@daljin1991 I don't know if I'd say one is better than the other. Hendrix might have been better with improvisation, while May's creativity is unmatched (youtu.be/POsOP3TF-XY?t=1m53s). Both are certainly virtuosos of the guitar.
@xRaZ0r38 There are six slider switches (not toggles, I doubt they made small toggle switches when the guitar was built) - for each pickup an on/off, and a phase-reverse switch which basically flips the output of the pickup 180 degrees. When you combine two or more pickups out of phase, the common frequencies are cancelled out - the upshot is a squealy sound full of harmonics. The BoRhap solo is middle and neck out of phase with the amp, or rather amps, full up and giving it the beans!

brian may ,..............he is ok on the guitar.... who does he play with ..would i have heard any of his songs ....hey long hair cut your hair and get a proper job and give up this stupid dream of becoming a rockstar leg end........ha ha ha ...brian may is the master
gnamp. Now you are getting just a bit too picky. He didn't say he invented the palm-muting technique, he said it became his trademark. Simply how he plays. Great guitarist. One of the best.
gnamp. He is one of the best. But still don't hear him say he invented palm-muting. I know many guitarists before him did palm-muting. I am a session guitarist and I use it from time to time.
Yeah, ok- I heard you. I didn't say he said he invented it, did I?
I suspect he didn't come up with it instinctively as he says he did- I maintain he will have got that elsewhere. Brian May himself says no one creates in a vacuum. And what's more, I'll submit that it isn't his trademark. When I think of Brian May, I don't think of palm-muting. When I think of palm-muting, I don't think of Brian May. It's a common device employed by guitarists from time to time. Nothing more.
gnamp. Relax. I think we are on the same page. I don't think of anyone when I think of palm-muting. We are splitting hairs. He just seems to be describing his techniques. Let's leave it at that. He is an innovative guitarist. I also don't know of anyone else who uses a coin like he does.
gnamp. Funny you bring that up. I use a Digitech Tube Effects Rack Mount Unit, but not a Brian May pedal style. Mines about 13 years old. Always thought that his strings must take a beating using a sixpence. Keep Yourself Alive
I dunno, I reckon it works both ways... it's such a common, instinctive technique that it's not really a stretch that Brian would've arrived at it himself. Hell, I did ... (that was more to do with trying to mimic the start of "I Feel Fine" though, and I was just a silly kid!)
omg i saw we will rock you yesterday in the theatre and i just cant stop listening to queen's music it is so amazing and Brian May is the man to look up to ive already started to learn some of his amazing solos
Imagine for years the people who sat in front of that fireplace and had no idea they were sat next to parts of a guitar that would shape popular music!
QUEER haha would've been more accurate i don't know why they never went with that o_O

@04jhayes idk about that one, Hendrix's rhythm, phrasing and musicianship (like improvising) are too much for Brian. you must not play music.
