Dude, I love my Mexican, except it has an annoying as fuck buzz on the 8th and 10th frets on the 6th string.

Fret leveling? I tried leveling the strings, but not the frets. I'll look up on it.

You just take a rubber hammer and gently tap the frets into the fret board nice and evenly. Uneven frets cause buzz even if the strings are at a decent height.

Hm.. yea it could be a good guitar for that kind of music, but I think that the stock pickups should be change. Anyway if you are using effects, you won't " really hear " the difference between the pickups. - that's my point of view =3 -

what i would do is get a seymor duncan hot rails pickup for your bridge to get that medal sound(maiden uses these pickups all the time). and change your neck position pickup and slap on a seymor duncan single coil for a sound thats warm and bright at the same time. this way there is a wide range of sound variations you can get. i did that for mine and haven't changed it since

yeah, good for maiden and deep purple. Huge maiden fan myself, and if you wanna sound and look like maiden fenders are the way to go.

on those bar chords, you may want to try using your thumb for the low E and A strings. either way is kool though.

Well, what do you want to play? If your looking for a really twangy rhythm guitar sound, I'd go for the tele. For a more rock n' roll sound I'd buy a strat.

Had it about three years and I'm not a heavy player. Nobody else seems to complain about fret-wear on Mexican Fenders.. I guess it IS just me.

I should take the maple neck, it's more comfortable en it looks better.

The only thing that you CAN do with mahogany and not with maple, is changing your frets.

So go for maple man!
