People always say goku sucks because he was a bad dad, but the sad fact is that kinda had to be. Like it or not there was always some threat that only he could defeat and he had to keep training to keep up. He even tried to step down as the defender of earth multiple times. Remember when Gohan was supposed to take over? Or when he wanted Goten and Trunks to kill Buu and of course when he trained Uub.

But even after all that he still had to save the day and sacraficed so much.

Vegeta was seen breathing in space during his first fight with Goku after Goku Kamehameha waved vegeta into outer space. Goku's father and other saiyans were also seen breathing in space during their 'last stand' against Frieza before he destroyed their home planet.

@springking5 yes, but if a saiyan strays too far from an atmosphere in which it is suitable to breathe, they will die. the only reason you see vegeta and bardock "breathing" in space (my opinion, as it would explain why in the frieza saga it is revealed that they can't survive in space or else goku would have just flown off and not have worried about finding a ship) is because they're close enough to a suitable atmosphere. makes as much sense as anything else.

@9Cheff1 actually what i meant by flaws were other things, like how he can be very naive, or how he can be selfish and he has a tendency to do dick-ish things like leave his family and make his 10-year-old son fight an evil monster. a mary-sue character is one who is portrayed as perfect and can do no wrong, and while goku can be a bit 2-dimensional sometimes he has quite a few negative qualities, especially after he embraces his saiyan heritage.

@9Cheff1 goku isn't a mary sue. he may be the strongest fighter in the universe, but he definitely has plenty of flaws. he is (usually) the strongest z-fighter, but he didn't win a single important battle in dbz without the help of others. he may have been the hero of the earth and the one everyone depended on, but he certainly wasn't perfect. he even said so himself. when goten said that gohan told him their father could do anything, he said something like "i wish that were true"

Only one continuity was shown where superman had a limit on absorbing from the sun(not a limit but it was "killing" him) and it actually transformed him into an even more powerful creature.

@TayrynJaneway Sean Schemmel has always done the voice for goku in funimation. there was another company that had dubbed only the first 60 episodes or so, so that might be why you remember the voice changing. They prolly switched between the versions. if you look around you can find the all the sean schemmel (and cris sabat :) ) dubbed ones :) I like those best lol :)

@GalickGun5078 Nappa used energy blasts. It took him longer to destroy a seacraft. It didn't take doomsday hours, he was far away from the city and superman had been fighting him before he arrived. They were already fighting while in the city, whatever got destroyed was incidental. Superman is fast enough to travel through time, he was considered quite literally invulnerable even if something was stronger than him. The supes that fought doomsday and won was the second weakest incarnation.
