The voice was perfect, and the character model was perfect too. The slightly elongated face, that haircut, the makeup, and the purple suit. So much better than Heath Ledger. (No offense)

Heath made the Joker more scary in my eyes, because he portrays (perfectly) what a human being can be driven to in terms of insanity, its just all round more realistic.

In my opinion, I LOVED the maniacal attitude Ledger and this new era of Batman has brought, but Nicholson still illustrates the traditional joker aura. If they fuse the comical nature of Nicholson's joker with the sycophant that Ledger played, it would be arguably the greatest joker ever.
I actually believe that Heath Ledger was the best joker because how the script was written and because of how the movie industry had evolved through the years. The story was more intense and a lot more time was spent on the development of the characters. He had talent, can't argue that, but the modernization also helped. Plus he gained fame because he died just after playing the part in the movie. Don't want to sound like a cold-hearted bastard, but that's the truth.
Heath Ledger did a fantastic job in acting as a psychopath. He showed us what Joker would be like in a realistic way.
Mark Hamil also did a fantastic job in showing us what Joker would sound like if the comics were brought to life.

I'll admit I do like Heath Ledger's Joker the best. Jack Nicholson's laugh and charisma are always a factor, and in a more cartoonish comic-book type setting he is the show stealer. But for the more realistic (it could be possible in an alternate reality) type setting, Heath's -I don't give a fuck please kill me or I'll go out laughing- maniacal but believable character certainly steals the show and I grew up with Cesar Romero. Nostalgia aside- was he really that good? It was a TV show.

Im a HUGE comicbook nerd. The Joker has always been changing since the start, so its only reasonable that his film equal would change too. All three actors were what The Joker was, at their respected times. Also, audiences have been wanting more and more gritty, darker, deadlier personifications of their favorite characters. The original point of the Joker was COMIC RELIEF! He's supposed to be a psychopathic clown that kills people and calls them "pranks". Look at all of the Batman comics. All three Lokers represents how the Batman comics were at that time so in reality their isn't no such thing as a better Joker because they all did an amazing job playing that Joker of the time era. cesar started it, but Heath still without a doubt is the top joker. cesar was more of the bloke who wreaked havoc on gotham buy throwing fish at ppl, and buzzing ppl when he gave em a handshake. bakk then that wouldn't of been so bad 4 tv entertainment in fact it was obviously quite enjoyable. However heath was simply outstanding by making the joker seem, very dark, mysterious, dangerous, and extremly smart. watch the dark knight dude, he took the joker 2 the nxt level

I'll admit I do like Heath Ledger's Joker the best. Jack Nicholson's laugh and charisma are always a factor, and in a more cartoonish comic-book type setting he is the show stealer. But for the more realistic (it could be possible in an alternate reality) type setting, Heath's -I don't give a fuck please kill me or I'll go out laughing- maniacal but believable character certainly steals the show and I grew up with Cesar Romero. Nostalgia aside- was he really that good? It was a TV show.

Im a HUGE comicbook nerd. The Joker has always been changing since the start, so its only reasonable that his film equal would change too. All three actors were what The Joker was, at their respected times. Also, audiences have been wanting more and more gritty, darker, deadlier personifications of their favorite characters. So to say one was better than the other is an insult to all three actors and their characters

@beautifuthieve Ultimately I'd have to agree with you. I like the new Joker because of the dark gritty realism that also personifies the new batman as well. Heath Ledger hands down did the best job of this genre. We want at least somewhat believable characters to identify with these days, even from our comic book heroes. ;-) But even Mark Hamill's Incredible Joker laugh( and i do mean it) has a place in it's own cartoon genre. And Jack Nicholson, as always, is timeless.

The original point of the Joker was COMIC RELIEF! He's supposed to be a psychopathic clown that kills people and calls them "pranks". Look at all of the Batman comics. The most important thing about the Joker is his laugh and the ways he commits crime. The Dark Knight Joker only laughed one time (sarcastically) and his waysof murder were quite bland. With was no humr in it. He's supposed to think EVERYTHING IS FUNNY! So how is he the Joker if he is almost always serious?

But Heath Ledger was a psycopathic killer that owned the Joker.
The Joker wasnt there to make jokes and make you laugh and semi-like him. The Joker is a the Joker because he laughs at killing and torturing people.
The joker would torture people not even for information, but just for fun.
Health owned it, and you guys have to get over the CARTOON version of the Joker. The comic book one was much more sadistic.

Don't get me wrong. I'm just as much of a fan of Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson's Jokers, but Heath Ledger made it seem as I was there: At Bruce's party. At the interrogation from Batman himself. At the shootout on main street before midnight. At the spot where he was taken into custody by GPD. IN THE MOVIE ITSELF AS A CHARACTER FROM THE DARK KNIGHT.
Honestly, all three of the Joker's were epic. But Heath stole the show.

the origional cesar romero joker. he may look creepy, but his character in the orgianal batman is funny. the batman(1989) joker is funny. the dark knight joker is my favorite. i like how christopher nolan changed the jokers story a bit, and gave him scars

Okay, let me explain what this bias video won't. All three Lokers represents how the Batman comics were at that time so in reality their isn't no such thing as a better Joker because they all did an amazing job playing that Joker of the time era. Me personaly, I prefer Nicolson's Joker because he had all the Joker trates. The shock ring, the acid flower, the laughing gas, and the all importand Joker cackle.

jacks and heaths jokers are both amazing and fit the types of film they were in! you carnt say who playd the joker the best but the the dark knight had a much better and well thought up serious story than batman (1989) which i think they wantd a bit of a comedic effect in the film! i do get the feeling that heath is trying to be like jack nichs joker with his own twist!
