Not one second of this could've been any better. To the eleven thumbs down, I would never play music with you and I just don't want to know you, PERIOD.
How can ten people not like this. They must really have problems if they go to the effort of pressing the dislike button. For God's sake, if you don't like it don't listen to it. press the backspace key and go back to Justin Bieber or Sepultura. Anyone who appreciates music will see quality in all styles of music. Anyway, that's my ramble over :0
I think Ryan would be very proud that this has been covered by many people. I think that's a sign of a great song, how universal it is, While I think Ryan's original version is the best, I think the cover by the Bobo and The Coors is really great.
@Jaxton98 this is Ryan Adams original that Tim covered. theres a funny bit on a Yahoo performance where after the band finished playing the song, Ryan says, "I wrote that song. ME! It made a ton o' cash and paid for my pool made of Unicorn bones." Gotta love him. But yes, Ryan did write the song, and yes he made a shit ton of money letting other artists cover it (Tim, the Corrs, etc...).
this vid skips A LOT @least for ,me... i knew Neal back in the day-great guy awsome singer songwriter gee-tarist but i gotta say- he needs to start parting his hair somewhere else- that highway down the middle gots o few too many lanes-kna' mean? -nutinbutluv
This song is utterly beautiful, Ryan Adams' voice is just stunning; perfect for falling alseep to. Though I must say that the cover by The Burden of Paradise with extra saxophone (!) is a bit nifty too. :)
With gratitude to Michael Jewell Haley who pointed me in the direction of the original version of the song...I now give you this little gift. Am I wrong or does his voice just float like a bird. Love this acoustic version and now I'm a fan of Ryan Adams who I'd never heard of before.
It makes me shiver every time. It gets to me. Ryan Adams gets to me, in all his heartbreaking and beautiful honesty. No one compares to him, and no one gets close to his musical genius, so why bother arguing about which version is better? Ryan'll always win in the end!
i have to admit that the first time i heard this song was on "one tree hill", but once i youtubed the original by ryan adams, there is no other version for me. this is definitely one of the best songs of the 2000s and no tim mcgraw or bono can do it better than the songwriter himself.
@lishun Lol one tree hill was the first place I heard it too! But I had no idea how to search for it. I have a strong memory of being mesmorized by the song but the original is even better
awesome version!!!! one of my favorite songs, and i'd always rather hear ryan do it than some glitzy fake country star. poor ryan doesn't seem to hit that high note in live performances... but neither can i... it's freakin' high.
The videos you have posted of Ryan Adams are great, but the audio sounds a bit over-driven and yes there are a few subtle skips... otherwise beautiful, thanks!
Actually I have and I am a huge Corrs fan. Their rendition lacks the depth of feeling that even Tim McGraw put into his cover - which could be due to Bono's arrogant presentation.
You could be right there. Personally I can't stand Bono, I go into a bit of a panic trying to change the radio station when ever a U2 song plays. Luckily their is a version on Youtube of the Corrs singing this song without Bono.
I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS!!!! I've loved this song since I was 5 years old and my dad recorded this and showed it to me. His is the best version the Tim McGraw version is crap the Corrs one... ARG!!! That is a crime against the song they ruined it
@Freakenstine1 Hey... Do you think you can upload the one your Dad recorded? Only because the audio quality is reaaally distorted and clipping on this one. This has to be the best live version Ryan A. has done of this... Worth asking ;-)
I know Tim McGraw stole it! I am just bewildered by those who think he is worth mentioning when you listen to this. I watched this the time it was aired and was just blown away. So in the words of bjmo 11 'get a grip' RA rules!
@bjmo11 Some people (like me) had only heard the Tim McGraw version until now. I don't see how that's such a crime. You seem like the one who needs to get a grip...and a spell-checker.

The video skips (at least it does when I view it), if that's what you mean by 'messed up.' If you mean the quality of the performance then I don't know what to say. I simply cannot fathom how anyone could prefer Tim McGraw's version to this.
First, it's pretty weird to think that the guy who wrote it wasn't 'meant' to sing it. Second, Ryan Adams absolutely qualifies as a country singer. That label is actually too limiting for him. He's a brilliant singer/songwriter with a penchant for folk/traditional/country. Just listen to Jacksonville City Nights or Heartbreaker. I don't really mean that as a challenge. I just really hope you do because I'll bet you'll like it.
How is there even a debate as to which version is better between a musical genius (Ryan Adams) and a country singer who has people write songs for him (Tim McGraw)? this version is exponentially better than tim mcgraw's version. the only thing good about mcgraw's is that he didn't try to pop it up with computer effects. he just sucked all of the soul and passion out of it.
i agree with magicpie77 and crispicakes!ive had the chance to see ryan and the cardinals last year!there shows are amazing.i truly feel totally different when i hear ryans music.there is nothing better!
i think he crossed his legs so he could hit those high notes in falcetto :) jk, ryan is one of the best performers live and all the songs from this set were amazing.
Every so often there is a performance that is exceptional and legendary - this falls into that catagory.

this version is exponentially better than tim mcgraw's version. the only thing good about mcgraw's is that he didn't try to pop it up with computer effects. he just sucked all of the soul and passion out of it.

He has such an awesome voice. And this vid proves he deserves much more credit for his guitar work than he gets!

This is a great version. If you're just being introduced to Ryan, then you are in for a great journey!

i think he crossed his legs so he could hit those high notes in falcetto :) jk, ryan is one of the best performers live and all the songs from this set were amazing.
