still play the hell out of this game. Brilliant port of the arcade version.

  • Mega otto would have been scary if I was five playing this game.

  • haha all 4 come out at once to kill u :P

  • The only thing i didn't like about Colecovision, was the 10 pound AC adapter.

  • Thank you for reviewing both this game and Venture for the Colecovision! I had completely forgotten about both of these titles, I used to be lucky enough to have an Adam growing up in the 80's and I used to play Frenzy and Venture for hours! De ja vu! I remember the factories in the center, the incredible music, and Giant Otto. Too bad I eventually "upgraded" to an NES and forgot about these classics...

  • this game is alot tougher than berzerk

  • I actually played a Frenzy arcade machine about two weeks ago. It was ALOT harder than the colecovision. I found it in one of those Ultracade machines, you know the one with like 20 games built into one machine. It's alot of fun though.

  • robot attack bop bop blep boboboooop waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalh =]lol

  • How can you call star Wars 2 better than Star wars 1?

  • @FuyuAkiWorld, that's not such a strange opinion. A lot of people (maybe even most) feel that Empire was better than the original Star Wars.

  • @FuyuAkiWorld Do you mean Episode V versus IV? Both are really good. I just think that Empire is a bit more intense and dark. So, if I had to choose between the two, I'd go for Empire -- by a slim margin. IMO, both are leagues superior to the prequels.

  • That last part scared the shite out of me. That face was menacing!

  • Evil Dead 2 SUCKED!!!

  • I love the Berzerk series. I wish that it would be included on videogame compilations for the 360, Furthermore an iPhone version would be cool.

  • Never could get use to that damn controller!!

  • Liked the ending!

Yes, the ColecoVision is worth it at least for this game, though I can play it on MAME and own a Zed Eds Spectrum

  • Love the end-tune on this game!

  • A faithful port of the arcade game, even the graphics are nicely done in this port, and they are near identical.

  • whats that 80s song you use in your intro?

  • 6:42 Gang-raped by Evil Ottos. What a horrible way to die.

  • The proper pronunciation is ZED-ECKS not ZEE-ECKS does not matter where you are from that is the way you are supposed to say it. Calling it ZEE-ECKS is pretty much saying SEEGA instead of SEGA. Its messed up. British say that is the proper pronunciation, canadians say that is the proper pronunciation, people in the US say that is the proper pronunciation!!!!! (Canada rules!!!!)

  • Have a nice,.....DAYYYY!!! BREW HA HA, lol.

  • LOL, Frenzy would seem like a survival horror game, but the music makes it all hilarious.

  • I did not know this was a sequel, I figured it was a clone since there is no Berzerk for Coleco.

  • this game is so cool im 12 and like old games

  • The Empire Strikes back SUCKED! It was unrealistic, the bad guys won.

Evil is not powerful. It was the Godfather in space, evil being portrayed as super powerful and unstoppable.

  • @dallase1 star wars was unrealistic to begin with, its all beyond realistic...so bad guys can easily win in any fiction...as fiction = not real

and bad guys do win....the government for one >_>

  • I just got a colecovision how do i hook it up?

  • i love classic game room hd reviews but this game sucks ass

  • Sequels better than the original? How about WRATH OF FREAKING KAHN :)

  • You also do NOT, and I mean NOT, want to take a leak when the Daddy Evil Otto is watching. VERY bad things happen to you. *Shudders*

  • Classic game room i have almost seen all your vids and you rock :D

  • A sequel to Berzerk?????? I must play this!

  • i loved berzerk so much i made a song about it. and i really wanted to love frenzy too but it has a nasty habit of spawning you somewhere that kills you instantly, sometimes 2 or 3 times in a row. it feels like a design flaw :<

  • Fun fact: Alan McNeil (Frenzy's designer) refers to the giant Evil Otto as "Mama Otto".

  • The Retro Gamer article on the making of Frenzy told me so much about how this outstanding game came to be. Shame that hardly any home ports were made, but the ColecoVision one is superb, at least.

  • god, for the 1980's, COLECOVISION had kick ass graphics.

  • pew pew lazers

  • I remeber this game from an arcade at one of the malls in my city back in early 83. Loved it but was disappointed that it never came out for Atari at the time.

  • I have this for MAME, it's awesome =)

  • Thanks for posting that! I have not played this game in so many years! You really made my day. Oh, and you even included what happens when you kill Evil Otto in Big Otto's room. I remember when I did that and boy did I learn my lesson. I think the same thing happens when you shoot Big Otto himself.

Thanks once again for this posting.

  • 6:43, "Toasty!"

