Like all chiptune trackers it's not hard to create music on once you grasp the concept but if you want to create music like Nullsleep does, good luck to you. There is a reason he writes the music for Nintendo. I would also like to say LSDJ and Nanoloop aren't the only 8-bit music creators; I've even seen 2 aduinos that are programmed to create chiptunes in random sequences within a NES and record what they write for mixing. There are many things out there for writing chiptune music.
@TheSlamHam As a beginner as myself, first you need an LSDJ or Nanoloop for your Gameboy that's how you start off with making chiptune. You can find them on the web or Ebay but I got my LSDJ from the official LSDJ website (which I prefer mostly LSDJ) There's also a LSDJ Wiki once you have your own.
Does he actually DO anything on the GameBoys? I mean, I know he makes the music on them, but does he actually perform anything we hear live? Otherwise I find it a rather pointless show to put on, physically.
@Dzumeister Ah. Thank you! Does this "live mode" work like a primitive instrument, i.e. you produce sounds by pressing buttons as opposed to putting down notes on a sheet (perform and not write)? I mean, obviously he never does everything we hear all at once, but I mean perhaps play a melody while a beat is going. Or do you rather alter the sound in real-time, like changing pitch and such?
@SiGhast The Live mode has a variety of applications. I haven't gotten around to experimenting with it, but you can choose to mute certain channels, change the tempo, change the key it's in, or even write new melodies.
@SiGhast Yeah, I use live mode mostly when I play. You can mute, que, and edit the music while it plays. It's not quite an actualy instrument, but after awhile it gets really fluid and it begins to feel like one.
