Aside from all the bs on here, it would be nice to also show the application. And also, you should explain that this is just remedial, what you really want is to just step in witha punch.
I use lat sau for many thing other then just sparring. It can be a form of chi sau or a way to introduce new material in a freestyle and flowing or alive formate.
hey ten months later and you guys are still gay how about that. you are the worst wing chun guy i've ever seen. how can you say what wing chun is lacking.
a wise person once told me--a good teacher does not neccesarly have to be able to be good in fighting, if he can explain to you the concept, the theory, then he is as good of a teacher than any can have. because at the end you will have to understand the meaning behind each movement, not just being able to perform it.good video thanks for posting

what's up with you with videos? you SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! WHO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR HOSTING PEACE OF SHIT!!! YOU SUCK AT MARTIAL ARTS SO YOU SHOULD JUSS STOP VIDEO TAPING YOURSELF!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA yea i suck, i've been doin muay thai since i start walking til now. my tip for you is learn how to punch right and your stance and balance sucks so bad. you might wanna practice on that before postin' another bullshit video.
My advice to you is that this is YouTube. You post video replies to SHOW people what you mean. Just typing chat is sooo 1998. and if you just type insults, well....you do have "drive by" as your background so I guess we should expect that.....and not much more.
Did you even read the info about this video to the right? Did you see the part with me actually fighting a MT in alive conditions? Whats a girl have to do with shit, I know some girls that can kick ass......
In all my years of muay thai, I've conditioned my shin to take the blow, but I guess I was wrong, I'll block with my calf and my thigh from now on (sarcasm). I'll block his punches with my face also (more sarcasm).
A 27 year old can not talk about wear and tear on the body and its long term effect.
Conditioning to take punishment is fine and a methodology that requires this type of supplemental training time is ok. If you're into suffering pain and ruining your shin bone so that in the future you will not have to suffer pain, good for you.
This is merely something different. You can do both you know. You can block and hope the bone doesn't break, and you can roll with it to open up the enemy's leg up.
I'm not talking about static training, I'm saying the opposite. If you train slow that's how you will fight. If you train to block a kick then stand on one leg, then try to kick the other leg I don't think you have enough time to do that, at real speed I think that technique wouldn't work. Step back, then throw a straight right, it would work well if you were staring down at my leg trying to counter my kick. lastly, I have no shin pain at all, I started kicking a soft bag, and now a sand bag.
This is typical martial arts advice not based on fighting. In basic self defense this works, but it isn't efficient against a real opponent. Easy counter to all of this is to step back and come in with a straight right. I know it's for beginers, but it's not teaching real fighting technique.
If by "real" you mean sports, then one would have to make/watch a different video about timing and footwork. This is about training a specific type of contact and a specific type of counter.
Your saying that when you kick, you can also step back and do a straight right? WOW, you can go forward and backwards at the same time.....
We do not like to just do moves static so they are trained from this moving pattern. Do not confuse it with how we would move to fight.
Wow i love your gym its super cool it kind looks like my back yard. I bet all the ppl waching this are afared of you.!!! I todly under stand y you told him to not to kick you so hard because he might hurt.with his super duper wc skills .thes move are so good they ban then frome the UFC because ppl could really get hurt!
Well it starts at 0:18, nice alive event at 5:05, and demo of Chi Gerk at 6:55, but no I will not post actual full training programs on here. I think I was bringing the kick to my groin back into his legs, AFTER some Chi gerk developement.
No. I went straight from the Karate guy to the MT while he was fresh and as I said, since I was stopping my hits on contact and he wasn't it is not a very good video of me. Plus After I got winded I kept going for the training aspect under hard conditions even when he asked if I wanted to stop. So no, I am not gonna load that up for the haters to run with.
Hey it's cool dawg, no problem. It's understandable and what you're saying makes sense. I thought it was a whole diff event and you did good. Heck even Bruce Lee wouldn't want to upload his fight with Jack Wong Man where he got tired and winded :-P That's when he realized something about his Wing Chun MUST change.
HeHeHe...well I wouldn't go that far, but I did do an experiment. Before the event, on bullshido I read alot about how without sparring (their standards) arts like Wing Chun or Aikido are doomed. So I didn't change a thing before hand, even though I had several months to change it up. I actually AVOIDED sparring and did only chi sau and lite laut sau, like on this clip. I still do very little Hard sparring, but I have increased my cardio work.
Unfortunately what you read it's true, and it's been proven over and over again. Without hard sparring any art is doomed, even Muay Thai. Aikido is doomed even with sparring but that's a whole different topic. What does Emin say about sparring?
It just doned on me your Alan Orr guy wears Camo Shorts! Pretty funny...
Sifu is cool with alive sparring but not just whatever you want sparring, it must be with a perpose to develope your skills. It generally is a very good instructor controling things while a student is allowed to go for it. Sparring with other styles under their rules isn't a good idea, because it isn't WT then, but you fools will judge WT by it.
i see the general idea but MT block is also with muscle, just probably less. You make sure your foot isnt limp so the muscle rolls over the shin to protect it. And if you train right your tissue should still be alive. I dont see where the MT kick comes into play in this video, the blocking yes, but not the kicking. And like monji said you need to keep in mind the context that they will be using it in. Good way to train though
Cool comment thanks. I like the "muscle over the shin" theory in MT, though no one I have meet can show me this muscle effect. Glad you caught my joke about shin to shin blocking. Shin to shin is the worst case, but it does happen.
Our goal is to kick out the standing leg. Our training involves that and also what to do when that is countered, how to counter the counter.
This training filmed here is just some stuff from 1 class, with a beginner getting it for the first time. Its mostly to mock WC756s attempt to belittle the training done in WT. This is not a comprehensive view. Its just the starting point in WT and EBMAS.
oh i can tell that this is basically for demonstration purposes. Otherwise you would actually kick better. Also a nice reminder of how much power is packed behind a thai kick.
As for the muscle over the shin. Its easy. If you point your toes out you can feel your shin bone quite easily. Then curl your foot and toes up and you'll feel the muscle roll over.
It still hurts! That said, I love deadening tissues-if Doc and are talking about the same thing. At my shaolin school, it's all about deadening tissues-ouch it hurts-KEEP GOING! Your opponent won't wait for you to become comfortable again!
theres a difference btwn killing your tissue and conditioning it. Deadening it means you can feel anything, but I'm pretty sure you can (or at least I hope) that you can still feel and function in that part of your body. Real MT does not deaden tissue, cuz then you can't regulate how hard you kick or how was the other person's kick is. Feeling/Pain is a must in the world, it regulates everything.
Okay right. Then we are talking about the same thing. Keep the tactility and remove some of the sensitiviy or at least build a comfort zone to the pain in certain areas.
It is not used by WT. WT trains against it. The basics of the Thai Kick are covered starting at 4:59. The part where it says "Muay Thai Style Kicking". Did you watch that far? The only parts not covered in my outline are going up onto ball of foot and kicking higher then thigh. Whats not MT about it?
at what point do you start using the Thai round kick? I don't see it in the clip. maybe you have it confused with something else? You have to also think about how they would use it. how they set it up...
He's only been at it 6 months. I see what you mean, but really its the limbs strike targets that show the focus not the eyes. Else when we do blind folded chi sau what would happen?
This video has a few things specifically that relate to the WT technique vid. First, under the REAL CaliWT title you can see what to do with a snake arm lock, its palm to chin not to chest(at :16) Second, at :20, you can see that WT prefers the outside gate and elbows when in close. Most of the vid shows the answer to the simple roundhouse, then at 5:00 I go into actual Muay Thai.
