Great stuff! . . . Yes, and watch Spike on Youtube with his Paki Dalek sketch as well - hurry back political INcorrectness! That's why nobody laughs at the telly any more!
I love all this racist, homophobic ,size-ist, age-ist, and every other 'ist' that you can think of - I really do find the humor funny and Hilda was a genius at the craft
The old man looks a dead ringer for Jimmy King in Emmerdale. Jimmy Jewel was also in this wasn't he? I remember watching this every Sat night with my mum and dad, my mum always used to say she thought it was crude. Great, happy memories.
I loved Hylda! My old mum was a carbon copy of her always gettting her worms mixed up and that. LOL. She was real gem and such a great actress. Bless you my darling and thanks for the laughs and the memories. RIP XXXX
We don't make this kind of thing anymore, because we CAN'T make them this kind of thing anymore. There's no new people I can think of that have the finely honed talent of people like Hylda B.There's no rep and therefore no places for people to learn, make mistakes and be humble with other performers. Most of TV now, from presenters to sitcoms is peopled with egomaniacs. It's like a 24/7 nativity at the worst stage school ever...and they don't even have the excuse of being children!!!
Yes I have just seen them, least Sue Nicholls brings a bit of life to it.
I didn't mind Jack ouglas too much but the last episode, when he plays Alf,like the annoying character he played in the Carry On films, you can see the end is here!
Its strange seeing the actor, who play Hylda Baker's Dad,who died in the first episode of Nearest and Dearest, playing Hylda Baker's dad again in Not On Your Nellie, although I know its two different shows.

Absolute Classic - why don't we make comedy like this anymore?!

Reason been i feel, is there are not the writers, and the people that can be funny without trying to be thats what Hylda could do so very well.