  • There was some knock-off of this called Amok I think. Or maybe Amok was a direct copy of Berzerk. Now I'm not so sure. Can't even find record of Amok anywhere.

  • the spectrum version is extremely vivid

  • lol

  • this is my favorite part 6:38

  • The Atari 2600 version of Berzerk can let you kill Evil Otto on some settings.

  • it's like bezerk on steroids. :D

easily buying worth a coleco for ?

what would i have to drop for one ?

  • what are those happy little bouncing faces?

oh wait, they ARE happy little bouncing faces...

  • What an awesome game, I discovered this one thanks to you, so thank you mark !

  • very good

  • I don't get the squirrel. What has he got to do with video games.

Well anyways the squirrel is awesome.

  • Well, why does NBC use a peacock?

  • Is that combarable to the squirrel?

  • @TheCastellan I think the peacock became the mascot when color tv picture came out, its like a test patern, or just to show off the colors, like a peacock does it nature. look it up, to see if im right haha

  • I think they had the peacock in the black and white era as well.

  • This actually looks a bit easier than Berserk, since the walls aren't lethal and you can keep Evil Otto at bay for a while.

  • I have now played Frenzy, and can confirm that it truly is sweetness. Better? Harder? Up to discussion.

  • or use wii's Wii Homerew channel's Colem to play it with the ROM.

  • 6:39 Provoke Giant Evil Otto, and he shall lay his vengeance down upon ye.

  • Holy crap, it's Berserk 2!

Why was I not informed sooner?!

  • terminator 2 was better than terminator 1

  • I am totally going to buy this game, when i get a ColecoVision in just a few months.

5* video and as per usual 5* reviewing.

  • 0:01

  • Anyone remember frenzy on the C64? Nothing like this was one of those games where you gradually box enemies inside a square. err anyway nice video been looking to grab a colecovision for ages

  • I'm addicted to Berzerk and Frenzy on MAME. It's a shame they couldn't put the robot voices on these console version, they are awesome!

  • sorry for my ignorance what is mame

  • It's an program that emulates arcade machines. Anything made before 2000 is probably supported. Nifty stuff!

  • Nice graphicks :D

  • Colecovision was ahead of it's time, and since no one has mentioned it, the soundtrack for this game is fragments of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring!

  • @craftybone so was irobot...shame that never took off...

  • @craftybone You're right about the Sacre Du Printemps excerpts. Most of the quotes are from the first act, but when Evil Otto comes out, its the English Horn solo from act two.

  • @craftybone You're right about the Sacre Du Printemps excerpts. Most of the quotes are from the first act, but when Evil Otto comes out, its the English Horn solo from act two. and ohh, yes, the Glorification of the Earth music from act two, at the end of the game. I wonder if the programmer used Petrouchka music on some other colecovision game, I'm not yet hip to.

  • Fantastic sounds. Robot Attack was the best.

  • from what i understand is how they made frenzy is that stern had left over program and they used that to make frenzy

  • with a smile like that how can otto be evil!

  • Hey Mark, did you know that the ColecoVision's sound was about the same as the Sega Master System?

  • The SMS uses a variation of the sound chip used in the ColecoVision.

  • Yeah, that's what I meant.

  • classic game room FTW love your show man i would really like to meet you some day...

  • hahah super gang rape at the end

  • this looks like a huge improvement over Berzerk

  • The only thing it's missing is those Incredible synthesized voices 8D

man I love those voices :3

  • The Zee Ex Spectrum? Ho Ho Mark.

In the UK its the Zed Ex Spectrum.

I'm not an authority but between

1982-1986 I had around fifty games

for the Zee Ex Spectrum and I

    don't remember Frenzy. I remember

Berzerk on that platform. And Frenzy

looks like alot of fun so sad I missed

    that one "in the day".

  • Nice review.

  • I think this smiley face listens to Acid House and became this genre icon xD.

  • LOL! "Robot attack" A smiley face starts jumping at you. Best thing in a video game EVER!!!

  • So this is one of your favourite games of all time then?

  • Have you ever played Donkey Kong Country for the SNES? It's one of the first games I ever played.

  • man, mega otto really fucked you up, that was an attack and a half!

  • Smash TV's grandfather

  • cool game

  • Not:Don't Fuck With Evil Otto when Mega Otto is around

  • WOW i'm really impressed with this game. Wish i had it and a colecovision!

  • lmao @ end

  • I've been waiting on this one for awile Mark. I just knew that you would love it. I was very entertained.

  • I guess Omega Otto doesn't like you killing his kids...minions.........things. He really went berserk.

That was a awful joke on my part, I am so very very sorry haha.

  • Evil otto is a douche. I like him!

