If the woman’s lawyer is correct they should file a complaint with the department, the local pd, sheriff office. Document every thing in writing sigh it and send a copy of video along with the complaint. The head of school should also be sent a copy and ask for all officer be trained so you don’t have to file harassment charges against the school.

It was harassment if they saw nothing wrong and forced some to move. Their report could just say unfounded. Observed for 20 minutes. Observed legal activity. No action warranted.

@phantomjay0 Actually, he's giving THEM a hard time for nothing! They were protesting abortion on a public sidewalk, which is perfectly legal. This group has a lawyer that will back that up. If it weren't legal, they wouldn't have been doing it. It's the officer who is harassing them.

@WishCommandress Based on the dialoge the officer is acting like there is a specific school policy or local law prohibiting them from protesting on the school property. This video does not tell me much but please understand that just because it is a free country and one law states that you may be on the sidewalk does not mean that another local law or policy cannot prohibit you from being on the sidewalk.

There is no law against what they were doing. This group has a lawyer that confirmed this before this all went down. In fact, they had done this same protest at this same campus in the same way before. Their lawyer even made sure it was okay to do beforehand, as she does every time. Seriously, the video here was not of anyone walking in the street, so your very first comment on this was irrelevant. But you are right, it's illegal to block the streets without a permit. Has nothing to do with this video, or my comment on it, and nearly everyone already knew it, but it was true. You win, you made a true statement that had nothing to do with anything, but it was true. They "get into trouble" because the police and school administrators violate the law to harass them. I'll tell you what - go out and protest or some kind of free speech activity, and see how often the cops are called, even with no violations of law, and how often the cops try to threaten you. Happens all the time.

go protest? for what? I don't abuse my rights. I'll only protest if I want to redress of grievances by petetion. none of that retarded burning the flag or throwing stuff at peace officers. People walking down the street are actually making unlawful protest unless they have a permit. Most of the time they don't. I think I'll be fine and not protest for no reason. thanks a lot though. Paulyy17 - you are not worth talking to, but for the sake of others who will read this, I will make some things clear. I've been falsely arrested while legally protesting. The County involved had to pay me to setlle my lawsuit.. I handled the lawsuit entirely on my own. This was in California, where most of the SurvivorsCLT conflicts with the cops take place. So I know the law here. You do not need any permit for free speech. I can't believe how many people think that. Ridiculous.

Think about it, if you needed the permission of the authorities to speak, how would speech be free? The only right the authorities have is to restrict you from causing problems like noise, blocking sidewalk, etc. But I can tell you from personal experience, the cops very often tell you to move on (an illegal order) or even threaten you with arrest, when you are doing nothing wrong.

I am not against the police, but the fact is, they often have authoritarian attitudes that "you need permission" as though the government was supposed to be the strict father of the people. Also, when they are called, it's because someone with money or power wants you removed, and they regard it as their job to serve the powerful against the weak, as best I can guess anyway. You can have your anti-democratic opinions, but please don't misinform people about law you don't know.