  • D'oh, it's pronounced Zed X Spectrum Mark :D

  • No it's not. You English can't pronounce English. It's Z as in Tranzor Z, not Tranzor Zed! :) -CGRHD

  • Hey! We invented the language muddy funster!!! :D

Tranzor Z originated in the US so it's pronounced Zee, not Zed, where as ZX Spectrum originated in the UK. :D

  • @InecomCompany

the one true way to pronounce it is zedecks spectrum

otherwise it's like pronouncing sega as seega

    it's just wrong

  • @InecomCompany

While I know your joking, according to Wikipedia, (Pronounced "Zed Ecks Spec-trum" in its original British English branding)

  • @InecomCompany

I still got some of those episodes on tape somewhere. :D

  • @InecomCompany IT'S BOTH!!!

  • @InecomCompany Well actually its how the french, french canadians pronounces the letter Z. Not sure if its the same in other countries. But heh, whatever, theres your little explanation to why he's saying zed. Technically both of you are correct depending on which country you come from. :P

  • @InecomCompany Americans don't speak English, they speak "American-tonese", or in other words: Branching off a real language and trying to pass it off as the correct version. Get Your Facts [and your words] Right. >:D

Also You forgot to mention why Frenzy never got as popular as it's big brother, it's because it's much Much harder than Berzerk ever was.

  • The Game Over music sounds like a Hitchcock movie score, CGR is the greatest, Evil Dead 2 reference apreciated.

  • Oh yeah! I love me some Frenzy!

  • Yes, I'll bet you do. And some tequila, it's friday! -CGRHD

  • this looks extremely fun!

  • this is cool game

  • For colecovision and adam? IM ADAM!!! XD

  • thy name suits thee

  • SCREW U!! XD

  • Really? I'm Colecovision.

    My parents were hippies.

  • cool

  • The grinning maw of Evil Otto himself...

I wasn't aware there was a sequel to Berzerk. Better than the original? High praise indeed.

  • lol when it says "robot attack" it sounds just like when Link obtains an item.

  • wow i must play this. i LOVE berzerk.

and evil dead 1 was great (fan boy moment) haha but yes evil dead 2 is my fav.

    bruce campbell for the win

  • I met Bruce once. -CGRHD

  • As have I. He was super nice and signed my Army of Darkness collector's ed. dvd. the old school gold case one. it was a dream come true. lol

  • Army of Darkness ftw!

  • I'm actually watching this now, wow this looks like Berzerk. Holy crap it is a sequel? NIiiiice!

I played Berzerk (I own it) I thought it was ok, I enjoyed watching your review of it more :D

  • 1.friendly fire FTW

2.what is the name of your theme song

    3.5/5

  • LOL at the end.

Definitely gonna pick up a colecovision now :D

  • Great video keep em' comin'

  • FUCK YEAH COLECOVISION

  • Sweet another Colecovision review.

  • Look at the gratuitous violence, the characters EXPLODE when they die. ColecoViolence!

  • For the whole video, after you mentioned what would happen with otto, I was really hoping that you would show us in the video. Thank you for not teasing me like that. ;D

  • Excellent review man. But I honestly like Evil Dead 2 more then Evil Dead because it seems to focus on Bruce Campbell more and it links up to Army of Darkness. Even tho the scenes they used to link the 2 weren't linked as good as they could have been.

  • Ha, well I don't think continuity was their strong point! Army of Darkness is one of the best films every made! -CGRHD

  • haha empire strikes back is my fav. of the original trilogy!

  • me to!

  • I had this a long time ago. I played the crap out of Frenzy.

  • THANK YOU FOR FINALLY REVIEWING THIS!! XD

I've been requesting for this to be reviewed for a while. Great to see it finally made. =D

  • It's the sequel...make sure you know the facts before you say something like that...>=/

  • no its not

    ( LOL smart-ass remark )

    i know xD i think i should

  • hurr durr Mark already established that it's the sequel

  • @ the end

Damn, teabagged to death by a bunch mechanical smiley face beach balls.

  • first 2 view sweet show by the way

  • Is it sad that I would wait all days just to see all the new stuff mark put up here? *lol* they're just that awesome ;D

  • Really awesome review

  • Better than berserk are you crazy? actually does look pretty damn good xP

  • lol pwned at the end, good review =)

  • Frenzy reminds me of the tank game in Wii Play.

  • awesome looking game!!

  • Still have 1 in my home :D I played it with my father when I was rly small ; o

  • It looks like it would be cool on Xbox Live with updated graphics.

  • I remember this! But I didn't know it was a sequel to Berserk until now!

  • I always thought it was a ripoff of Beserk until I saw this.

  • Awesome review, looks like a fun game!

  • to cool
